  • Why you boicot Japan's Oil supply????

  • why would someone dislike this? this is history....

  • @password75213 because they don't believe in asking for permission to plunge a country into war.

  • oh, wait, they blow it up!!!

  • what the hell is the american island of awahoo on 1:09???

  • @password75213 sigh.....

  • @password75213 It is one of the islands in HawaIi. I think it sounds funny when he says it.

  • We should have just entered the war in 1939

  • Racketeering

  • During war, he literally sold stalin East Europe , and for that, in my opinion, i call him worst president in history, coward, and traitor.

  • @metalcoola In his journals he made clear he wanted war with the Soviet Union if they did not return to their 1938 boarder after the war, but he was never given the chance as he died in office.

  • @metalcoola Sold Stalin East Europe, how much did he get? This coment ignores the geopolitical situation of the time. Russia was always going to be he country that rolled back the Germans from Eastern Europe and hence their troops were going to end up controlling that part of Europe. They controlled it anyway. Russia controlling eastern Europe was a forgone conclusion. bear in mind Russia allowed Greece to go to the west though the communists wee well positioned to gain power there.

  • @metalcoola and Austria which Russia freed was also allowed to go to the west. Czechezlovakia went to Russia and Poland was a tricky issue. But in return Stalin agreed not to stir up and support the communist parties in the western countries ie France and Italy which had a significant communist movement. It was the Russian army that essentialy defeated Germany hence the US was not in a position to have it all there own way.

  • @metalcoola Unless of cours a reckless and ultimately atomic war with russia was pursued which would have been unimaginably destructive and resulted in massive annihalation.

  • He's was a Democrat...and they've produced finest presidents

  • @Koi880 not all the time. FDR is the best of all. nothing else comes close.

  • @Koi880

    LOL WHAT?

FDR was pretty much the only competent democratic president in my book

  • @taitei969.

While we did crack the Japanese cipher, it only said it would attack at a point in the Pacific. It did not say in Hawii. Not only that, but it was the cracking of the cipher which made FDR move ships to Hawaii thinking that the attack would be in California. If he wanted an excuse for war, why would he have put the majority of the Pacific fleet there? Surely the attack of a few ships would have brought a declaration of war anyways.

  • Americans do not properly learn about FDR. Japanese cipher had been deciphered before the war. FDR knew that Pearl Harbor was attacked. However, it hid. FDR had wanted a reason to fight the Japanese. There were only old battleships at Pearl Harbor. Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor, but damage was small U.S. military. And FDR had asked the Japanese to attack the Soviet Union.

  • @taitei969 we only knew weeks in advance and the only evidence we had was: "Negotiations are useless; war is eminent" which is NOTHING to go on. And the United States did not want to attack Russia, we were allied with Russia. God, do you know anything? If we wanted to attack the Japanese we would have been producing weapons far before Pearl Harbor

  • If it weren't for this attack our country would not be who we are today. It took 2200+ deaths on 12/7/1941 and many more during WW2 led to the country we are today. I don't care if you ppl think that our country is crap then go to another country and you will want to be back in the good ole USA!! I do believe that the Japanese helped the allies win the war. No Pearl Harbor=No USA in the war=More Jews killed by Hitler=No Nuclear Bomb attacks=No Cold War=Possibly no JFK assassination. List goes on

  • @hughesn0835 dude hitler WAS attempting to develop a nucular bomb attack and he was wanting to concour the world. so instead of us being diffrent, we would be ruled by nazisism and junk. >.<

  • 70 years ago today, the country, nay, the world had changed forever.

  • @Altair0115 just you're country. My country didn't change

  • @ki3ran191 It's a wonder why we call it a "World" war, then, isn't it?

  • @Altair0115 because the "world" was involved in it. The "world" wasn't involved in Pearl Harbour.

  • FDR was an idiot. This was one of his few good decisions.

  • @bucfan14 No way ! is was a Great President!

  • @bucfan14 How was he an idiot? Roosevelt was human, but he was also the only man to be elected to the presidency four times... he was obviously doing something right. Maybe you should do some research on him and what he did for the United States and her people. It is sad that you feel it necessary to call someone an idiot with nothing to back it up. Give me a reason and I'll be open to it. However, it is more appropriate to call him human.

  • @bucfan14 it wasnt even his decision, he just read off that speech. congress has to declare war the president just has to carry it out

  • @ninjaseatvegies look it up he did NOT just read off the speech he made ALOT of changes to the draft of the speech by himself. And in the speech he asks congress to declare war!

