  • Riding bikes on sidewalk is illegal. It`s call a sidewalk for a reason. Sidewalk are meant for walking. If you want to ride a bike, take it to the road.Bicycle are subject to the same laws as cars in most cities. How many times have you walk down a sidewalk and a cyclist comes rolling down the sidewalk and expect you to give him the right of ways?? Know the laws in you area cyclist.

  • When the cyclist made the decision to grab the car, he started the chain that led to his death. Sorry, but that's the first and most important fact in this incident. Everything else happened as a result of that. You people that are painting him as an innocent victim are full of shit. The guy was drunk and belligerent by all witness accounts, and, yes, he grabbed a moving car for no other reason than to cause a confrontation with the driver. Anger issues and alcohol killed this poor man.

  • he was out of control, confirmed to be attacking other drivers.and his luck ran out.

    End of story period.

  • Trust me.. I live in Toronto and work at Bay and Adelaide. I see these assholes all the time and yes they are fucked up and high and drunk. The couriers are total traffic assholes, worse than cabbies and the fact that they're all drug abusing twits makes it worse. I mean, who the fuck drinks and rides a bike in traffic and expects to live. The worst thing is, is that is that cock Bryant was in fact just defending himself against this methhead, he ended up killing his ass and ruining his life

  • A perpetually pissed off and bitter bicyclist pedaling around town instigating confrontations with people in expensive cars (jelous much?) gets bumped off. This is almost as good as when they made a pancake out of Rachel Corrie.

  • @MoeGreensRightEye jelous=jealous.

BTW, does anyone know where this Darcy fellow is buried? I'd like to go piss on his grave.

  • either way it was a bitch move-i would have jumped out and knuckled up, then drove away lol-then everybody lives......

  • Darcy died they way he lived, like a drunk pitbull.

  • tremooloo, you are 100% right...

  • i completely agree with tremooloo. the most recent reports show that the cyclist was just crazy and psychotic and latched on to the side of the car and was grabbing the steering wheel with no apparent reason whatsoever. if that was happening to me, and my wife was in the car with me and as her husband it would be my duty to protect her, i would by all means try and get this guy off my car. its unfortunate it had to go down with his death, but its instinct to get away

  • @abelign1991 Wrong. For a guy who was trying to protect his 'wife', who happened to be blonde at the time, Bryant sure did drive in a dangerous and aggressive manner, down the wrong side of the street at high speeds! In no way did Sheppard have the steering wheel, otherwise Bryant could not control the vehicle from hitting the trees or mailboxes he was steering Sheppard into.

If you were run down by a car that then decided to flee the scene, I'm sure you'd be crazy and psychotic too.

  • @phillydisco u are us uniformed as most of the others on this site! If u read the court documents and listened to the EYE witnesses u would know the psycho went at bryant for no reason he didnt just pull in front of him second byants car stalled and while trying to keep an eye on the insane person in front of him forgot to shift to neutral befor restarting his car witch is why (in the barley viewable video) he ran into sheppard!

  • Fucking shit quality video.

How the hell are we supposed to judge fairly with that kind of quality?

  • One thing is for sure, if it was an any of us driving we would be in a dark jail cell.

  • Looks like the little blur cut off the big blur, then the big blur hits the little blur. After that it's all a blur.

As far as the car damage goes. It's obviously NOT the result of side swpiing an object...that would leave streak marks along the side, not dents. Dents would be the result of a direct impact.

As for driving on the wrong side of the street the editor missed the construction signs indicating the 'proper' side was blocked.

keep your tinfoil hats on kids!

  • why didn't douche bag bryant just say sorry like any other sane individual instead of trying to take off? i truly hope that asshole gets what he deserves.

  • I'm certainly glad they got this case right. There are alot of arrogant and obnoxious cyclists in the city that are just looking for trouble. Well, He got it...

Cyclists need to obey the rules as they apply to them...unfortunately most don't. Hopefully this fool's mistake will begin a change of attitude for Toronto cyclists.

  • @TSM8088 Wrong. Killing someone because they hurt your feelings for jumping ahead of you is not considered rational, or even legal, human behavior. If that was the case, then people have a right to stab someone who cuts in front of them at the checkout counter at the store.

  • manslaughter

  • @dirty30jr In Bryant's case, mans laughter, because he got away with it.

