  • This is one of my favorite Wes Anderson films. Everything about it is pitch perfect - from the brilliantly bleak color scheme to Bill Murray's fantastically melancholy performance. For me though, what elevated this film to a masterpiece was Seu Jorge's unforgettable Portuguese renditions of David Bowie's classics.

  • underrated as all hell movie.

bill murray is a class actor.

  • Ceremony by New Order

  • What's the name oft he song at 0:53 ?

  • @46 Shot for Shot from Pasolini's Salo

  • @blwbl me too

  • I can't help crying at the beginning of this, when they show the side shot of the ship and play 'Life on Mars'. My god. So awesome.

  • I'm tired of reading that people dont like Wes Anderson movies because they're not funny. They aren't supposed to be. I've always said the best dramas can be found in the comedy genre.

  • "what would the point of killing it be?"

    "...Revenge"

  • only a small percentage of people truly understand this unique work of art, myself included.

  • see that right here a=v=a=t=z.net remove =

  • Saw this movie three years ago, absolute great movie, one of my favorite movie of all time. kinda agree with almostcreed, takes certain kind of mind to get this movie...i've come across Bill Murray fans who are just don't understand this movie

  • I feel as if people misunderstand this movie, looking for a deeper interpretation of the movie. It kind of reminds me of the big lebowski. However, it almost seems like only a certain kind of mind really gets this movie and likes it.

  • i tried to like this movie i really did but i just cant

this movie is full of stars but its not very good

and the humor is almost non existent

    i just don't get it ....

  • this is one of the best movies i have ever scene its much better than the trailer portrays it

  • great movie :D

and that soundtrack is absolutely awesome

  • I prefer when Bill Murray was actually funny.

  • This movie is a cult classic! It has everything you could ask for in a movie, love, action, comedy, drama and makes some great points about life. Hollywood movies

  • greatest movie of all time

  • Without a doubt one of the greatest movies of all time.

I watched it a few weeks ago, but I need to see it again!

  • Jesus, even the trailer for this movie is amazing. haha Just seeing it makes me want to watch the movie. "...the answer is 'yes'" "Well, it's got to be!" I love it. This movie made Bill Murray one of my favorite actors. Everything Wes Anderson does is golden. I can't wait to watch Fantastic Mr. Fox.

  • at 1:41 when seu jorge's version of starman comes in and the airplane zooms overhead, that gives me chills. so beautiful

  • What's the song that kicks in at 1:55?

  • It's Starman by David Bowie, it's the part at the end.

  • brilliant movie

  • Any1 know wat the song is called at the beginin the 1 hes dancin to ?

  • Thanks... Thanks for not picking me..

  • what's the song at the beginning that BIll Murray is dancing to?

  • Although I do agree this was Wes Andersons weaker film, I still love it. Bill Murry is so good as Steve Zissou. Just his performance alone worth seeing this.

  • It is not weaker, you really cant compare his films together, although they revolve around personal gains & losses & goals, meaning of life & so on...they are still different in many ways.

  • Yeah, you have a point. I guess this movie, I found a little less interesting. There wasn't really as much going on it, that I could find enjoyment in at least. But, thats just 1 mans opinion.

  • It is slow going at parts & by the time they set off in the belafonte, over half the film has passed, & if not in the right mood, its pace can put you off of it completely.

  • Yeah, I agree. I think The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite Wes Anderson movie. What do you think?

  • my fav wes film is darjeeling limited, i wouldve cited RT as my second fav but when i saw Aquatic life again, i must admit, wes was bold with many aspects of that film, the title itself, the storyline, the quirkiness of the set & the clothes...but also because it made me like bill murray & see him in a new way..but hey, i like all 3 films , looool

  • Have you seen Bottle Rocket?

  • nope. I didn't see rushmore either.

  • Really? Wow, Rushmore is great. Bottle Rocket, I don't really like.

  • apart from the mr fox film, any idea whats wes working on now? I hope he remains in that genre he created.

  • A remake of a frend movie. I forgot what it's called. But basically a rich man finds out he has no friends. So, he tried to find one. Something along those lines.

  • sounds interesting. any idea who's playing the rich man or where can i find info on it? I watched Rushmore, which was good, but not as his subsequent films.

  • I have no clue who's playing who in his next movie. There hasn't really been any news on that yet, as far as I know. I could be wrong.

  • well, thanks anyway for the info.

  • @scherif70 Compared to Wes's other films, this one's quite bizzare. Just enjoy the character's quirks and Henry Selick's animation.

  • which one is bizzare r u refering to? life aquatic or the new one he's making?

  • this one.

  • Comment removed

  • FUCK YOU.

    worthless prick.

dont comment the video then. asshole

  • Yeah, why don't you go watch Transformers 2, which I am sure is more of your cup of tea.

  • Not to be a smart ass, but I didn't really like Transformers. Not the first nor the second. All I said was that I didn't like this particular movie. It didn't meet my expectations, which when it comes to movies, are very, very high.

  • I love Steve's awkward dancing in the beginning.

  • one of my personal fav's. I love the cartoonish fictional animals. wes anderson is very imaginative and I have yet to see a movie of his I didn't like.

  • I love this movie, i also like how they use the one guy on the boat sings david bowie songs.

  • people getting punched in the face is always funny

  • One of the best movies ever made. Get the goddamn word out.

  • wes anderson = god

  • does anbody know the name of the song starting at 0:58

  • New Order - Ceremony

  • this movie could actually be a comic book, i can see different adventures with Steve Zissou and his crew, Wes Anderson is a genius I'm going to write a couple stories and send them to him !!!

  • i downloaded the soundtrack--the seu jorge- "starman" on there sounds different then this on the soundtrack(minor difference, but i like this one better-his voice sounds softer)...anyone know where i can get the version that they play in this one

  • sue jorge sings all david bowie hits

  • David Bowie "Starman".

  • whats the name of the song that starts at 1.55 ?? thx

  • At 1:43, it's Seu Jorge's version of David Bowie's "Starman".

  • what is the name of the song that starst at 1:43, please reply

  • BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!

  • this is the single greatest movie ever made.

  • shame it's one of anderson's least appreciated works, it's probably my favorite

  • same here, alot of people consider this their least favorite anderson film, but damnit it's my favorite. It tugs my heart strings harder than any of his other films (to me, atleast)

  • I agree.

  • This is probably my favorite movie.

  • me too!! long live the red caps

  • Have to say same here (Y) :))

  • this was the first Wes Anderson film i ever saw, now im a fan!

  • The narrator is the dude who plays Gil from Finding Nemo

    I guess that makes sense

But this is my favorite movie ever.

  • The "dude" you're referring to is Willem DaFoe, who, besides having lent his voice to Gil, plays Klaus in The Life Aquatic.

I find it surprising that you wouldn't know that considering this is your "favorite movie ever."

  • And The Green Goblin in Spiderman, but who really cares right?

Sorry I didn't make the immediate connection. Shun me some more why dontchya.

  • lol

  • And He's In Platoon. God damn

  • I seriously don't get how the critics hated this flick. It's absolutely awesome!

  • they were paid to hate it..

  • I agree! It was a conspiracy!

  • awesome show- excellente Mr.Zissou! I think Jeff Goldblum's performance is the best personally. -Some crooked Fuckers stole my equipment!

  • I like how he hits the dog with the rolled up newspaper after the team gets robbed by priates, not because I like abusing animals but just because it fits his character so perfectly.

  • LOL, well I think everybody was brilliant! anyway sorry for writing 7 months after you writing this lol

  • I am part of team Zissou!

  • my favorite movie!

  • I loved this movie!
