  • They have names?!

  • He never knew her name but remained in his heart! So touching!

  • One of the most beautiful endings in cinema history. It is very touching, although it makes me think: "Turn around and come back to her, you idiot!"

  • She should have cried a little, then he have changed his mind

  • @Brumbazzen I love ''bad'' ending makes something new from the pink life in cinema nowa days

  • FFS, they just fucked on a kitchen floor. They didn´t even know each other!

  • Superbe scène pour un film magnifique ainsi que la musique bravo James Horner

  • So beautiful... I hope they saw eachother again, on the other side.

  • In the book the girl dies. But in the movie it was necessary a litle kind of "happy end" to her.

  • He should have jumped off his horse and had sex with her right then and there - that would have made a great ending scene!

  • Sad indeed...

  • Very sad : ' (

  • it breaks my heart

  • This film is oh so beautiful, it makes me want to believe in God.

  • @HustlerPumpkin you're right

  • I just saw this movie again after twenty years. I have been in love with this girl since the first time I saw her. Lovely

  • @jumpinjakeflash1 indeed

  • Great movie. Even though you want him to stay with the Rose, it actually makes for a more dramatic ending, not the b.s. you see in Hollywood today.

  • @amprado128 yes, and a more realistic one as well. They have nothing to share, or what they had, they shared. It is a beautiful, tragic story.

  • And yet, now that I'm an old, old man... I must confess that of all the faces that appear to me out of the past... the one I see most clearly is that of the girl... of whom I have never ceased to dream... these many long years. She was the only earthly love of my life... yet I never knew nor ever learned... her name.
  • @CAFreeling I won't read the book.

  • what's the song called?

  • Wow, such a cheesy ending... why the fuck is she standing there??!! She's just waiting for him??! Oh wait, right... script convenience.

  • @twooffour of course its script!, but wait 30 years and you'll get it....

  • @EagleMoorehouses

I'll get in 30 years why, in this movie, the girl waits for Slater even though she's no idea he's going that way? Yea... sure,

  • Wonderful movie, but they have perfect teeth and they look too good .

  • what an ending

  • I'm not knowing any mercy in my business, but this scene is touching my heart every time I'm seeing it...

  • He didnt even know her name

  • They had sex and he thinked of her at anytime, but they never knew how their voice was because they never said a word to each other!

  • Even with a mostly synth only score James Horner pulls it of brilliantly!

  • I have just read this fantastic book today 18.08.2010- I have had it home all this time and have never had time to read it and now I'm just amuzed terryfied feeling brilliant but in the same time wanting to cry and ...all these feelings that I can't excplain..

  • Maybe its just me, but I liked the fact that he left her. I didnt feel like he loved her at all, she was so dirty and acted like an animal :S

  • @khadija19 hey I just read the book I found it fantastic have you seen the movie - I haven't but I think it must be brilliant just like the book

  • @ilirjannah Yes I ve seen the movie, its awesome. You must watch it :)

  • This end touches my heart every time I watch it. :')

  • i cant help myself in tears..........

  • So beautyful :-)

  • WildTh1ngs, you're true criminal!!!!...Why cutting it just before the tremendous and chilling Horner's theme repeat during the credits?!..This bundle (that scene PLUS the following credits...to the last note!) is one of the most astoundishing and poignant piece of 7th Art ever, really!..

  • i'm crying!!!

  • if you saw this whole flick you know the lovely Valentina Vargas had a smoking hot body as well. their love scene was combustible.

  • thats terrible lol never new the name of the girl he screwd lol

  • The music is beautiful. One of my favourite James Horner's works.

  • This is a epic movie, with anthological final scene, that can emotionally touch every human being.

  • No one had such good teeth back then.

  • @lipsbach well sean connery was born in that century and he was already old. Now he still conserves most of his teeth.

  • @lipsbach

It's the film... is not real life.

  • @lipsbach Keep watching discovery !!!!!!!

  • @lipsbach The only reason his teeth look that good is because he just came out the coal-gate.

  • @lipsbach ..and how did you know that? :)

  • i liked her in 'hellraiser: bloodline'

  • when i saw that film so many years ago i was pretty sure that this must be the most beautiful woman in the world! well, now i know: there are others as well ;) (but anyway: she is an everlasting beauty!)

  • At least kiss her or something- just one more touch to say goodbye. Hell, you confessed upon your deathbed she haunted your dreams for all your life, what the hell is wrong with those people back then?!?!

  • Fra Dolcino Da Novara e' con noi...........

  • Valentina vargas is chilean...

  • Everytime I watch this scene I cry... It's very painful when you are saying goodbye to someone you love.

  • @88Anit It was no true love but passion. This innocent teenager never felt it before so that's how he can be confused and think that it is love and cry like this, then . Is it not possible to feel love without any word between them. I don't like how women were only sin objects in the Midle Ages. And every intelligent women were burned because they were "witches". It is natural to prefer a monastic and venture life.

  • @rizukiss who are we to say if it was love or passion? can we be so sure of their difference here? in the context of the movie, adso experienced something that he would never experience again and did feel a connection to the girl. if it was purely carnal he may have not tried so hard to save her. love of another human being perhaps and also love for a woman.

  • @88Anit

And in addition to that, he had no fucking reason... just his religious dogma...

  • @twooffour Whats your dogma ???????...

  • @EagleMoorehouses

Dogma is a fallacy. I try not to have ANY dogma. What kind of a stupid question is that?

  • @88Anit

Whatch this scene and hear the narration in italian...totally different music! Listen, is not important to know Italian. You'll love even more.

  • @Olizimm I watched it and I agree with you. It's meraviglioso in Italian...! Very melodic language. Thanks for the suggestion : )

  • @88Anit It's just so sad, these people are lost now in history. He would never hear from her again and just had her as a memory of the past. Truly heartbreaking

  • This is not at all how the book ended

  • How did it end according to the book?

  • Bernardo Gui takes her on the road with him, so we don't know fro sure. But the implication is that she will be immolated somewhere along the way.

  • The book ending is different. But I don't will tell you the end. Read the book.

  • the girl die

  • @nuandii i have read it and it's much much better,isn't it??