  • thank u tremooloo the idiot was wasted and attacked Bryant first he drove his car into him after sheppard tried to block him in then attack him... Bryant may have panicked but that drunk idiot deserves everything he got! If u look at the actual court evidence he has 9 other incidents just like this it was bound to happen sooner or later! just cause it was a former AG doesnt mean anything! what is pathetic is the cyclist community would even try and stick up for this nut jjob

  • @gBoake Here's a news flash, you cannot use your vehicle to move obstacles out of the way. It's a car, not a bulldozer. If Sheppard was lying in the middle of the road in protest, Bryant would not be allowed to drive over him.

There was only one lane in operation that night. The curb lane was closed off. Darcy had no bike lane, so if he moved into a spot in front of Bryant, he was not breaking any laws. But Bryant using his vehicle as a battering ram definitely broke laws.

  • Let me tell you something. If I'm in the car with my wife, and some violent meth head, who's in the middle of a booze fueled psychotic episode tries to attack us, and then latches onto my car, and won't let go...that my friend is a clear cut case of him, or me, and you best believe it ain't gonna be me!

  • @tremooloo Is that after you knocked him down with his car like Bryant did? Yeah, you better be scared.

Bryant didn't know Sheppard was 'drunk', Sheppard didn't know Bryant was the former AG. But Bryant was in a two ton vehicle that knocked down a cyclist, then he dragged and smashed a pedestrian (that's what Darcy was when he got off his bike), and ran over him with his car. The only person who was ever in physical harm was Sheppard.

  • @phillydisco Boo fucking hoo, I only wish I had of been there with a straw to feast on Sheppard's sweet, sweet brain nectar! Mmm cerebrally!

  • @tremooloo still spamming the board with this astroturf?

It is clear to me Bryant made the initial attack.

  • @honestedits Astrowhat? Is it beyond your grasp that more than one person can see Sheppard for the scumbag he was?

  • @tremooloo The proof is in the pudding; Bryant is a loose canon and made the attack.

  • @tremooloo My thoughts exactly, and I'm an active cyclist too.

  • @tremooloo IM WITH U THERE ,IT HAPPENED TO ME!...I RAN HIM OVER.

  • @tremooloo ACTUALLY he was my friend. Only TOOLS believe everything they hear on the news.

  • Don't drink and bike and attack people in cars, mmmkay?

  • @wilburtrex: Looks like the car driver mowed the cyclist down and took off. Your comment is nonsense.

  • If there are such things as souls, I really hope that Bryant's soul rots in hell.

That is if he has one.

Sad thing is, with the freak firm 'Navigator' and Bryant's inside knowledge of the upper echelons of government, he'll probably walk with a $50 fine.

  • RIP Darcy Allan Sheppard

  • What a douchebag.

  • I drive a diesel truck, and I look out for bikes. I like to ride bikes in my spare time, and used to commute. I hope this killer car driver gets convicted and disgraced. Even if it was an accident, a real Canadian would have helped the fallen cyclist, not killed him with the car and run away!

  • @stopglobalswarming You're a good person. It's extremely appreciated.

  • Comment removed

  • The guy is guilty, If he gets off, which I believe he will, I'm sure on a technicality. But Karma's a bitch and will bite him well and truly in the arse. His spin doctors sound so stupid when they post comments in favour of Bryant. They make me hate Bryant even more. You might want to rethink strategies.

  • bastard...the look of guilt in his eyes is undeniable...and what was his blood alcohol level? murderer....pathetic politician, a tiny useless man surrounded by pr people trying to give him credibility where he has none...this is the same michael bryant who banned pit bulls in ontario even though he was unable to pick out exactly what a pit bull was when contronted...moron...if there is a god or the ancient native sense of justice, he will spend his life behind bars and think about his deeds

  • Phillydisco, no need to attack me. I'm not a liar, but thanks for showing your maturity in this discussion.

  • Part of this forum is to collect all the facts possible. You'll have to describe more about this cellphone witness.

How did you hear about this?

Where was this said to occur?

  • Where did you hear about the cell phone? I mentioned my sources when I said there was a blonde passenger in the car with Bryant, and his wife is a dark haired brunette.

You have to just look at the video Amy, and then think about at what point could Michael Bryant have used a cellphone?

  • This is all the video publicly available. Many stories are not shown by the video because they were embellishments, part of Bryant's PR efforts.

If you have documentation, please post it The alleged wheel grabbing and hitting fits into the timeline while Sheppard is being dragged down the street "at 90 km per hour" - eyewitness - after the second clip, and before the third clip begins.

Mr. Bryant appears unscathed at his morning after press conference, so I doubt he was punched to any degree

  • Another fake story, there wasn't any cellphone tossing going on. Darcy was a couple of metres ahead of the car, so he couldn't have reached at Bryant then. When he was knocked on the ground, Bryant was already backing up and speeding around the collision scene, making a tight turn. How would he have steered the wheel and used the cellphone at the same time? Not possible at all. Amy is either making this up or someone gave her the wrong info.