  • my favorite president and im a conservative

  • we were at peace with japan until we basically took away all of their oil through the embargo act

  • @6969poopman someone's been watching Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor, huh?

  • Anyone else realize instead of saying Japanese he says Germany?

  • Those were the days...when President's actually went to Congress to declare war.

  • As much as I love Japan and the people but honestly... I believe they were wrong for what they did. Our retaliation to Japan was fully justified. Even though I have great empathy for the innocent people in Japan that were killed, but Japan won't stop attacking and they won't surrender.

  • The New York Times once said 100 years from now, people will be glad FDR was President. I couldn't agree more!

  • These young men were serving their country and were blind sided... The Japs new in their heart the only way they could possibly win any kind of victory in the Pacific was with a first round knock out at Pearl... Let us keep these brave young American men from 1941 in our hearts for all eternity... Not including the American Patriots of the Revolutionary War, The WWII generation was and still is our Greatest Generation...

  • A day to be remembered for all time.

  • @Joezvi In the U.S., the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allowed stations to broadcast advertisements beginning in July of 1941, but required public service programming commitments as a requirement for a license. World War II 1939-1945

USA entered in 1941. Right on time.

  • Bernard Baruch watched over WW11 from a park bench in Lafayette Park. His plant to watch over Roosevelt was Harry Hopkins. Hopkins was a double agent for Red Russia'a Joseph Stalin. Too, a go between with Winston Churchill and Roosevelt. Actually, Hopkins was a traitor. When Harry Truman took over he adopted all the traitors and spies that hung around Roosevelt. Truman drug us into the United nations in alliance with the mentioned Nobility.

Harry and Franklin were political sycophants.

  • Shame no Presidents since FDR have had the balls that he had.

  • back when wars were worth fighting

  • @europium21

if you could say that, germany had no intentions of a war with america and japan only attacked because the country was run by a bunch of warmongers

  • wow, this is legit

  • his "blooper" in :57 is very close. I personally think he said Japanese. It sounds very close to Germany's though.

  • @RsBotDownloader He said "Japanese". His accent makes it sound like "Germany's".

  • despite political parties, this man was a leader-this man was a president

  • what? 1921? that's what i heard...lol, he's definately 20 years late

  • he didnt say germany, he said japanese

  • how can people dislike this? show pride in your country..FDR was a real president, and he did the unthinkable and brought our country back...all people make mistakes and he did the right thing. people are idiots now.

  • @mIcHwAyLa IKR!!!!

  • @mIcHwAyLa

FDR - WAS NOT a real president and was by all intents and purpose a socialist/marxist who's ideology was large gov't over reaching powers and usurping our constitution.

  • @mIcHwAyLa FDR was a good leader here and through World War 2, but FDR did not bring us out of the depression, World War 2 brought us out of the depression.

  • @mIcHwAyLa maybe people disliking it are not Americans. I believe you can watch Youtube from other countries. Speaking about idiots.... jussayin.

  • @mIcHwAyLa I think people disliked this because it's not the whole thing.

  • @mIcHwAyLa People dislike this video because the video cuts off half way through the speech, then an advertisement comes on requesting $4.99 to view the rest of it. It has nothing to do with what Roosevelt said in the speech.

  • @mIcHwAyLa I from Another country DR, I agree with you, time, presure other thing FDR Take the right decision at the moment

  • @mIcHwAyLa i are from venezuela n i think u are right i study this president n i think was one of the better presidents in all history i dont know how can be ppl what dislike this speech is very impactful

  • it is not the speech, it is what he did to bring the US to the war. American presidents are no different in many ways than other powerful people. They misuse the power and priveledge given to them. He should have told the AMericans the truth, they were in danger. People would have ganted him entrance to WWII if he would have asked, instead he bartered with 3,500 GI"s and US citizens. was a great cost to humanity.

  • @handsandfeet01 ..... president d roservelt was one of the greatest presidents so far. and btw, more than half the americans doing something about the war were against the war and wanted peace. because of pearl harbor, we did enter world war 2. so technicly, its was what the people wanted which was peace, untill they were attacked. then they cried for war.

  • @mIcHwAyLa have to agree unlike Bush jr. D:<

  • @mIcHwAyLa WOW. He asked his boyfriends to drop two bombs in japan. SO FUCKING AMAZING.

