Hey awesome playing and great sounding rig! Do you think the marshall has a nice clean and can you have it pretty loud before it starts breaking up? Im thinking of using my pedalboard in front of it and getting my distortion from it. I play everything from heavy rock to jazz and I think this maybe the amp for me.
I really love that tone you get near the end with the neck pickup. I've been listening to some demos of the boutique makers of this amp and people claim that they sound better but I find they're always somewhat piercing and and shrill sounding.
don't know if i asked u- can u get some serious not muddy crunch, rich harmonics, sustain and dynamic flexibility with OCD and this amp? let's say i'm going for an '80s distortion in the style of EVH, richie sambora and gary moore!
Niiiice sound, is it possible to go pritty heavy with that amp if I use an overdrive/distortion pedal with it? :) And you can't change the channel with a footswich, right? :D
Soundwise you can achieve a lot of "heavier" tones with this amp depending on the pedal you use in front of it, but if you want to go real heavy you should rather buy something else.
would it be at all possible to record another demo but have the amp cranked alittle to have some nice overdrive then step on the OCD to add higher gain rock type, neck pickup pleaseee lol, thats EXACTLY what i'd wanna do if i do go for the JTM45, i would really appreciate it
Hey Art, I could do that if I remember to take the camera with me. This friday I will play my Strat at the rehearsal. I'll crank the JTM and put the OCD on top.
I have a JTM45 reissue. I find single coils are too mid-rangy a flat thru this amp. A Les Paul Jr. with the soap bar pickup sound the best thru it. Or a hum bucker type guitar like a PRS.
It's funny how nowadays you have modern amps with tons of channels, yet this proves that you can have a non-master volume amp, an overdrive pedal, use your volume knob and achieve the same, but with some much more subtility ...
Step on the wah & presto!!, out comes Voodoo Chile.... ;-)
The stock strat pups are a bit too knarly for me, but that's a fine sounding amp for sure.
Did you change anything for the very last bit of the video? It sounds a little different from earlier.... Maybe you had the wah on with a bit of top cut??? Sounds nice.
Great tone and playing. Love it.

is this on the neck pickup?
karlharleman 2 months ago
@karlharleman
It's on the middel pu. From 2:34 on it's on the bridge pu. Then in the end it's middle or neck, I don't remember.
YoungBlueProductions 2 months ago
That is true, maybe using a Attenuator good be a option. Hard to get that tone at a lower volume without sacrificing quality. Or at least I do.
Platano0587 4 months ago
30w is a bit much for apartment playing. Maybe if you get one with a master volume mod.
Platano0587 4 months ago
@Platano0587
Actually, a master volume mod is the death of a JTM45 :-(

Only thing missing is a Marshall 4/12 25 watt greenback .. But still good ,

@erikviking
Plenty of clean headroom, works perfect with a pedalboard in front of it.

Hey! Thanks for the demo - very helpfull.
When will this amp start to break up compared to let's say a 1987x plexi?
Thanks!
And by the way .. Is this the reissue?
guitarmikkel 1 year ago
is this the stage level of the amp? volume on 4?
tomiclav 1 year ago
@tomiclav
Depends on the stage, but yeah for most of the clubs 4 is pretty sufficient. The JTM45 is pretty loud.

@YoungBlueProductions tnx for the answer! rock on!

Is this head still loud enough to play live with even though it's only 30W?
bfv102290 2 years ago
This amp is darn loud! You can easily play live with it. In fact most of the hosts tell you to turn down the volume.
