Back in the 60s when Crips were starting out they used to dress up all fancy and to accessorize that image they'd walk around with fancy canes. They stood out amongst locals who identified them as "Cripples" because they used canes. That eventually got shortened to "Crips". The Bloods used to be Crips but broke away. Just some interesting history....
