that is were automotive engineering has gone up shits creek my friend...its not about classic anymore its all about who can get the most technology in their cars and who can make the fastest....i would love to see some old school style remakes of quite a few cars :(

  • Just love the old school cars!!

  • ugghh...i just spooged my self

  • mmm itb's, s14 engine, and ye 'ol group a smg .... drool

  • your fucking sexy

  • that form being a back to front formation where to shift you push the shifter straight forward to shift up and in a standard sequential gear box neutral is controlled by the clutch and the firthist back position. Then to shift into first you push it up one position then up to the next position for second and so forth. In a racing sequential box more often than not an air or hydraulic assister is used so that all you have to do is push the stick up or down to shift while in the same position.

  • ONE WORD: NICE RIDE

  • Oh MY friend i do agree with you but thats 2 words :(

  • I want a car that sounds like that!

  • the engine in that car is worth more than most cars on the road

  • its a sequential transmisson thats why his shifts are so sick, anyway gotta love the sound of those ITBs!!!

  • what a sound!!! :O

  • DAMN

  • Awesome!!! That M12 motor sure screams. I own a vintage BMW 2002 racer - M10 dry sump motor (240hp) and 5 speed dog box. Not as trick as this car but sooooo much fun. It will beat a lot of newer race cars in its class despite the fact that its now nearly 40 years old. The 2002 was certainly ahead of its time.

  • i'd like to see any of ur jap cars try and beat a 2002 or a e30. bitch pleazz

  • hell, i'm still looking for a jap car that can beat my e36...

  • what engine ur e36 has??? Just curious...

  • thats a fast shift

  • yeah that's the SMG.

  • SMG?

  • Sequential Manual Gearbox. manual transmission with paddle shifters. They offer them on newer BMW's but this one had to have had some crazy modification to get one in there.

  • actually to be correct on a hill climb 2002 they would not have used the same sequential gearbox as the e46 M3. Not all sequential manual gear boxes use paddle shifters I guess you could put them on if you wanted because most of them use air shifters so you can use paddles or the standard stick. Either way the stick shifter is much much more effective than paddles, as paddles are very awkward to use... Especially in a hill climb setting. I would guess that its a Quaife built racing smg ;)

  • I would guess this is a real sequential gearbox and not just a regular manual gearbox with hydraulic acutautors.

  • yes for everyones clarification a Sequential Gearbox is a gear box that has the gears alined in a back to front design. Standard manual transmissions use what is referred to as a dog leg arrangement. This means from 1st you shift straight down to 2nd then from 2nd to 3rd you have to shift up and over then straight down to 4th (and if you have a 5th and 6th gear) then up and over to 5th then straight down to 6th. sequential means that the gears have been arranged in a completely different form

  • Haha funny how people can talk so much shit about the 2002, but supposedly "Love BMWs"

The 2002 pretty much single handedly saved BMW from getting bought out (by Mercedes Benz i believe.)

Still a good chassis as well, people have been dropping the M54 engines in to make a potent street legal engine.

  • My father used to have one, if you think thats crappy you never had one, thats a little panzer dude!

  • I want more!!!

  • awesome car, awesome shifting time!

  • Anybody who can say this has absolutely no regard for engineering. The 2002 pioneered the layout for cars that we have today - some 40 years ago. It may look hideous, but 40 years have passed, and this one is still going strong. Where will todays cars be in 30 something years?

  • @scrfce123 probably.

  • @scrfce123 It doesn't look hideous......

  • @madjimms TBH, I don't think it does either - but each to their own. I used the word 'hideous' to form a rebuttal for someone else's comment.

  • @scrfce123 Oh ok.

  • @scrfce123 as much plastic as there all made of, probly recycled in to douche bottles.

  • @scrfce123 i agree with all of that except that the bmw 2002 does not remotely look hideous :P

  • @1punkmonkey couldn't agree more

  • @scrfce123 True but the 2002 is a sublimly styled car, what the fuck do you mean its hideous?

  • Fucking awesome.

  • Does it have sequential gearbox? Shifting @0:04 is soo fast :O

  • Thats AWESOME!

  • is that a Beemer? or is it th NSU TT??

    the look a-like

  • of course! if you take off all the plastic you can see that its a 2002.

  • that car looks what class is it

  • sexytime. ive always like the center mounted exhaust pipe.

  • good handling

  • I miss my 2002. Those cars are soooo awsome!

  • sounds like a n/a s14 with carbon airbox(alpha n)

  • what engine is that

  • Sounds like an M12.

  • Is it possible to be ugly and beautiful at the same time. I can't make up my mind, but I like the style.
