  • were can you get a fan????????????plz now

    dftba

  • can you use normal glass

  • how do you make thac black part and were do you but the drt ice and the plexcy glass

  • lol just kidding

  • how do we make it????

  • wow, its epic man...

  • looks awesome and simple.

  • AA combination of both

  • DID U USE WOOD GLUE OR SCREEWS

  • i,m going to do this for the science fair this year. oh yeah!

  • How long can it last anyway?

  • @7249xxI,you can buy it at your local market like FRY's that's were I buy it.I live in Mesa Arizona so if you live in Arizona or any part of Arizona then buy it from frys its only $3.00!

  • how do you get or make dry ice

  • Where can you buy plexy-glass?

  • @traurigaberwahr100

I got it at Home Depot....Lowes will have it as well....I suppose any home improvement or hardware store will have it....I used masking tape and a tablesaw to cut it....then use sandpaper to clean up the edges

  • would this version work on a much larger scale for stage and theatrical use? and could this work with dirt in stead of the chemical reaction you used?

  • @brayrow ...hmmm a larger scale.....sure why not..a bigger fan would be interesting...not faster...too high a speed would not encourage the rotation needed...and dirt....umm I have been thinking about this and initially I would have to say no...but since a stage production is what you are trying to do this for....how about some stage fog and make it brown by combining blue and green lights...or brown lights if they make em....if you do this I would love to see the final result

  • @tommydjay Thanks, and I'll keep you updated if we can get the final production down well

  • would this version work on a much larger scale for stage and theatrical use?

  • Cardboard??? Unless you know of some clear cardboard, I would think not.....the vortex needs four sides to form and the gaps are there to encourage proper rotation

  • Can u Use a Card Board Box

  • Thanks for replying about the smoker...I did the experiment a while ago and ended up making real smoke with charcoal and moist woodshavings..only moderately succesful but that what there was....The students got the idea though...

  • i am impress

  • Question: since I cannot get dry ice here, is it possible to do this, say with an incense cone to create smoke? And...could I put a hairdryer (on cold air) into the hole in stead of the fan? And... are the air directions crucial or will any slot on all sides do?

    Would really appreciate your response....

  • @MarionMaor i used an ultrasonic mister instead of dry ice. It costs less and it lasts longer. I would recommend this, since it worked for me.

  • were do you get dry ice

  • @melol17 any grocery store...you have to ask for it.

  • what the hell!!!

  • dry ice smoke=not toxic right?

  • that is way cool i made my own b4 and i used a piece of clear pipe like big pipe and i stuck a vacum cleaner motor on the bottom then i fixed mmy smoke machine at the top and made it air tight then i turned it on it looked like a tornado and beacuse its air tight just 10 secs of smoke last about 10 mins i tried it once with fag smoke and it doesnt have the same effect the fag blew evrywhere, smoke machine are cheap some u can get for $25 or £15 in th =e uk let me know how urs works if u make 1

  • is it possible for this to lift bits of paper like sothey can fly around

  • oh, and instead of a wooden back, could i use 4 pieces of plexi glass

  • will a halloween fog machine work sir?

  • @relevationisnow

It's too foggy. I tried it on my tornado generator and within a few minutes it fogged up the entire room.

  • @astraltraveler1984 I agree. Same thing happened to me and I couldn't see within two feet in my room.

  • @astraltraveler1984 Alright cool, i just got mine done the other night for my school project. I had to use a fog machine at the time since i didn't have dry ice in my pocket.@ minutes later and my fire alarm went off :P. Its also harder to see the fog with a fog machine im guessing because my tornado was not very vivid

  • wow amazing

    thumps up

  • AWESOME

  • HI TOMMY...LISTEN ME AND A COUPLE OF CLASSMATHES HAVE TO MAKE A TORNADO FOR OUR METHEOROLOGY CLASS...BUT I DON´T KNOW WHAT KIND OF FAN WE SHOULD USE, CAN U PLEASE HELP ME? US? THANX!!!

