  • I cant imagine living in the states and hearing the same old Van Halen/ZZ Top/Boston stuff day after day. Canada has the greatest rock which, interestingly IMO, features a more progressive edge than music in the States. Nothing beats Prism, Triumph, Saga, Gowan, Honeymoon Suite and many others.

  • I've been a fan for over 30 years, and, I will always be one. 'Never Surrender' is by far my favorite album, and, this song, and, 'Battle Cry' are my favorite tunes on the record. I never get tired of hearing them. They have resonated with me from the first time I heard them. I just wanted to say thanks. When a lot of things in music were negative, Triumph were positive, and, that meant everything to me. Thanks again, and, God Bless.

  • Triumph,Rush,April Wine... The holy trinity of Canada.

  • I remember sitting with my dad, and he was showing me a ton of bands. Some I'd heard (Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Steppenwolf), then he turned on this very song, and I absolutelty fell in love with Triumph. This is one of those songs, and Triumph is one of those bands, where you just get lost in the music. It absolutely captivates you. AMAZING.

  • What a great band and the powerful voice that when you hear it it is unmistakeably Triumph! Love it, always did.

  • most yr comments are great to read and recent i seem to recall they played a highschool dance here but i was sooo stoned on hightest ganga it could have been rush or goddo or highscholol confidential back then... made in the shade friends and lovers of triumph ...uezzzz

  • Triumph's music was the exact opposite of the darker parts of my youth. When I needed to know I had in me what it took to survive and be a good person, there was Triumph. When I didn't need to be preached at, just pointed to the brighter side of things, there was Triumph. When I felt alone in a great big world, where it was hard to keep my eyes on any kind of hope, there was Triumph. Thank you guys, you didn't have to, but you did.

  • I love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!especially this song. "Don't you know a part of you ispart of me?" Christos

  • Triumph is my favorite band and your music is so under rated. It is so amazing that the band members sometimes reply. I am doing a project on canadian music and I gave TRIUMPH a glowing mention. Just keep on rockin and I'll keep listening

  • That song just made me cum.

  • I first listened this bands song good,hi,my name is HIRO,Jap=)LOL!Now searching Good GUY AND BICTH NO! Metal WOMAN!THANKS!

  • wow what a fuckin great band !!!!!! there just in a class of there own !!!!! they just blow me away every time i listen to them !!!!!!!

  • Awesome! I don't think anyone had such a range and solid performance as Triumph in

those days! the closest would be Rush then Journey. Triumph was my first concert,

here in Louisville,ky. The band was TEARIN THE ROOF OFF TONIGHTas I remember.

WOW that really set the stage for all rock and roll concerts for me!(Quality, and JAM) all in one

package. Thanks for a fun and continuing life full of rock!

  • @TRay45678 Please don't ever ever compare anyone to Rush... and expect to live...lol Just bustin your chops but seriously...

  • totally in love with this band, i didn't know it till a very good friend of mine shows me Lay it on the line, after that I think that a should love him forever for do me that huge favor. I was missing of listening such a great band.

  • Rik you are one of the greatest (the greatest in my opinion ) guitarists ever then seeing you acoustic blew me away I can see your blues influence .Your voice is unreal .Your lyrics are deep.I bet you cant write a song I wouldn't like .lmao do you have a web site with tour info?

  • who doesnt love these guys another Canadian power trio Rik playing lead guitar and vocals I wish you guys would have a reunion tour and new music I saw Rik at Annapolis MD at The Rams Head he blew me away .I remember hearing rock and roll machine at a party people were freaking out saying this has to be motorhead its so heavy .When we heard it was Triumph I was floored I saw them in Washington DC at the capitol Center in the 80s Rik if you are responding to these let me know where to get tour in

  • Another effin fantastic tune by Triumph!! TY!!!

  • One jammin MotherFucker not 2 mention the lyrics!

  • I'm 43 now and I've been a fan of Triumph since I was 14-or 15 yrs old. I still love hearing the older songs, excellent melody seamlessly combined with excellent "rock" tunes. It is so cool to see comments from young kids & teenagers today that are finding Triumph & liking them as well. You dont hear real music like this anymore these days! Thanks guys, I'm a fan forever!

  • I love triumph now i have passed all my life with you nut now i discover you i¨m so glad hello from spain

  • No matter what I've been around 52 years and I know alot about music and Triumph had a Magic that very Few had.Theres a difference between Music and Timeless Music. They will still be listening to Triumph in the 31st Century.I saw some of You guys in St.Louis about 2-3 years ago and You came out to the gate and signed our stuff and where Very Gracious which Denise De Young didn't so thanks

  • they just dont have bands like this anymore

  • Its amazing how some true musicians sound amazing in concert, how their music continuous to live on, their sound maybe somewhat outdated but shows soul, spirit, colour, profound depth ......................................just Fu**en great music.