  • @mIcHwAyLa FDR is the best, you are right

  • HEY! I listened to this a dozen times to be sure! Roosevelt commited a blooper! "I hr after GERMANY's air squadrons had commenced bombing... " Start at about :55 and repeat thru about 1:10.... wow! Or, for those conspiracy theorists out there... was it really a blooper???

  • @joemjackson I listened twice and all I hear is Japanese. Get your ears checked dude.

  • Pearl Harbour always makes me asks how did the US let Japan get so close to Hawaii?

  • @OperationAnime262 No radar system as we know it today, and for the most part we (those in power at the time) did not think that they would attack us as we were still friendly.

  • @OperationAnime262 No radar system as we know it today, and for the most part we (those in power at the time) did not think that they would attack us as we were still friendly.

  • @brettandersonzero : The radar system isn't an excuse. We (the US) had a working radar that tracked the Japanese forces as they were coming to attack Pearl Harbor. The problem was that it wasn't considered, because we were expecting some bombers to come in.

  • needs epic theme music...

    (types in theme)

    ahhhhhh perfect.

  • truly a great leader you dont get men like him or Abe anymore

  • THis gives me chills on my back. The US armed forces is like a machine, without a red stop button, you have to completely obliterate it to stop it. THats what I love about the USAF

  • FDR, greatest leader that this country has ever known. god bless his soul

  • the great fdr!

  • this is series imagine that the president of today give a speech like this one

  • FDR is my favorite President! A man of great charisma, integrity and bravery with the ability to lead a nation to it's greatest triumphs. While some say FDR knew about the attack to come, I have done much research on this as a historian and nothing has been found that FDR himself knew "Pearl Harbor" was the target. He knew that Japan would attack American territoy and many believed it would be the Philippines because that was a US possession in their way of seizing Asia.

  • The greatest U.S Democrat President in history

  • @sgt365

I agree but don´t forget to Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson, and JFK!

  • @NostalgicChannel Uh, Lincoln was a Republican.

  • @TheNatedogg56 A liberal republican

  • @TheNatedogg56 Yes, but at that time, the Republican Party was much different that the party we know now.

  • @Gianlenni Very true. Honestly, Lincoln would probably be a democrat if he were alive today. But even though the party has changed, it doesn't change the fact that Lincoln was a Republican.

  • @TheNatedogg56

so lincoln would be pro-union, pro-abortion, and leaning towards socialism?

  • @ninjaseatvegies Pro-Union, maybe: I personally think he would want to protect laborers' rights. Pro-Abortion, probably not: I'm just assuming, but I think he'd be very against abortion, but had he grown up today, when abortion is much more accepted, it could go either way. Leaning towards Socialism: if when you say that you mean, "supported a strong central government" then yes, of course.

  • @ninjaseatvegies Lincoln is pro- union and Anti-abortion! democrats are the ones that are pro-Abortion

  • @sgt365 JFK.

  • Probably the only deceleration of war we ever saw on live TV.

  • @armedyboyedik1995 even tho there were no TV's back then

  • @sgt365 Seeing as how both Lincoln and Washington were not democrats, I would have to agree with you. Otherwise, we'd have to debate for hours and still wouldn't be able to figure it out. Yes I do agree that FDR is on the same level as Lincoln and Washington in regard to what they did for our country!

  • @sgt365 There have been no great Democratic presidents. That would be impossible

  • @Wheels7137210

Agreed! FDR's reforms have been criticized by historians to actually have worsened the great depression, not recover from it.

  • @sgt365 His cousin Teddy Roosevelt greatest Republican President in history, man what happened to the Roosevelt's, now they are nothing but a street name in every city and some schools

  • @EVGINC whatever happened to "free" speech lols

  • FDR is most likely the worst president in American history. What a fraud.

  • @graddlar If he was the worst what does that make Reagan and the 2 Bush presidents? If he's the worst then you have a very twisted view.

  • @graddlar You most likely have no idea what you are talking about.

  • they , somehow made their way to south america beleive it or not... alll the decendants from shakira to noriega came from that batch.............jeje south america is a hitlers escape with the scientist he had ...jeejej. think about it your asss would be speaking jew if not for hitler ,,,, jews would have ruled the world HANDS DOWN...............

  • @qetchupandmustard firstly, jew is not a language you moron. secondly, if it wasn't for the combined efforts of the allied power of several non-batshit insane nations then we would probably be swearing loyalty to whatever fuhrer would be in power now.

  • good man (Y)

  • @EVGINC Your video on demand service? This looks like youtube and the title is misleading...

