These are the same people who consider "Chronicles of Narnia" to be historical fact (Book of Genesis)
Well man, not all Christians are the same, and the people that think they are the same are the ones you ignore because they're the idiots in this scenario. You're one of the good ones.
Hmm - the Fundementalists, are pretty low key in the UK.
The Church of England is pretty chilled out in all honesty..we're not really that religous in general despite being one of the few western democracies with an established religion...
@Camo1000 Indeed. Though there is a smaller percentage of UK-ers attending church than USA-ers. I wonder if it's sheer mass that makes it possible. Hmm...
I'm quite sure Australia should also be included in that list - not just the US. But I'll forgive you.. because you probably didn't know. And in saying that... Indonesia should also be included.
@jenzatron Yeah, as I was speaking I wondered that. Wherever "western" evangelicalism has been spread, so it's global...no? Sri Lanka to San Francisco, Buenos Aires to Kigali...
Tripp, I don't know if you're aware of it, but this is the same message I've been on about for the last few weeks. And more, that our language is not reflecting an understanding of history. Also that you and I (for instance) face the same opponent; Dominionism. It heartens me that you make this video before one that I'll make that will put me in hot water with my own, (one of which is already calling for my death). I will be linking this vid there, prepare for the heat, & call on me if you wish.
@DonQuixotedeKaw Sounds good to me, Don. Oh...and if you are so inclined, watch the Revelation vids. A friend and I are working through the epistle with our congregations. Did you know it's a non-violence manifesto? It's tough going. Dominionism is frightening stuff.
@benzone50 Yeah, but by a friend. So...I'm not raging, just frustrated. So, Ben, how do we embrace the complications of life without trying to oversimplify them to the point of absurdity? Much of the American theo-political debate is just that. Oversimplified so that we all sound like we don't know what we're talking about.
@AngloBaptist The problem are the theocrats, who are not only reforming this nation in their own twisted image plans, but intending to consume yours, and every other peaceful faith. Atheists new and old know that there are things desperately wrong. Too many lash out in their perceptual darkness, while nutters left and right tell them lies. To their ears, I will sound like one more liar to ignore or abuse soon. It will be sink or swim hard. Think of me friend, as you do, what you do well.
What you say is such a simple thing to understand - even from an atheists perspective, but I guess the most simple things need to be said the most... Unlike you, I become terribly impatient with the atheist who brings up the 6000 year old thing - I just feel it's now reached the point, especially on youtube, for atheists to understand that Christians aren't simple, for atheists to finally drop the '6000 year old thing.'
@aveyowyns I agree with you, but I think we make a mistake if we don't speak. Much of the Hitchens/Dawkins stuff is anti-Fundamentalism. Somehow we have all been lumped into the Fundamentalist camp. How we begin to extricate ourselves from that is the next task.

@angrypunkbronxkid Yeah, and it's a poor retelling of Genesis (and later Revelation), too!

Far out. That makes me really sad.

Mistaking the extreme fringe for the representative whole - we wacky humans do that a lot.
Let's face it. Humans are just plain wacky!
Excellent commentary, btw.

Just call me out by name next time. Or lead me through the fire... your choice.
You are rad.

I choose not to get involved in "The great debate", but sounds like some buttons were pressed Captain?

@DonQuixotedeKaw I will. I think I need to offer some kind of contribution. Worth thinking through together, perhaps?