  • I just re-read your post, i missed the part about throwing a cell phone away... I haven't heard that one yet.. Can you tell anymore about how you heard that?

  • You want to know why? Because those never happened. And the so-called witnesses who called those in could have easily been shills for the PR firm that Bryant hired. Navigator's goal is to change the course of public opinion in their clients favor. They will use any means necessary to dirty the oppositions image.

So, you should be taking the fact that the video doesn't show those things as further proof that Darcy was the victim of a callous hit and run driver that turned into an act of murder

  • OK,

First, this is exactly the kind of comment that as moderator I might just delete. That is a power I have wielded only when essential.

Second, it and similar post is a driveby from an immediately erased user account. Another reason I might chose to delete it.

Thirdly I use it as an example of what to avoid in these forums. I do not wish to censor, tho I will edit honestly ;)

  • Bicycles are meant to be ridden on the street. At least where I'm from it is illegal to ride on the sidewalk. We aren't looking for thrills, we're trying to commute.

  • well it's not illegal to ride on the sidewalk here in houston. it's just plain dangerous to ride in the street here. i have nothing against riding your bike to work. but when you are a competitive cyclist getting in the way of the houston traffic it is not smart and does not make the traffic any better. people get hit all the time. it's just those competitive guys that get me. they need to find a real rural area to ride where there is no traffic.

  • There aren't trails down town Toronto. And as a pedestrian,I don't like cyclists riding on the sidewalk. The other day, one guy blew right past me while I was standing at a red. I had my hands full with food. I heard another cyclist yell 'assh****' at that cyclist. If there was a car coming, he would have been killed. There are bad cyclists and bad drivers, but it's cars that cause more injuries and deaths. Getting cyclists a safe way to ride, off sidewalks, is better for everyone.

  • well sorry pedestrian. you know instead of fighting, we should ban together and take these cyclists off the streets for good. start with the small fry and eventually we'll take down the fat cats. maybe they should put wings on bikes so they could fly over us. it's much safer for cyclists to ride on the sidewalk with all the other pedestrians. that's how i feel. your not going to change my mind. i'm not going to change yours. so there is really no point to go back and forth.

  • To me, cyclists riding fast on sidewalks is irresponsible and inconsiderate, but for coasting slowly, I don't see a problem with it.

On the sidewalk, or on the street its all about moving safely with the traffic flows.

  • I agree that it has come to the point that cyclists need to ride on sidewalks because it's safer than being on the street. Except, there are the occasional ones who ride their bike at excessive speeds on sidewalks, and don't obey stop lights. If a cyclist is going to ride on a sidewalk, they need to go at a slower speed, not the same speed they would be going if they were on the street. I also don't like motorized wheelchairs or rollerbladers going at excessive speeds on sidewalks, by the way.

  • Who is the blonde mystery woman who left the scene before the police arrived and didn't want her picture taken? Didn't media reports say that Bryant was with his wife (who does not have blonde hair) at the time of the accident? The police should subpoena this blonde woman to testify. Also, why did the police not take a sample of Bryant's blood to test for alcohol/drugs?

  • There were no. of reports that Bryant was with a blonde passenger, who was let out at Park Hyatt and took off. They (or someone claiming to be them) contacted police at a later time. Right there, I would say, is obstruction of justice, because the person who was a witness or involved with the incident was allowed to get away. MB's wife has brown hair. It could just be Navigator telling the media his wife was in the car. There is a problem if police reports at the scene say MB was alone in car.

  • A passenger can be seen moving in their seat in the black and white footage... too bad its black and white footage. They seem to be wearing a very light coloured jacket.

  • Looks to me like Bryant pulled an aggressive move and killed man in the process. Very sad.

  • there was an article about u honestedits in the toronto star

  • Yes ;) first print media mention of this site to my knowledge!

  • I just read it. Congrats!

  • Awesome! I'll have to look for that.

  • I tried to post a link, but I don't think they're allowed.

If you guys go into google or yahoo and type 'thestar' and 'honestedits', you can call up the article. It's called 'Bryant and Courier A Class Issue' by Antonia Zerbisias.

  • Article is linked in a comment on my main page ;)

  • I agree that safety and old fashioned courtesy is paramount. And for those that think about this, it is one of the obvious lessons. As well, there is the clear demonstration of how cycling infrastructure can't just be a band-aid strap-on solution that motorists might find an inconvenience.

  • Quantify your objections with facts and observations, not made up BS, your posts read like PR.

