the cam seems to be very bad in regards of white balance. this doesn't look like real snow especially when you drive in open fields with lots of sunshine. it's just over-exposed. as this is considered to be a action cam for outdoor use it should be more efficient in this point.
the rest looks good. i like the stabilizer. anyway cool video!
@mikryan123 - yeah for sure... people argue about the quality between the ContourHD and HD Hero, but they have some genuine benefits of their own. The Contour does definitely have awesome image stabilization.
@nippaaa - We do have offices in Vancouver. We are located at 2050 Scotia Street, unit 105. You can check out and buy... we recommend giving us a shout prior to dropping by just to ensure that we have the stock you are seeking. 1-877-768-2261
@TheRunnaMAN No, it is water resistant and can handle the elements... the water proof case is for instances when you are going to physically take it into the lake, ocean, or if you play to take it white water kayaking - and sports like that. Otherwise, you are good to play in the snow, rain, etc as it is.
@marclamey Camera can freeze up due to the battery shaking inside the camera and losing contact. This is a known problem with some earlier cameras but has been fixed recently. You can wedge something between the battery and back cover to secure the battery better. Newer batteries fit better.
With the new Firmware Update just released you can now adjust Video Bit Rate, Microphone Sensitivity as well as the Contrast, Exposure, Sharpness, and Metering.
Turning down microphone gain and the exposure would have made this video that much better.
i would say leave it at default gain or turn it down a bit, the faster the speed and the more wind the lower the gain setting should be. it' something you have to experiment with
I have had mine a while i thought you could only upload conteur hd footage to the vholdr website how do u upload it to youtube? just upload em onto ur desktop or a folder and upload on youtube browse n go? thanks for any help
Great video! What/how did you mount the camera? It looked so stable! Also, is the Vholdr Contour waterproof? And finally, was this recording at 30fps or 60fps?
Yeah I love Whistler, although these days I've been spending more time in the backcountry near Pemberton.
The ContourHD is the only HD helmet cam on the market right now. If you don't need HD, the POV 1.5 from VIO is a great cam. Check out my video from CBC trail to see how well they wight balance works coming in and out of shadows.
What an awesome place! Will probably get me one of these cameras soon :) looks like it has some problems with the contrast in the snow but I doubt there are any better alternatives.
thumbs up if you're from BC!