  • We need Roosevelt back

  • A bunch of these people commenting are ignorant and hateful and don't bother looking at the facts and actual happenings.

  • @Jonathannovak1 Like YOU?!?

  • @LovelySouthStar I'm not the one praising Hitler or putting down Jews.

  • @Jonathannovak1 You're insane! I had relatives that fought in the European Theater against ' the corporal.'

Who SAID I PUT DOWN JEWS?

YOU DID! I didn't and NEVER HAVE!

Is this PROJECTION ON YOUR PART-are YOU THE ONE praising that distorted evil animal?

    THE ONE PUTTING DOWN JEWS?

YES! Quit wasting my time you little twerp!

Find a job instead of playing video games and making provocative remarks!

I'll contact YT and have your account suspended for your hateful comments!

  • It is all in the past guys, dont start WW3 over pixelated knowhow..

  • @jazzman110393 Wow your really stupid, Britain was in the war from start till finish, American Forces came into the war 1943 when the Axis had been crushed in Africa and Russia.Notice how British defeated the Axis at battle of britain and stopped the invasion and humiliated the luftwaffe. How could the Axis defeated Britain? So what battle did America win that turned the tide in the war???? The battle of the Bulge lol, And D-Day was nothing the Axis were crushed 1943.

  • @jazzman110393 You really are stupid! It was British Forces who humiliated Italians in Greece and it was British Forces who defeated the Axis in N.Africa at Al Alamein whitch was the turning point in the Western Front. It was the British who decided to invade Italy after they had won in N.Africa! And D-Day was mainly to stop the Russains Communists spreading. America didnt save nobody!

  • @jazzman110393 You do know if America didnt come into the war the Axis would have lost anyway?? After the battle of Kursk 1943, The Russains were on advance to Berlin, N.Africa after the battle of Al Alamein Rommels Axis Forces were crushed and had no resources or fuel left 1942! American Forces saw there first battles in 1943!

  • @martynrobin121 The US was giving vital, supplies to the Allies and the Allies did not start to win until the US joined.

  • @jermz345 Yes i agree U.S supplies were vital to the British and Russain war effort, And your very wrong. When American Forces arrived in the war-1943, The Axis were losing on all fronts. In the Western Front (N.Africa) The British had humiliated and crushed Rommel and the Axis Forces 1942. And in the Eastern Front the main Axis Forces had been defeated at Moscow,Stalingrad,Lenningrad,Kursk 1941-3 and were certain to lose the war. U.S saw there first actions 1943 in Tunisa.

  • @martynrobin121 Oh you saved use, LATE! stupid isolationism

  • @jazzman110393 Your an American Idiot, Who has been brainwashed by Hollywood movies about how America came into the war and defeated the Axis Alone, In Fact the Axis Alliance had been crushed before American Forces were even fit to fight! West-Battle of Britain 1940, Al Alamein 1942. East-Moscow,Stalingrad,Kursk in both fronts the Axis were been humiliated before the Americans came saw there first action!!!!

  • FDR was great go U.S.A.

  • Damn, FDR was a great orator, unlike the President's we have had.

  • What a magnificent, heroic speech! It's an indictment of duplicity and aggression. And it ends with the promise of total and complete victory. This man made American great. His decision to set no limit to military production but to go all out to produce everything needed to win that war by the US, the UK and the USSR launced American industry into unheard of realms of production. When he died, the USA owned over 90% of the word's assets.

  • @LootsEr 20th Century. Surely in one of those 60 years worth of movies you'd have noticed "20th Century Fox" and realised that.

  • @martynrobin121 Then were we be? I hope you would enjoy Stalin's world :)

Because if you were smart, you would realize how Stalin acted, and if America never joined the war, the Cold War would never have happened, Russia would have all of Europe, Japan would control all of Asia because no one was stopping them aside from us.

So, if America didn't join, Hitler would still have lost. But the world would be most likely lost in all cases.

  • @starewars Yes i know the russains communists were evil and worse than the nazis!! But if america did not come into the war they would not have been the new superpower and russia would have gained the nazi scientists and experts and there technology etc! And Britain wouldnt be in stalins world most of europe would be. The british and russains were allies! And Russia would have not taken all of europe but MOST france spain etc wouldnt ov been in communist hands!!

