  • Im here because i jus saw mcenroe in an adam sandler movie

  • Mac is really fit these days. He still wants it in every match. His verbal outbursts are all real and always were. He gets frustrated that he can't quite deliver what he did as a player. That's unrealistic but in his mind he still wants to play like in 1984. Good for him.

  • Why are commentators so ignorant? The rackets and strings are NOT more explosive, they are more dead, which enables bigger swings.

  • @dodododa ...have you ever heard of babolat? lol they're powerful rackets. or how about rpm blast? that's spin and power. head rackets are powerful too.

  • @cain2335 I use a Babolat Pure Drive with Big Bangers (similar to RPM). Compared to a heavy old racket with natural gut, it is NOT powerful. But you can take a massive cut at the ball, enabling huge top spin, which thus enables you to keep the balls in play, thus you can generate more pace with confidence. Have a feel of some unstrung RPM Blast, is it springy, or is it stiff? Use your head, stop perpetuating the lie.

  • @dodododa lol that's bc you're using big banger. those are control strings. i use alu power myself (it's a control string contrary to the name).

  • @cain2335

Obviously he's a closet hacker with his attempt at internet bullying. See my reply to him below. He has no idea what he's talking about. Don't sweat him ;-)

  • @dodododa

Actually it is you who are ignorant as well. Lab test have always shown very minor differences in velocity off different strings, and the raquets are stiffer, with larger sweet spots and thus more powerful. Current thinking is that the the elasticity vs friction of polyester in recovering quickly from ball deformation is the source of increased spin.

  • @datacipher You put some natural gut in a metal frame and tell me it isn't more powerful. The large sweet spot adds to my argument that current setups are more controlled, not more powerful than older setups.

  • that image of lendl clumping that racket to the hand on selve, was a very vivid image in my head through all these years. Great to watch that again.

  • that ball still runs like the wind.. :)

  • ooh! i did not know that! thanks!!

  • Why is Ivan wearing a tent?

  • @brocanova He's quite fat around the middle haha

  • Why did they get McEnroe's granddad to play this match? Oh hell, that's John, my bad....

  • So since when these two legends played baseline games? Where were their S&V?

  • @Vhsmith37 mac hurt his ankle and couldnt move well, so he stayed back. he ended up giving the match to Lendl bc he couldn't go on with the match. and Lendl never serve and volleyed except at wimbledon

  • @Vhsmith37 Lendl was strictly a baseliner

  • @ARTZY64 most of the time. he did serve and volley at wimbledon

  • @cain2335 Yeah, I know.. he also went with a bigger racquet, Mizuno, at least one year at Wimby. He also came into the net on other surfaces, but usually after a heavy deep forehand. He said he would trade all his other tournament victories for one Wimbledon championship.

I remember one year at Wimby he was up a set (2-1 I think) and a break against Becker... then there was a lengthy rain delay. The rest is history.

  • Mac's still got that great volley.

  • Boy, Lendl appears to have really gained some weight!!! : O

  • @vanni9283

Up until quite recently before this, Lendl was crippled by back problems caused from his career. It seems he has had some series of surgery which is alleviating the problems - and so he is playing himself back into some sort of fitness. Right now (Jan 2012) he is looking pretty good - and seems to have got back into playing ok).
