Cats pick up body language so fast:) I house-sit for my fren's cat who is familiar with me. When I catch her where she knows she is not allowed eg. kitchen counter, I just look at her for a couple of seconds and she will behave.
Doesn't work 100% tho' esp if she thinks you maybe more lenient than the owners LOL

it look as if they are almost in pain... it is scary, but then you get used to it. Mya's lasted for 7 days straight about every 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. we have to keep her out of the bedroom at night since she is so loud & kept us up all night long. her being pregnant was soo peaceful LOL

I totally feel your pain. I adopted my siamese like, 1 day before she went into heat. It took us all of 30 seconds to decide to get her fixed, but another 10 days to get an appointment at the vet. She was in heat the whole time, I'm not even joking! It was constant, I don't think she slept at all... we certainly didn't.
