  • I'm Back...needed some revenge..."Chunga's Revenge"

  • To tell you the truth I don"t know much about guitars!! I played a long time ago in a group, now a days I just want to jam . But I have good taste! I'm obsessed with Fender (I was a gibson guy) I tried the Olympic Pearl yesterday and I like the S-1 switching that offers other distinctive tonal options. Thanks for your answer and keep playing that Zappa, pleASE.

  • I"m in between buyng a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash Aged Cherry Burst MN

    for 2150 USD or a

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Olympic Pearl MN

    1900 USD

Witch one do you think is better+? I am in Sweden so there is no mutch choise in price. I apreciate your advice . love your playng

  • @MrAlvatroz

Thanks for the compliment & for subscribing. From what I've read the specifications of the Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster are the same regardless of colour, so, if that's correct, one thing you might want to bear in mind is how long the white strat will stay white. I bought a white strat about 30 .years ago and after ten years or so it became a brownish colour, which still looks great, but perhaps not to everyone's taste.

Have you considered a Strat Plus?

  • What model of guitar is that?

  • @MrAlvatroz

It's a 1991 Fender Strat Plus De Luxe - it's still as it arrived from the shop; completely standard.

  • @ekul785

Thanks very much. The pickups are Fender-Lace Sensors. They came as standard with the guitar (a Fender Strat Plus De Luxe) when I bought it back in 1991. It's got a red Lace Sensor in the bridge position, a silver one in the middle and a blue one in the neck position.

  • sounds like alan holdsworth playing zappa... sick nast. can you describe what modes you are using to solo here. thanks

  • @memalley

Thanks very much. This is mostly played using a sort of modified Dorian mode (i.e. a Dorian mode with the odd passing note thrown in) - using the tremolo to slur some of the notes makes it sound a bit more "out".

  • Amazing guitar player!

  • @TheRodrigoaquino

    Thanks very much indeed.

  • Nice stuff... thanks for posting... Music Is The Best!! Zappa is God!!

  • The Muffin Men do a great version of this tune on the Frankincense album.

  • Hi Kev. Fantastic work! Just another reason why I am a subscriber.

I'm really into your album. I'd recommend to everyone!

  • Very nice...have you seen Warren C's version?

  • @Blueslide

Do you mean Warren Cuccurullo? I haven't heard him do "Chunga's", but I have seen a video of him playing "Transylvania Boogie" - very good indeed. Have you heard the Gotan Project's version of Chunga's Revenge? It's well worth checking out.

  • @Kev3542 You are right...I went back and it was Transylvania Warren did. Still diggin' your posts. I did check out the Gotan Project and it was very nice, just not my thing though.

  • Hi Kev,

Here little tiny Holland again, Love the Frank Zappa work. The speed/velocity.

    will check some more video.

Thanks for all the pleasure and goospocks.

  • Thanks very much - and thanks for taking an interest, too. Zappa's music is unique - I can think of no one quite like him.

  • That run from 1:47 to 1:54 was golden.

It's all great but that phrase stuck out for me

    Nice work.

  • Thanks very much indeed.

  • * * * * * for u.

  • Amazing! I might be posting up some FZ jams myself. You make the backing track yourself?

  • Fantastic choice Kev. Great playing, you can never get enough zappa!

  • Great job as always Kev. Is this a backing track your playing to or did you put this together. with your laptop, software, EZ Drummer...etc. etc.

  • Sounds incredible, like always! Love the whammy work, wild stuff. Thanks for sharing!!!

  • Very nice, great job Kev!

  • Good God! I got here before the sycophants!

  • Goddamn! - and I was just about to send you an email saying "not even Jeff Beck could rescue Morrisey's voice, but maybe this guy could" (followed by a link to this video).
