euro blasts fuck me up dude. im not used to syncing my bass and ride and it doesnt feel the same as hitting the snare. PLUS hitting the snare in between. just so fuckin hard. and i tire out easily. anyone got tips??

@q34r34t I had the same problem alot too but what helps is practicing at slower speeds. and work with just your hand on the ride with the feet matching it. i just focused on my bass matching my ride hits and then just kinda let my other hand bounce off the snair. i used to just do single strokes on the snair then just move my hand to the ride while i was still doing them to get used to that weird ass feeling.

@ChAllanz another easy way of imagining it is- playing semiquavers as fast as you can with your dominent hand starting on the ride (or whatever) and your non dominant hand hitting the snare drum. after getting this in time (preferably with a metronome) simply add bassdrum underneath the cymbal hits (so basically player quavers). just start at a slower speed and build your way up man :D

@xXAlecXxC i know, it's hard.I got a kit with really crappy heads,and they sounded awful,the video is on my page on how bad they were,but two days i got new heads, pinstripes, and they sound a little better,but i forgot to buy any resonating heads :'( so they sound only a little better.But i got a 13" 14" and 16" set for £33 on ebay,i dunno if you're american but if you were you'd still know that it's quite cheap.The only other thing i can think is learn a style that matched the sound of ur kit.

@GenitalGrinder69 pretty sure he's doing it correctly bud. two most popular ways of doing euros is to syncopate the bass drum with both ride and snare OR to syncopate the bass with just the ride (which is what he is doing). BTW syncopating it with the ride is just like a straight blast except on the ride. and how many drummers do you know who do straight blasts with a single foot? none that i know of...

Nahh he is doing it wrong. "straigt blast" as you call it is an improper name. It is called, downblast(down beat) , smith blast, suffo blast or uniblast properly. His "euro blast" more properly called a blast or classic blast is played with one foot by real men. It sounds better that way. "straight blast" is can be played eather way. He sucks at playing smith blasts though bc he only plays quarter notes with his hat hand. He just plain sucks and has awful dynamics.!

You generally get a really good sound like that with a steel snare.. and tighten your head up nice and tight. I use kevlar drum heads (one because there really tough and two because there louder) Not always that expensive either.. but i get alot of people complimenting my snare sound. It's pretty simple! I run a Mapex Black Panther (steel) snare by the way. Hope that helps!

For fast one handed snare hits, aka the blast beat in most cases, but not all; you want to develop a technique. You can Either build your chops and use all wrist, build your chops and learn the Moellar method (I recommend this, i use it) or build your fingers up to speed and use the finger technique. Watch my drum videos if you want, I use the Moellar method. My drum videos are boring and repetative, except the cover but it shows some of my speed. I will post good vids soon, mine are very old.