  • Very cool! I have built my own too, working the same way. I think the ultrasonic fogger (mister) is the best way to create fine and dense mist, because not everyone can afford a dry ice.

  • is or was that a cpu fan? lol

  • okay well besides dry ice what are other possibilities and are there any and a diagram of how it works would help??plz

  • @zarnie532 besides dry ice??? umm I suppose boiling water....or..a bunch of little smoke bombs...maybe....a large amount of confetti....

  • @zarnie532 DIAGRAM??? its a box with a hole in the top for the fan...I just made the walls clear so you can see it

  • @zarnie532 You can use an "Ultrasonic Water Fogger" to create the fog.

  • @zarnie532 i used an ultrasonic mister instead of dry ice. It costs less and it lasts longer. I would reccomed this if you have a budget...

  • can you show us how ypu made it

  • @cheshirepuss1 I MADE IT OF WOOD... PLEXIGLASS, A FAN FROM A OLD DELL AND A LITTLE BIT OF PATIENCE....DRAW IT OUT....QUITE EASY ACTUALLY

  • @cheshirepuss1 okay well besides dry ice what are other possibilities and are there any and a diagram of how it works would help??plz

  • help me do a tornado

  • every where u look everyone like to say fake on youtube they should like recive a fake trophy awards! haha! :D

  • Hey... I am making a tornado machine for my physics class but i just want to know how large is it i u could tell me the size of it would be great... How big do i buy the glass i mean is it ok 8x16 inches or what??? Please tell me

  • how do u hold the plexiglass in place with the wood??

  • @iJJRemmeSODMG i made small 1/2 inch channels for the plexiglass to slide in....kinda like what holds in the glass of a regular window

  • Comment removed

  • what was the top and bottem made out of

  • @chipperjns1 wood...plain ol' plywood

  • you are so assom but coud you just tell me what the top and bottem was and what kinde of fan was that

  • thts beast

  • You know, I've watched this video like 5 times now and you should changed the title because this doesn't actually explain how to make it... Because I got my fan out of my old dell too (someone threw away my gateway while we were in the process of moving) but I don't know how to power it now.

  • @MrMalevolent the fan most likely need 12 volts dc..maybe only 5....either way I used a P.I.T (plug in transformer) radio shack will have one or you probably have one laying around....and as far as showing how to make it....no, there is no step by step but I do show all the parts and and what they look like...I made this in about 3 hours of garage time and no cost...I used parts I already had...

  • Yay I have an old gateway comp laying around.

All I need is pexiglass, wood, and tools...

  • Where do you get dry ice? Home Improvement store?

  • @iJJRemmeSODMG Dry ice is available at most grocery stores....just ask....it is fairly cheap...be careful it can give a bad "burn"

  • That is so cool!!! But you should use a mist maker instead of dry ice. Dry ice works just as well but you will have to buy more eventually. you can get one of these mini mist makers here at the "mainland mart" website. Its under the Ultra sonic fogger category. Its the first one on the page!! hope it helps! You could also get one of the bigger ones that create as much fog as that dry ice.

  • ok i have two questions:

Where did you get the glass thingy?

And where did you buy that fan thingy?

  • @ChRoMaStOnE561 the glass thingy is called "plexiglass" and is available at most home improvement stores....the fan thingy was recycled from an old dell computer....you can purchase fans at best buy or a local pc shop will have them

  • @tommydjay whats the fan product called ? imma use this experiment for my science fair, thats why, nd im having trouble with the materials needed. so is the plexiglass part of the furniture thing ?

  • that is badass.

  • is the fan suking in ot blowing out?

  • @ThungerG11Vids the fan pulls the air from the edges and blows it out the top. the vortex is created because of the direction the air enters the chamber.

