  • Steve Ford is from Canada and Leda Ford is from Brazil.

  • Brazilian accent, isn'i it ?

  • Thanks very much:)

  • Thanks so much!

YOUTUBE is one of the best way to learn a new language, specially english.

My native tounge is spanish but, I'd like to speak and understand english perfectly... my reasons?.. well, FRIENDS, EUROVISION, A GOOD JOB, FOR FUN, etc.

I'm very glad to find this kind of video, maybe this sounds a little crazy but I feel I can be in U.S.A, Canada, UK... I don't need to get out of my bedroom... LOL.

if I keep learning english thanks to these videos.. my dreams will come true!

    :)

    Thanks!

  • • Thank you for this video and I wish you health and wellness, as well as you can get discounts for International ID DXN number 1420-31106 or join my group

  • I would like to recommend you an ebook which helped me to find a job , I bought it on Amazon (very cheap) you have to write in search the title 30 MOST COMMON INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS (by Anna Piekarczyk), it's really worth buying and learning from for your job interview in English

  • egypt arabic center for development our language what ever this language arabic, english, french or spanish

  • Perfect, Steve! You are the best!

  • You said 3 hellos, I demand 3 byes

  • Isn't it a bit naiv to answere the question "what are your weaknesses" with "I work too much" ?!

  • Comment removed

  • It's too true! the job market is tougher and tougher with more and more people competing for the same job in certain fields. My overall message remains the same though. Focus on the positive aspects of your work experience and minimize any weaknesses through euphemisms. I'll try to include a few in the sample questions and answers in my upcoming Business Podcast.

  • being a perfectionist seem to be such a common answer.. its actually turning off so many interviews now..any alternate response?

  • thank you

  • Hi Steve. I am from the Philippines and will be taking IELTS on the 19th without enrolling to any review centers or workshops. I have just discovered your site today and this is good. I am checking out more of your posts.

  • Thanks a lot! Many people don't valorize what you have been doing to the people . This is a kind of example I want to follow in my carrer...

I'm from Espírito Santo, Brazil and I've been studying for just one year.

  • nice lesson. it would work somehow for my job interview as well, i think. great

  • time is money , why do i have so much time but i have no money

  • what do you mean when someone says what the HECK???

  • @sharonshane26 Good question! Heck is a polite way of not saying 'hell'. :)

  • Thanks for the vid. I like the way you talk. It's very clear and easily understandable. Most Americans I've met and chatted with speak in a slang which, in our book, means 'to mumble or speak unclearly'. All of the words seem to run together and it is sometimes hard to tell when a sentence ends and another starts. Your English, on the other hand, is very easy to follow. I guess you're a born (English) teacher. ^_^ Please keep up the good work.

    Steve

  • Hi Steve, my name is Heiga, I am a brasilian guy and I´m in Rio de Janeiro now just waiting for a interview with the Disney cruise lines...I will have a interveiw with them by video conference at the next week...I am learning a lot by your videos and I want to thank you for this help...

  • you have to know that he say's suit and tie....;D

(i'm from germany and it was hard to hear that)

  • Good to know! I was just talking with an advanced student from France and we were talking about trying to understand when native speakers speak more quickly e.g. suit and tie = suit 'n tie

Keep up the great work on the listening!

    Steve

  • I' m also from Germany and I understood everything perfectly by listening to it the first time. great video steve.

  • @PrivateEnglishPortal

I' m also from Germany and understood everything perfectly by listening to it the first time. great video steve

  • thanks alot steve

  • you are very welcome!!!!!!!

  • ke onda no lo tienen con subtitulos....

I was kidding.... thanks for your videos... probably I can improve my english...

  • it's hard to learn English just by hearing and not making practice, and sharing talking with others!

  • I am certain you will find something better! Doing job interviews is a training course all by itself.

  • i missed one job cos of wht is your weekness question..:((((

  • nice job

  • Thanks Steve for the good efforts you provided.

  • im looking forward to see more lessons like this, because i didn't have such confident like them..i can't even speak or write correctly..

    ) :

  • The interviewing women seems to be brazilian, doesn't she?

  • great video thanx ,iam waitting for more from you ,thank you again.

  • yeah kingarther19 , I was in touch with a lot, ok :D ....a few ....online teachers, video makers, some of them are really smart and funny, but somehow Steve Ford's video lessons I remember the best and they taught me most

    they are worth watching them

  • As my pre commenters. These videos are great.

@Grealsa. If you don't like them, just don't watch. There's enough "unhappy" stuff here youtube, I'm sure you'll find something suitable.

  • BTW, this is one of my favourites

We all often act freaky and telling nonsense on the job intervews when we are not prepared what 'they' would ask us about

Guys, watch it and go to a Job Interview, but not to meet a shrink or your friend or smth

That girl is just great, Steve

  • stop being so happy.... its boring

  • Poor Grealsa, are you an EMO? Well, you do have opportunities - to find a teacher like your old fashioned warty one who was teaching you in maths, and whom you were in love with, obviously. Or - to read those really interesting textbooks till you start to feel dizzy :)

Would you just sit quiet there in your grey office dear sad accountant, and let us have fun while learning, eh? Just so you to know - the emotional memory is the strongest one.Warm regards.Ani

  • I definetely agree with anni4ka! If you find it easy, go to the bookstore and get yourself milion pages books or a teacher who can really show you what real learning means. Steve is awesome! He is teaching us in such a funny and great way - check out the other vidoes - I am 100% sure you will fall in love with them. You know why? Because you learn by watching, listening, laughing and you don't even pay for watching these videos. You really don't appreciate the work of someone who works hard.

