  • You are simply amazing man. Holy Cow!!!!!

  • WTF

  • beautiful

  • how....

  • Yo dude, that sounded great. How do the hell do you play like that? fast but yet nice and melodic. PLaying like you is like my ultimate dream man. Do you use the modes? or just sticking to arpeggios?

  • tom you are so amazing, this made me pick up my guitar and practice! thank you! you are one of the best!

  • i feel gooood !

  • this sucks D-ick

  • cool man, very innovative lines and flawless technique. what are you saying though? its a very impressive performance but theres nothing to latch onto, u can definitely burn on the changes but ur not really conveying a story or any sense of emotion the whole solo stays around the same level of intensity, theres no build. just some thoughts. sounds great though nonetheless!

  • very cool Tom!

  • Subscribed ......tq105 is legit.

  • I use that approach sometimes, but It requires loads of deliberate phrasing,

you alsp proved you do not need Suhr to sound good :), because that was butt-naked guitar, good job

  • complimentissimi

  • Nice! :)

  • great!!

  • Ever heard of playing chops?

  • I've just seen some of the best jazz playing on YT by looking up Giant Steps. Amazing.

  • AWESOME

  • Holy shit, that was smooth as hell. What strings are you using man?

  • amazing, yet really boring

  • I wonder if this makes any sense at all as Giant Steps without this Karaoke track keep playing chords and form? Nice practice session! But far from playing music :( Sorry..

  • I wonder what he's playing makes any sense as this song/Giant steps without Karaoke background playing chords, bass and form. Good practice session!, But not a song or music at all :) Sorry..

  • I wonder what he's playing makes any sense as this song/Giant steps without Karaoke background playing chords, bass and form. Good practice session!, But not a song or music at all :) Sorry..

  • Bravo man!!!

  • nice

  • How do I favorite the video using Youtube's new interface? :D

  • Ok, I'm leaving youtube for today. I just realise that I have to practice!!

Nice playing by the way. Very nice in fact!

  • great!

  • By the way, stellar right hand man.

  • Incredible delivery, demanding but very musical!

  • Now I like that ! - just added it to my 'favourites' - did you write your own solo out and learn it or was that an impromptu performance ? I really like the percussive string noise - gives you a really 'immediate' sound !

  • You did a splendid job. It's an incredibly difficult song. I think there is room for more space in your solo. I know that Coltrane's original reading was a relentless assault of notes, but I think the melody of the tune is so pretty that there is potential for a Davis-esque minimalism at times when improving over it. Other than that, I think you played it remarkably well

  • That's great homz!! F-ck the haterz!!

  • it is just practicing scales in 3 keys. A long way to play something meaningful. Good fingers although. I hope mind will join one day.

  • hmm.. FFFUUUUUU! awesome...

  • sounds like--John McLaughlin - Do You Hear the Voices You Left Behind?

  • @BlueRoseRocketBand2

nah, i think it's more like : do you hear the voices you left behind sounds like giant steps....

btw it's a tribute mclaughlin did for coltrane.

  • wow. congrats.

  • how did you approach this song in terms of improv?

  • play the arpegios.

  • Hope i'm not asking a whole lot, but how exactly did you go about thinking about improvising over this? Its fantastic :)

  • This is a great solo- Best I have heard so far on Guitar- It is the reverse of what Pardon my Opinion has said- This is a definite departure from the usual 1235 and seventh scale approach- I hear lots of emotion and the tq105's harmonic concept took the tune to another dimension. a mechanical approach would be more like Don Nick"s in my opinion-

  • I am really shocked at Pardon this Opinion's comment- This is probably the best Giant Steps I have heard on guitar- The phrasing is serious-; great feeling, and also very impressive rhytmically- I also loved it because I heard tons solos on this piece and the decent ones usually borrow from Coltrane's approach using the 1,2,3,5 , the 7th scale etc.. Tq105's concept is harmonically very interesting- very inspiring-

  • ;-)

  • @tq105 Are you using a lot of legato or is it mostly all picked with economy picking? I can't tell. This is amazing!

