hey men. sould i buy blackberry torch 9800, or HTC Inspire???? and also i have one question, what type of GPS does blackberry torch 9800 have?? it is satellite, or GSM Gps?
Honestly Blackberry is so much better cause for i[hpne yu need to jail break to get themes and blackberry you dont you may ask why i say cause Blackberry`S BETTER !!
@NHLcrazy95 Thats what I was wondering, but look at it like this: Blackberries are like ready built houses with every thing you need in them, you can accessorize your house with new apps from blackberry app world. But the iPhone is like an empty house that you have to decorate and design the way you want it, so you can put apps and games and all that. I'm gonna get a torch, because even the simplest things you can't ALWAYS find them on the iPhone, you need to download them, bb has it all ready.
@pplimfilipino get the youtube application and it should help some more and if that doesnt work then use wifi it runs your youtube faster that way and doesnt use your mega bytes
going strait to the shops first thing this morning and i will get this phone WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
@AphelionXII That facebook thing happens on older phones too. All he needed to do was let the page fully load & go back to it later, & the user name would have been there. Browsers just aren't the best here, sorry RIM.
@AphelionXII yes there is a different mode there is the full qwerty, i have no idea why he didnt show that one and yaa the facebook thing has been fixed and if not u just have to wait for the whole page to reload.
Do you think that the Blackberry Storm 2 is better than the Torch in anyways(performance, browser, etc?).I'm planning to buy one but i'm still confused.
Though the touch scroll is a bit choppy, but it really has much better calendar and summary view than iphone. my wife has an iphone and i have an ipod, it is so difficult to set it up as a productivity tool, but BB is born to do that. Now i am going to get BB with OS6, but have to choose between 9800 and 9780.
@vickymhamer torch all the way... you really miss the keyboard if you dont have it... htc wildfire is slow and becomes a pain to use (from experience)
i think it looks very useful. i have always been a nokia man but as the times are changing and their smartphones are rubbish. I like how Blackberry's actually do what they are meant to do with no fuss which you cant say for even Apple. If you want to get good pictures buy a camera. I want a phone for all things communication and this looks like a good one!
I presently use a 9700 and it works just fine for my needs. However, after watching this review I get the impression that RIM is trying to compete with iPhone and Android, with disappointing results. I'd rather buy an iPhone 4, Evo 4G or Captivate than the 9800, and I can buy Evos and Captivates for far less than what 9800's are going for on eBay.
this phone is *almost* there, but if you're not swayed by a physical keyboard, just go iPhone. I'm disappointed that the music player is still archaic and has no homescreen status updates like Android or iOS, and the video camera is obviously shite.
You seem to know a lot about phones, what do you suggest for me to buy? I need a smartphone that has a good camera and a lot of apps. (Of course not too expensive)
i would like to ask how can i make sure that im using wifi to browse the website? n also, can the device keylock whenever i slide in the keyboard? Thx.
excellent report...Thanks. I will invest in this device because of your report...hopefully by the time I pick one up they would have sorted most of the bugs exposed here sorted.
More Pros than cons thus far...but for the record I will have my original Bold sitting close..just in case. :-D
excellent report...Thanks. I will invest in this device because of your report...hopefully by the time I pick one up they would have sorted most of the bugs exposed.
More Pros than cons thus far...but for the record I will have my original Bold sitting close..just in case. :-D
Firmware updates should help work out the initial bugs on this device. This is just the first generation. Faster processors, high res larger screens will be coming in the future
Pretty impressive for a BB. Im with sprint and have an 8530(gonna get 9650) and also have an HTC Hero. I love the touchscreen on Hero but I really like the blandish, subtle UI on BB (and keyboard) so I go back and forth and use the device that fits my mood. I really like this one. Just not gonna jump to Att yet though.
i really want to like this phone, but i feel that RIM really needs to step their game up if they want to maintain their dominance in the smartphone market. To me, this phone needs a better browser, faster processor, HD recording and better camera, higher resolution and larger screen, improved OS and app store, and better memory capabilities( I mean u can only store apps on the measly 512 mb flash memory? Ugh) This phone is good but not enough to slow down Android and Apple. Cmon RIM!
@internetmemesftw meh, id rather have this as a phone, and have an ipod touch as a media, music, camera, app device... the iphone and alot of the android devices are mainly for apps and have a shit phone
@seanc2462 thanks :). anyways, i did end up getting this phone, mainly because im tired of apple's horible product cycles. i have to say its not bad! i mean the resolution is ntb considering the screen size. apps are a problem if u want alot of them tho, but it does business apps well imo. i havent had any major lag issues with the processor, and the browser is much better than older bb. that being said i still hope they implement some of the changes mentioned, but it is a good business device.
@internetmemesftw but you gotta think about it this is the first bb phone to have os6 and when you think about the people who gets blackberries dont abuse the use of the phone like its browser and dont mind the not lightning fast browser but it is fast enough for what it is needed for. plus blackberry is used for email messaging and social networking and buisness apple and android suck in that category such as email and messaging both phone lack that blackberry takes over int hat part
Gee, I didn't like it before it came out and as expected due in part to Micheal's good review, I hate it even more. What an absolute FLOP!!! I'm soooo glad I ditched RIM 5 months ago. My BB friends ask me when am I coming back and I always reply with, "..for what?? For this??" This is a prime example of a HUGE handset manufacturer resting on its laurels of 2007 and being absolutely lazy. Tinker with the browser and fiddle with the OS and everything else is rehashed and recycled.
Like the G1 when it was first released on T-Mobile, we will have to wait for some software updates and a faster processor. It looks like an excellent phone--it's just not quite ready yet.
@TheGervon Laggy, as in it has a slow processor, ie it lags. If you have ever used an iphone 4 or even iphone 3gs you will realize that it does not 'lag'. The OS is smooth. I love blackberry, and only use them.. but, i'm finding that the cell is simply underpowered. Also, the screen in noticeably less clear than other blackberries and half as clear as any other current touch screen. If it wasn't for great e-mail and bbm i'd be gone.
RIM needed to bring a powerhouse to the market, and they came out with the torch. OS 6 has promise, but it needs a more powerful device with a larger screen/resolution.
@mobileburn lol well wat would be ur real phone window mobile based android based palm based or just a feature phone ??? or lol im so gona rofl if u say symbian based