  • Thank you for the interview tip. This is one of the question which I have had the most difficult time answering, "What is your biggest weakness?". If I encounter this type of question agan, I will build an anwer which will work towards my advantage instead of lowering my position due to such question. Throw the ball back to their court, and do the offending verse the defending.

  • I'm glad you got the overall message from this video! Good job !

  • thank you Steve ;)

  • Great video! Many thanks for another very useful lesson, Steve! I'm a fan of all your videos! Thanks!

  • Well, " kwaz666 " perhaps you can elaborate your view to the other 3,000 + subscribers to my channel !

  • the don'ts!

"My desk was always a mess but it was a kind of mess that I could understand ... it's good enough ... "

    it was funny.

the worst is that there are people like that, how come? what a insensitive and insensible answer ...

Great Steve, this movie is the most watched from yours ... but the last one about phrasal verbs is almost the same,

its views is increasing so FAST

  • thanks for the comment and rating!

  • Hi! Your Portal is very helpful and the lessons are interesting! Thanks for adivces!

  • Hey Gisaguitar! The way that you come across to potential employers is entirely up to you.

Can you give me some examples from your life experience to back up your claim?

  • bah perfectionism is not a flaw! I think my grandfather said that in his job interview. i'd rather come up with another thing

  • thanks for the comment sunshinealley! It's great to know you have relatives living so close!!!

    Have a great day!

    Steve

  • very well explained videos. keep up the good work! by the way, I have relatives in Vernon, B.C. :) great country! greetings from germany

  • Hi hgnis76,

Please check Peppy 1. There are some good explanations there!

    Have a good day!

    Steve

  • other thing my girlfriend has a car if someone asks me if my girlfriend has car. how his question's format will be.

and how i will answer ''yes she has'' or ''yes she does have''

    thanks

  • Hi Steve thanks a lot for your efforts. It is really helping me learn english. I would like ask you some question.

As we say. He has two brother. or She has a nice Car. What would be the negatives and introgatives of aboves

    negatives

    He/she doesn't has a nice car or

    He/she doesn't have a nice car or

    He/she hasn't a nice car

    introgatives

does He/she has a nice car? or

does He/she have a nice car

  • For sure this is the question that everybody loves to hate!!!!!!!!! For sure, if you are eager, then it could be taken both ways. Good one!

So you could say that you are very eager to get things done! The expression for that is 'eager beaver'

    Best Regards,

    Steve

  • "tell me about your weakness"...gosh i dislike that question so much. usually people say, well i am a bit impatient. that impatience can be looked at as a strength, as in getting the job done in time incl. working over time if needed, etc.

i do not use the impatience b/c HR people hear that day in day out. i have not found another "good" weakness yet :) got any ideas?

  • oh, I was forgetting.. Thank you for the answer :)

  • Oh, have you heard the expression 'to have a crush on someone' ? she used that one in the wrong example

  • well, no... it is very difficult to me to understand her when she tells the wrong answers... Maybe it's because she uses words that I don't know...

Maybe I've just to improve ^^

  • hi my friend my nam is abdallah i dont know english very well .i want to learn english, can you help me?

  • I understand every word you say, but I don't understand when the woman says the wrong answer.. Also, I understand her when she tells the right answer.. I can't realize why...

  • You are very welcome

    zhjzh!

    Steve

  • That's great!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Hi Roger!

It's really nice to hear from you. Thanks for all of your suggestions! Culture is great when we can share it around the globe!

Good luck with your plans and keep in touch!

Please say hello to your friends and family in Brazil!

    Steve

  • Hi Steve! How lucky I am! Your lessons are great and for sure I'll learn a lot! Specially because you're from Canada! If you allow me to request you something, you could talk about Canada in your videos, something like cultural aspects, sports, educational system, etc. I'd be more than happy to learn english and about Canada at the same time.

    From Brazil, thanks a lot!

PS.:I was planning to immigrate to Canada some years ago..but things have changed for me and I decided to postpone this plan.

  • Hi Suprakash08,

    Thanks for the comment!

Say hello to all of my friends in Germany!

    Have a great day!

    Steve

  • I liked your videos

  • Hey Mgrisol! You are welcome! The way that you come across to potential employers is entirely up to you. However, we want you to always try to find ways to put yourself in a position of advantage. Focus on the positive! BTW be careful of false cognates:

    "ingenuous " should be naïve

  • Hi Steve. I just checked it up in my dictionary and I found out that "ingenuous" is a synonym for "naïve".

"Ingenious" would be the Cognate, right?

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

    Tks.

    Greetings from Brazil.

  • Ingenuos could be used as a synonym in academic English. However, it is not as common as naïve and given how close it is to 'ingenuo' in Portuguese.........please be careful.

    Here's a question for you.......

Would you say that guy 'precipitated' or 'acted rashly'?

Say hello to all my friends in Brazil!

    Steve

  • Hey Steve,

As we say down here back in Brazil: "you are the guy" lol.

    tks 4 ur quick reply.

Answering to ur question, if I answered rashly I'd certainly say 'precipitaded'.

    hugs.

  • I loved your answer! You win the prize for giving such a good answer!!!!!

    Warmest wishes!

    Steve

  • Thanks for the video, I like it. I disagree on the weakness argument. To admit on being a workaholic sounds like: "Youll be lucky if you hire me. Because, I have high productivity and no personal life" No interviewers are ingenuous to take it on this way. I have saw too much but I never found a boss complaining that someone works too much and needs to rest. Nobody but us use to worry about our own work life balance. I would tell honestly about some weakness of me and how I'm working on it.

  • Hello! Hello! Hello! Pineapple!

You are so welcome! Give my regards to all of my good friends in Mexico!!!!!!

    Steve

  • hello... i just want to say thank you very much... really i´m gonna be thankful and all my life
