I had a CMPro Mustang and my spinner exploded also. CMPRO SPINNERS ARE UTTER SHITE. DON'T USE THEM FFS! And the spar webbing ran length wise with the spar, so after the heavy landing following the spinner explosion, the U/C split the spars and webbing apart the full length of the wings! Bin job the whole lot.
you know you where going to crashland hard why didnt you belly land you could have saved youre reatracts if they where still up and the prop was gone any way
i have the same plane. i just drilled all the way through the back spinner plate and got longer screws to go all the way to the back. i have had no problems with mine. i have a metal spinner too just in case.
Well the one I was looking at was sold before I got back to the shop and they reckon its hard to get them. You guys are obviously Aussies so where did you pick yours up from ??
I saw some nice spinners special made for sale in the US, haven't seen anything like that for sale in Australia though.
Thats a shame mate, a nice plane ruined. I almost bought this plane last week and checked the forums for problems. I do that now with every new model that i buy.
RC universe is a good one. Anyway, apparently this has happened to others as well and is downright dangerous. Imagine it coming apart when tuning the motor.
The plane got good reviews but the guys were changing out to metal spinners.
CMP should be aware of this and get serious about fixing the problem.
yeah the spinner is crap its more like a hand grenade i found 14 bits and there is about 30% missing .when they replaced the model i didnt a spinner with it they took it out of the box thats cool with me
The exact same thing happened to my cmpro warhawk 1.80. The plastic spinners that come with the kit are crap. I replaced it with a full metal one. It adds a bit of weight but makes the motor run more smoothly :-) Luckily, It was still on the ground so not much damage was done. Bits of spinner were found 30m+ in every direction!
hua! after work so long on assamble that beatiful model, not mention what you paid for it, and all ruined by a cheap spinner, toobad. you should claim to whoever you bought it from..!
Ive had the end of a spinner come off before and the prop was not damaged, maybe the prop was what failed it broke at the nut and washer.I'm not trying to argue i just don't see the spinner just exploding. I feel for you I've been looking at getting that arf but am werry about anything made in china,a lot of there other kits look like junk
dnamlsiem, I have two of the CMPro planes the Magpie 50 and the Katana 140. The Magpie 50 is very weak in the body along the entire center section over the wing. It folded on a rough landing. I bought another one because it flies so great and I will beef up this weak area. So far the Katana 140 has been fine after about 30 flights. Only problem with the Katana I had was the plastic coating on the aluminum wing tube was too thick to fit into the wing halves or into the body. Quality is good
Hitler got your ass..

it is a nice flying plane but it just needs a good spinner and the landing gear moved forward for better taxing but other wise its a gooden
