What's the big fuss about????? At least the guy with the white tee shirt has a pair of gloves and has his OSHA approved fire dept. ball cap on! On a serious note, I am a current 27yr member of a small town 'volly' dept, and I can honestly say we do not go to fires dressed like this. But I do remember guys like this when I first joined many years ago. Glad to say scenes like this are unheard of in my county.

@cminksful . Just look through youtube and its clear both sides screw up just as much as the other. So please stop labeling all volunteers based on one stupidly run fire department. Another paid FD few hundred miles from ours backed their aerial rig right through the back of their station.. I consider that just as stupid as this video.

I would work next to any of the local Vol. stations near us. Their by far better then this videos FD.

I'm not disagreeing the guys in this video or complete idiots, I'm just saying not all vollies or like the ones in the video shown. the discussion here shouldn't be about vollies in total, but the ones in this video who lack common sense and training.

i could link videos of some career guys with out proper ppe, but that's not the point I'm trying to make. Don't bash them all for one poorly run vfd. Just my thoughts, no big deal.

what is one guy gonna do bringing an engine by himself? that is both dangerous and stupid. risk management goes out the window in this video. I would love to read the S.O.P's for this fire dept.

@prattfan1 They would have to HAVE SOP's for you to be able to read them. Bringing an engine by yourself in itself is not necessarily a bad thing if FF's are responding to the scene in their vehicles and have gear with them. Doing what these guys are doing is just plain stupid.

The one in turnout gear brought an engine because nobody else showed at the fire house. The guys w.o are a crew from fdny that happened to be in the neighborhood. This is what i heard awhile ago

Regardless of who the joker is on the roof with the line, there is only one firefighter in full PPE on the roof. I don't need to see the rest of the video, this 14 seconds was enough.

@78ntm Usual protocol says we have to start any tools on the ground before we get on the roof. That way it will probably start the first time we try rather than having a situation like this guy did. If that's what he was trying to do..Idk. Maybe he's just a dumbass.

Did not see it all. So I am not sure about whats going on. But it looks like he getting the firefighter off the roof. Not sure but it sounds pretty noisy and I have heard alot of radio traffic and voice commands that are missed on the fire ground.

I am all for PPE but I also would not just sit there and let one of my guys get hurt. So unlike others I will reserve judgement until I see all of the video. Looks like someone edited the video for us to see what they wanted us to see to me.