  • @ThungerG11Vids it sucks the air from the chamber

  • Thanks I got a A on Science Project

  • can you buy the kit

  • @123lonan I have thought of selling this on ebay....i really have no use for it now.....I also considered adding a new video every week that would include placing an object in there with it

  • uhh yeah what kind of fan is that does it blow outwards or suck the air inwards

  • ummm..it pulls air through the chamber and out of the top creating the vortex.

  • could you use a fog machine instead?

  • yeah I suppose so....but it would not have been as much fun....breaking dry ice is cool

  • oops... I think you are not replying because i wrote "i hate to give it as my science project.." What I wanted to say was I want to give it as my sceince project plzz

  • And another what is that glass thingi from..? In where u made the tornado?

  • it is plexiglass....most home improvement stores carry it...

  • What is that fan? and What else can you use other than dry Ice..? plzzz reply As soon as possible because i hate to give it as my science project.....!

  • just a tip you could put the fan on the botom of the box and create a shelf for the dry ice to stay on that way its not upsidedown. that is a great toy

  • Amazing, but i need some help. How do i make the fog or steam if i dont have a humidifier, dry ice, hot ice?

  • Your local grocery store should have dry ice.....just ask....it is really cheap....few bucks....

  • what are the size of all of the peices?

  • I think it's about 22 inches tall and 8 inches square

  • I have do do one of these in in movie. This looks like it with work shot on black then luma keysd onto the footage and tinted black. A Black tornado. One thing. Is there any way to make it undulate or ripple as if it's twisting in from left to right. This would be better when I track it on the composite?

  • umm..if chroma keying can't you make it twist or ripple however you want on the fake background

  • cool

  • U r the best person and u have the best video on how to make tornado thank I will do this

  • cool

  • how did u get the fan to work

  • Plugged it into a power supply and viola.

  • is the back wooden]

  • everything black is plywood

  • is the back of it wooden

  • can you make it to where it isnt upside down?

  • U can Make A 4 Inch tornado using a medicince bottle tha is 8 inches tall

    cost about 2.50

  • where do you get dry ice ?

  • @atvmaster1 most walmarts have them

  • wow das ist wirklich gut Kompliment : )

  • can some one tell me where i could get a fan like that

  • What city do you live in?...google is your friend...it's just a pc fan....got an old computer laying around...the fan i used was from an old dell...

  • you get them in a computer

  • @troychiasson an old desktop computer, take it apart, it takes awhile, otherwise online stores or computer accessorie stores

  • where do you get dry ice?

  • @xblackdeamon27x kroger or heb

  • i want to see it make multiple vortices

  • and how big should the structure be cuz i wanna make one of these

  • do you make the fan blow in our suck it out???

  • cool video im in 7th grade and thought of this then i looked it up on youtube and my ideas have already been though lol and a question....where can u buy that fan at?

  • how about.... RADIO SHACK =D

  • use bars of incense, they're cheap and works very well...

  • Comment removed

  • You can also use a humidifier with a tube bending and directing the humidity into the tornado maker

  • @jamesoleruster Thats what i did!

  • Cool!!!

  • where do you get dry ice

  • supermarkets often have it. I get it from vons. You have to ask one of the employees to get it for you.

  • You could get dry ice from a local gas tank seller, the kind that sell argon tanks, oxygen tanks, Neon tanks, etc... They might even sell liquid nitrogen, but you will need a special holding unit to carry it.

  • u could get dry ice at stop & shop too =D

  • any questions?! yea, do it with fire!!!

  • were did u get the dry ice , fan and did u make the box or buy

  • that was colllllllllllllllllllll you shold sell that on ebay i would by it for 34$ please sell it on ebay or craigslist then agin colllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!

  • wow that is cool

  • Why would you say it is fake

  • NO SHIT DUMBASS.

  • cool, but have u ever adjusted the size of the openings to see what happens?

    just wondering

  • is the fan inhaling or exhaling?

  • It's inhaling. It's sucking the CO2 up.