  • @starewars And the British Empire and maybe Russia would have turned to the Japs remember they hit the british empire forces in pacific knowing the empire was at war and could not fight a front in the pacific but with the war in the west over britain would have taken back pacific(With american supplies) etc. America and British forces wanted a front in western europe to stop the spread of communism and gain nazis technology and whatever they could out of the war!

  • FDR the man

  • @AHhighPwner - I am a huge fan of FDR but all the reforms and measures he initiated prior to WWII really did nothing to help the economy recover. As morbid as it is, what helped America get out of the Great Depression was the war itself.

  • @gabekfl FDR actually saved over 40 million jobs during the Great Depression, which was mostly before the war. And the US economy was saved after France's defeat in 1941 which was when America first joined the war. The war overrall is not what saved the US economy.

  • @TookUpTheCause

The holocaust destroyed the lives of over 20 million people, the war on the eastern front caused the death of 27 million men women and children of the Soviet union. It is well documented that Hitlers plan, after the fall of moscow was to kill 90% of the Soviet union (190 million people). How can you say that the holocaust is a lie. Where do the pictures come from? Who built the camps, where do the corpses come from. And the most important point; where did the jews go?

  • @JLAEBB The most important. Where did many Russians go before the war? Stalin was just as bad as Hitler.

  • @JLAEBB The Holocaust killed up to 11 million people. It's often claimed that WW2 cost 60 million lives, but the Nazis only killed 21 million people in total (counting the Holocaust). The Chinese Nationalists killed 10 million, the Germans suffered 5 million dead, 6 million were killed by Japan, 4 million were starved in India, and the USSR killed 13 million people during this time. The Soviets did lose 20 million people in WW2, but 13 million of them were actually killed by Stalin.

  • @JLAEBB Israel?

  • @JLAEBB So, by your logic, photos of dead bodies piled high must certainly mean they were all gassed to death. It couldn't be any other reason, right? Never mind diseases within the camps that's quite common during wartime when prisoners are kept in such close proximity. It's all about the gas chambers. Ok, you're a mad genius.

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28

No, they were not all gassed to death, the nazis also did very funny things such as forcing jews to lie in icy water for several hours. They machinegunned people who went to close to the fence, without warning. They also starved many people to death. Made some work beyond exhaustion. But yes, most were killed in as chambers and later cremated, and besides, even if they weren't killed in gas chambers, and all of them were killed by something else, they still die.

  • @JLAEBB

Are you a retarded?! Whats funny about killing people in an inhumane way? You really should choose you words more wisely.

  • @moloholo

It is a sarcastic remark in reply to his ridiculous argument.

  • @JLAEBB

    awesome

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28 are you a former SS? ; )

  • @Lelouch799 No, my grandfather was an Untergruppenführer. I am only a avid sympathizer.

  • @JLAEBB You cannot reason with holocaust deniers, as they assume anyone who believes so is involved in some sort of "zionist plot to takeover the world".

Hopefully someday these ignorant children will see past their racism.

  • @HolyTacoProductions

    It's fun though ;)

  • @JLAEBB not a lie but the jews seemed to have buffed up their numbers of dead jews

  • @TookUpTheCause yea where did the jews go? to mars? Hm?

  • this man knew what to do during a time of economic crisis AND war. Obama has NO idea what to do during a time of economic crisis AND war

  • @AHighPwner you mean the economic crisis and wars the previous guy STARTED and couldn't fix?

  • @nicnacnic so what, FDR fixed the economic crisis started by the admistration's before him...

  • @ReDsOxFaN4LiFe1 becouse they are jews

  • To add, this was constitutional. Declaration of war no longer happens, it was thrown out in 1964.

  • About time!! 45 months too late

  • My friends this was a real leader. Not like what we got today

  • @jappa10 thats for damn sure

  • @jappa10 No - he was a traitor. He waged war on Germany behind the backs of the American people, & failed to warn them about Pearl Harbor though he knew about it in advance - because 90% of Americans wanted no part of war with anyone at the time & he had promised Churchill he would find a way to get us into war. After repeated failed attempts at peace with the war-monger Churchill, & ignoring military attacks by Roosevelt, Hitler pleaded with Japan not to attack the US, but they didn't listen.

  • @jappa10 i got news for you buddy. what we got today is a carbon copy of what people have always had for all of history. this lying prick new japan was going to attack us and let it happen, because he had been deliberately poking at them for months before the attack.

  • @jappa10 yeah or this century for that matter. I'm still waiting for a president that can get America out of the recession. Bush and Obama haven't/ aren't doing the job.