  • In the same catagory as Rush(BADDASS)!

  • I've listened to this song many times now and it gets me every time. You radiate the true power of rock n' roll and it's killing me how Triumph is still underrated to this very day and never got the recognition you deserved. I mean there are no words to describe your music, since it's beautiful and magical on one side and powerful and heavy on the other side, just perfect. I mean this world lost all good taste for music and that will some day mean the end of it, so I take Triumph to my grave...

  • My favorite Triumph album, such a killer tune. Really love the solo in this one, great tone too.

  • great example of studio productions with a live sound so much mishmash now a days!

  • Wow, Rik really is such a rare musician. Not many people I've ever known of can sing so well and play guitar so technically well...where did this guy come from?

  • This song is the best listening to so much. saw rik at hughs room played this song it was mind blowing your vocals and guitar playing is truly a blessing keep it up

  • I would be SO SO honored if you went to watch me play guitar on one of my videos on here. Leave a comment please I will be so stoked!!!

  • You putting all those finger style tunes on your records made me the guitarist I am. I learned them note for note using my record player slow speed 78. My claim to local fame in the 80s was FINGER TALKING. Your voice is supernatural on this video. Also I married a Canadian. Peace and much respect to you guys I wish we were here again. I only saw you live one time. It was in Dallas Texas in the early 80s and I think two other bands maybe Molly Hatchet or April Wine DO you remember that show?

  • OMG why was I born in the 90s if only I were around in the 80s if only. music today suck I only listen to music before my time =]

  • Just the best damn guitar player/singer/songwriter

  • I'm 49 and every time I get slammed to the ground, broken, feeling dispair, I put Triumph on. One of the most underrated rock bands in history. Epic riffs, and magical lyrics. Thanks man your work has saved me more times that I can tell you... and yes inspiration comes hard... w/ Triumph you will!

  • I Love Triumph one classy Hard Rock Group hope you guy's get back together put out an album/CD and open up for the reformed original Black sabbath, now there's a cool thought!!

  • @TriumphAlliedForces was able to talk to my fav band on the phone via KZAP rockline in 83 or 84

  • Go to the US Festival 83' set and this song. It's on here. Amazing.

  • Saw Rik last night in New Hampshire. That note still gets up there pretty high. Awesome show. You still have that Magic Power. Dave Dunlop was awesome. Thanks for adding fight the good fight after that fan yelled it about 50 times.

  • wow an artist that will read and respond--- thank you Rik. The dreams of this 45 year old are different from 30 yrs. ago however one thing hasn't changed ,the inspiration I get from your lyrics and your vocal range that hammer's home the lyrics.

    again thank you,

    David Crisp

  • DAMN! That middle section? My God, that is so bad-ass, Rik.

  • I'm only 16 but l have to admit, I never really listened to Triumph until recently (a year or two ago I bought some of your songs off iTunes), but I don't think you got the recognition that you deserve. Triumphs songs are truly inspirational, and the vocals are among the best I've ever heard. You have yourself another Triumph fan in me. Thanks for the great music!

  • @BretHardy1 Bret ..Thanx for your words of support. I am beaming with delight as I read your comments on TRIUMPH’s music. I hope that you continue to discover more tunes that you enjoy. Rock on!!! - Mike

  • @TriumphAlliedForces Dudes. I saw several shows. I continue to sing , drum and talk Triumph nearly 30 years later. Dont know what the deal is. Your all still living! You all still have it! I just parted with a band after 5 years and was soooo bumbed. And we had nothing as intense and great as Triumph! My all time favorite band. And I speak for many friends!!!!! RIP

  • @BretHardy1 Hey Bret if you enjoy Triumph I'm sure you would enjoy RUSH, the greater twin of triumph....

  • I'm 15, and Triumph has been my favorite band since I was in preschool. My dad would play the tapes on the way there. Thunder Seven was, and is my favorite.

  • @byPetra Fantastic story ..I am ecstatic that you still love that album, as I do, after all those years. Do your friends like TRIUMPH??? - Mike

  • @TriumphAlliedForces @Mike Maybe two. Lol. If today's music didn't brainwash kids then that number would surely be higher. -Pete

  • @byPetra

right on, start from the start, then proceed, if you skip this era, you will definitely come back later,so consume them now...make your own mark, you're on the right track, again, remember where it all came from, and you will be thankful in the long run...rock on

  • Wow, brings me right back to the days of b-loads & Budweisers. We flat wore out multiple cassettes of Allied Forces. It was all about Triumph, Tesla, & Iron Maiden, a '67 primered grey Camero & a Blaupunkt deck . Thank You for making the music I grew up on, it's much appreciated.