  • So, let's hear *your* playing that's NEVAR EVAR bland. And why do you attack this guy personally, asserting that his life is "already useless," and that he is merely "attempting" to play guitar? If your musical criticism had ANY credibility (and it doesn't for me - instead you come across as a pig-headedly stupid dolt), you just ruined it. Besides, this guy plays VERY, VERY well. Good tone, great sense of time, good taste, fiery emotion -- not one in 5000 guitarists could do this, I betcha.

  • I like your phrases. They seem very harmonically strong.

  • SHIT!

  • Very good job !! and excelent technique, pretty clean, best regards from chile and good luck, bye !!

    Guidobass.

  • Oh My Goodness!!!! SMOKIN' !!!!!

  • Dude, your incredible!

  • Wow man that was crazy awsomee

  • Jolly nice

  • wow, the best in guitar idol, no doubt...

  • excellent job man !!

  • These are some of the best lines I've heard any guitarist play on this tune. You nailed the changes and have very smooth technique. Wow.

  • I wonder if this makes any sense at all as Giant Steps without this Karaoke track keep playing chords and form? Nice practice session! But far from playing music :( Sorry..

  • @viewer76x Define playing music, who appointed you judge and jury, He feels it, he likes it, some do, some don't. But you are wrong, it is music. It all is.

  • Damn that is good. Those are hard changes over which to solo. Great delivery.

    5 stars! 5*****

    cheers,

    allen

  • super duper fast, man

    fabulous !

  • holy fuck.

    this is ridiculously insane.

you are definitely one of the better guitarists on youtube.

  • very nice. a great tune! Also nice one for posting your own playing and not doing what loads of stupid people do - copying other peoples solos and posting them.

  • Very impressive.

  • Very nice - and it breathes like a horn player would, something guitar players don't always get.

  • nice job

  • can someone please tell what the hell is happenig? what is he doing?

  • playing the crap out of that acoustic ,also using economy picking

  • Blimy, you absolutely nailed that! Awesome!

  • Now I know what it would sound like if Tony Rice played it!

  • You are THE MAN....

    amazing

  • WOW ! AWESOME ! ! ! :O

  • Wow, amazing playing mate

Any chance of a tab, anyone?

    @Thanks for the version serhanyasdiman

  • Greatest acoustic guitar playing I've heard so far amazing.

  • SICK dude. absolutely fucking awesome

  • I like that pentatonic sound. No chromatics; very modern. Your articulations are interesting

  • The major 6 phrases (5, 6, 5, 3, 1) is very effective. I would have liked to have heard you abandon it eventually. Your execution is flawless and the solo does feel good. I just wished to have heard you take some harmonic risk. Great job though!!!

  • NICE!!

  • this owns

  • wow

  • Hadrien feruad's guitar version.. : )

  • damn!.. holy cow!

  • What the fuck!! insane!

  • its realy fast but its fast...

  • i wrote this song

  • Man.. this kind of playing is very Complicated...

  • great work! what a study to have perfected! where are you in school?

  • damn i cant do that on an acoustic guitar

  • You probably can't on an electric either. :D

  • i bet i could if i really tried!!!

  • I doubt that.

  • yea well you dont know me

  • i was only friggen kidding why is everyone getting so hardcore about me saying i could play it. i've played guitar for quite a while and if i dedicated all my time to something like this i could do it so everyone stop saying i can't you know nothing about me. and for me acoustic stings seems harder to push down than electric thats why i said it.

  • LooopQ

Just learn to play it, and prove them all wrong

  • finally someone who has faith in me thank you sir

  • no.

  • yeah dude!

  • amazing man, you could pass for john mclauglin's take on this,

  • Absolutely amazing! Incrdible! Write songs! Give out some cd's! become rich! God bless you, Talented person.

  • sounds sweet!!!
