For me this is not the best version available, I would prefer a bit more refinement but a great pianist nevertheless. Great that charges against him have been dropped!
Mikhail Vasilievich Pletnev, founder of the Russian National Orchestra, was charged Tuesday with rape of young boys in Thailand....No smoke without fire....This is a dirty bastard pianist artist who prey on vulnerable young and poor boys in Asia. Hell to him and his performances! He deserves to rot in hell! Boycott his performances! Evil pianist!.Bring shame to his art!

Brings back memories of when my birthday co-incided with a Mozart major birthday concert and Mikhail Pletnev played this. Magic then and magic here. Very clever playing and directing from the keyboard. The music is simply joyous. Thanks for the video. Makes me happy.
Messege to evry one...knowing Pletnev as a real MASTER-Pianist, must hear Scarlatti Sonatas(2CD set"Virgin Classics"2001)It's Revolutionary,Amazing and THE BEST PERFORMING EVER ! ! !
@sam0xin These sonatas are positively superb. Listen to the Haydn and I think you will agree these are great too. The memory required for the Scarlatti sonatas is phenomenal and Mikhail Pletnev remembered them and recorded straight off - brilliant and the music is delightful. he is something again. Of what about CPE Bach?
@Sheepfarmer01@Sheepfarmer01 Thanks for respond! Yeah I have almost ALL recordings of Pletnev..as a pianist & conductor...All are MASTERPIECES ( not mentioning complete symphonies of Beethoven...dislike the set..), but Scarlatti 2CD album is something special...as Scarlatti named them as an exercises..What a HUMILITY from GENIUS ! Pletnev demonstrate, that those are even MORE THEN SONATAS...Thank you.

I am glad he continued to be a pianist after his Russian National Orchestra period. That orchestra sounds heavenly. as he works extensively with them. I consider Pletnev the best living pianist. Thanks for posting.
clarity is the trait that stands out to me in his playing too, clarity and articulation, maybe too much clarity? I find clarity and articulation important to playing mozart more than any other composer
При всей своей безмятежности и спокойствии, Маэстро -- всегда начеку. Возможно, в этом секрет его гениальности.

Pletnev truely makes the piano sing in this movement. Such a wonderful sound and abundance of expression. Gorgeous!

I like the intimacy between the piano and the orchestra, it really helps the music. Great job playing and conducting.

Pletnev plays the best Skriabin op.11 preludes!!! His Mozart is so delicate and crystal like. A master indeed.