  • Remember this from highschool and still to this day,Awsome song guys. And this and time goes by are my all time favorite.Hero's pass away but the music wont till the earth passes away. And man you guys are great live too bad I never got to see you guys I wasn't allowed to go to concerts.

  • thumbs up if you also love the drum fill at 2:02

  • a real power rock group, an a legend

  • No matter how much time goes by... the music remains the most elemental medium. Triumph proved over and over again... that they could delivery the raw

engery that only rock music can. Thanks to these musicians that gave us great music, great memories... and forever one of Canada's best bands

  • man that brings back memories.

Love your tone from back then, what amps/effects were you using?

  • This is one of the most underaded band of all time.they should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.some one ask me if they where a christen band.I would they are really close.I think the christen music guys would let them in.I hope to that I get to there just due someday in my life time

  • Great band!

  • That dude has a voice!

  • I remember seeing you guys play Toledo Ohio, the Speedway Jam back in the early 80s. I've been going to concerts for damn near 30 years. and your performance was without a doubt one of the best in those 30 years, In fact Triumph, Rush, and Queensryche are my top favorite concert memories of all time.

If you ever come back to Toledo you can bet I'll be right there in the audience

  • @webdoc It was without a doubt, these amazing bands performed amazing live, and their music has endured so many years later.. when still they cannot repeat the past... so cheers to the music that defined our generation and gave us our voice

  • After reading these comments, I am pleasantly surprised that the members of Triumph actually repsond to Youtube postings (Referring to Rik Emmett). What a class act.

  • Thanks @rtypepe. Just trying to keep faith with some of the people who gave me a career in the first place. I don't do it to try and look classy; I do it because it just seems to make sense to me ... Natural, logical ... a responsibility that comes with the territory of being a public figure, making music for a living. Heyyyyy --- maybe it was just good 'indie' career management, long before that became the standard for everyone in the modern digital era ... ?!? ... - Rik

  • @TriumphAlliedForces

Hey Rik thanks for replying to my post!! You must be the hardest working man in the biz.... You are truly the real deal in the music world (many can learn from you). Your dedication to your craft, to the music and to the audience shows. Thanks for the music memories of the past, but also thanks for the new stuff too!! May you have many years of great music making.

  • @TriumphAlliedForces Well said Rik ..well said! :D

  • @rtypepe I'm with you man, I'm just a 16 year old kid in a band with my brother and friend and we're a three piece band and we absolutely adore that which is Triumph, I hope Rik sees this and knows how much it means to us to see him responding to us. He truly is a hero in the field of rock n' roll music along with Gil and Mike. If you see this Rik, you still have plenty of kids jamming to your tunes in the car.

  • These guys came all the way to grace us with their presence in Corpus Christi, Texas!!! I saw them with Scorpions. CRAZY times!!!! Okay, so I'm dating myself, haha.

  • Can't believe: That kind of songs exists in our solar sistem :). I am very happy when i discover some of songs like this one! :)

  • Great!

  • As we grow older our dreams, they will change.

The dreams of a 15 yr old, are going to be different from the dreams of a 40 yr old.

But this songs message is ALWAYS relevant, no matter how big, or how small that dream might be, don't let it go, Our capacity to dream is what separates us from the beast, hold on to it, never let it go, and never, never surrender it. Thanks Triumph.

  • @Graiskye You're welcome. When we had our reunion, Gil was very insistent that 'Never Surrender' needed to be in the set list, even though I simply can't hit those high notes from the original key anymore. So we transposed it down from Em to Bm, and now I even throw the song into my solo acoustic shows now, because Gil had reignited my faith in that lyric, and that really cool reggae / rock groove that he came up with. - Rik

  • @TriumphAlliedForces Thanks so much for this post and site...Never Surrender is such a great song, and as a drummer...wow, what a great pattern...the "stages" version shows incredible drumming fills and talent as well as arguably Rik's best vocal ever.....A loyal fan since the first time I heard lay it on the line played on CHOM fm in Montreal...so glad I live in Vermont and close to the Canadian border..I have triumph on my license plate and will always be my favorite band..Thanks Guys....

  • One of the mist underade bands ever. Can someone please tell how come they are not in the rock and hall of fame.I hope someday

  • Rik Emmett's vocals and guitar playing were always something to behold. These were very memorable shows to see, I'm just glad I was able to be there.

  • He teaches where my Father-In-Law taught. (Humber College) Rik is one of the best of all time. Saw him not to long ago in Ottawa.....Still Amazing. Keep on Keeping On Mr.Emmett.

  • yep rick was one of the best axe men of his time..but overlooked by many...

  • this song is the bomb

  • Rik (all the guys) is great !!! They had alot of great heavy tunes!! Remember watching them on Tv at the US Festival..

  • Triumph is the first rock band I've seen in my life

    Montreal Forum back in 85!!! : p

  • @69stepe They we're the first Rock band for me too, back in 1976.