  • that's not co2 thats called water vapor

  • lmao

  • what physics factors does the tornado have?? i have to make one similar to this

  • The lord is my shepard, I have everything I need!!

  • Creating any tornado machine is much better if the dry ice is placed in a seperate air tight compartment underneath the base of the tornado, and have a sheet of pegboard as the top of this compartment.

Yhis allows the tornado to draw up the vapour through the holes in the pegboard and shows more detailed airflow patterns at the base of the funnel, such as inflow jets :)

I know this from past experience with past models, I will post some video when my simulator is up and running again :)

  • sick dude! my science teacher got a rotating plate put some chemical thing in it and lit it on fire spun the plate and it made a fire tornado... the faster he spun it just kept growing it was like 7 ft tall it was nuts u should try it

  • How did you power the computer fan? Because those are 12 volt, I think, and the only 12 volt power source I know of is a car battery...

  • I work with 12 volt fans to cool some of my smaller projects... you can use a 12 volt DC transformer for an RC car or a 9-volt batter and 2 AAs. Just don't make the mistake of connecting the red wires and using 2 black wires to try and power the circuit, I did that when I was a kid and my project failed horribly ... lol

  • Most people use dry ice to make it visible, but does dirt work?

  • Thats so cool great job. Is that a computer fan?

  • I'am gonna build me one right now!

    I've got everything I need!.

  • can you send me a link to where i can buy a fan just like that. and how do u think a bigger fan would affect the tornado?

  • wow,thats pretty kool.

  • Could it pick up any objects?

  • that super cool, 5 stars

  • where did you get the dry ice

i dont no where to get any?

  • your local grocery store :)

    its in those box things

  • you can make dry ice. its eaisy just serch how to make dry ice. on youtube

  • go to meijers and by customer service or the entrance theres a ice box labled dry ice, inside are paper bags full of dry ice... when opens you can smell co2

  • This is how people react when they are faced with something too complicated for them to understand!

  • that fan is in the c.p.u that is called c.p.u fan

  • where did you get the fan?

  • do you use a fan from like a laptop?

  • where do u get the dry ice?

  • what physics factors does the tornado have?? i have to make one similar to this

  • hey so do i! I chose to do tornadoes for my pratical assesment in physics

  • prey sweet

  • that was really cool, where did you get the glass thing around it?

  • maybe talk will do the job

  • do u need dry ice or can u use regular ice

  • you need to put a miniature cow in there and watch it spin around

  • I gonna do this for my science school project =D

Here where I live noone never heard of this thing, so I think I'll get a 10 =D

  • omg that is soo cool i want some dry ice!!! nice job

  • can you use steam? or just dry ice in hot water? or can you use anything else, please reply!!!!! btw nice tornado machine!

  • is the ice just pure frozen water, or does contain salt, etc.? please answer quickly

  • its dry ice... not normal ice u have to buy it if u touch it with bare hands it is so cold it burns ur skin off

  • it's dry ice, wich is basically pressurized and refrigerated CO2 and then expanded again and compressed into cubes, as xerxesxxxrevenge said it can burn your skin, use protection to avoid that, also if you get a piece sticked to your skin don't pull it off cuz you'll probably rip your skin, just use hot water until it evaporates

  • the bigger the bowl of water, will the tornado be bigger?

  • Yeah, if u put a big basin on it, It will be bigger =D

But, if you do this, DON'T RELEASE IT!!! o.O

It could burn ur skin ^^

  • wow so awesome!

  • yeah... very cool!

but hey, like the other guy said...

can you tell me how does it happens?

like... the reactions... or why does the air need to come from those (different) directions?

and, did you used an aquarium or something like that?? xD

    please, it's a school project!!! ^^

  • sweet

  • the fan is creating a vacuum so that air entering the simulator is manipulated by the vents on the sides (sucking air out)

  • im gonna do a school project im making a tornado machine can you give me in a list all the stuff that is needed

  • is the fan inhaling or exhaling?