The video itself is what came out of the security cameras, how can that be biased?

    - The opening scene on a T-shirt stating how many people perceive the facts of the incident. That's their bias, I'm mirroring that questions exists.

    - "Nearby, A funny place to park?" Is the only bias I can see.

    Eyewitness accounts match the vids.

You can make a personal attack, but you've got no facts at all.

  • That is exactly my point, you annotations look like spin to me.

I didn't say the "video was biased" I said your annotations were, right from the very first one (are you claiming they are not, but you don't have a point to make? right...).

The darn comments here are too short to actually list all the evidence I can see just in time index 0.06 to 0.08. This is obviously captured by video camera from a TV, it would be nice to get our hands on the actually footage.

  • jfbp, it's not bias, it's proof.

  • @MeaghanEdwards

The video is proof, for sure but the interpretation is significantly biased.

Regardless of how I feel about it (being a cyclist, i'm interested in safety for the most part) I wan't justice not a roasting.

  • Seemingly, Bryant cooked his own goose!

I'd try and make him look "good", but how exactly would I do that, given that he killed a man with his gas pedal?

I guess I could have ignored the footage in sequence as the media has... No wonder they didn't want to touch these details with a 10 ft pole. But that would make me complicit in the cover-up of a wrongful death..

  • I personally don't wan't you to make him look good, I don't want you to make Sheppard look good ether.

I believe that bias reporting (from folks like you and from the media) only hinders us all having a safer city to ride in *and* drive in.... that is the bases of my arguments with your annotations.

  • The annotation could be considered biased, but honestedits did offer the unannotated versions of the videos. HE also posted longer versions of the videos. If you don't like the way they look, or you think it's misleading, then take a trip down town and see the area for yourself. Or use Google maps. I've described in the Improved video where the two cameras are located. If you have a physics education, feel free to comment on the velocity, distance, force, etc...

  • That was a total run over.

  • A memorial fund for the children of Darcy Allan Sheppard has been arranged by The Toronto Bike Messenger Association ( TOBMA com ) via paypal at their website or at any TD Canada Trust Branch in the name of Darcy Allan Sheppard and/or the account number 06906676860

A fundraiser will be held Sat, Sept 26 2009 at Sneaky Dee's 431 College Street (College and Bathurst) Doors 9pm $10.00 or pay what you can

  • I don't think this video is as damning as the one where you enhanced those first two clips and strung them together, because the second clip, shot from behind, shows the car is moving fairly quickly and literally pushed Sheppard to the pavement. In this video, you only see the clip start from when the car is backing up. I will write more of what I think we're seeing in the two clips in that enhanced video's comments.

  • I agree, I did not have that footage when I cut this video. I got the "Improved Video" from another source. There is a hotlink in that clip to the more complete footage.

  • I'll check it out. The upper half of that second clip looks like it was blocked out rather than it was out of range of the camera. Do you know if it was 'censored'?

  • That is the frame of the video monitor playing back the footage. The cameraman works to keep the action centered in the shot. I was going to motion track it to make it steady, but a guy can only do so much.

  • The new video is very damning. Yesterday I had to continually stop and point out things to those I showed the video to. Today I showed the new video to others and they saw it and understood it immediately.

  • I've been showing other people too. It makes a huge difference, because the media has been brainwashing people to believe this was justifiable homicide (i.e. self defense). Well, you kill someone, whether it was justifiable, that means you should be charged with homicide. If the police feel Bryant was defending himself and his wife, then it means he should be charged with murder, not reckless driving. People are shocked when they see what happened, instead of the Sheppard attack ads in media

  • Blackwater Military contractor in Iraq = Navigator Pr firm in Toronto!

Coverup, deceit & murders go unpunished

  • Navigator Pr firm = Blackwater type firm

    COVERUP & DECEIT

  • I believe Michael Bryant is intoxicated with the Prescription drug called PAXIL, an anti-depressant known to make its users commit homicides. Bryant's behavior is corresponds to that of a murderous PAXIL user. He deserves life in jail with no parole possibilities.

  • Please refrain from duplicate posts, otherwise the quality of this debate will suffer.

  • I am now posting the correct link to twitter as "honestedits". I am not a tweet freak, so I am generally not available by twitter.

  • OMG. Nice job cleaning it up. I thought he was flipping Bryant the bird. He isn't. He is riding within the confines of the law and seems to be fully in control of his bike.

  • LOLLz!1 @bryant facts, K well I have amended the annotation to detail Bryant stopped somewhat nearby.

He is not linking correctly to the eyewitness narration, instead he is linking to the annotated version. A correct link is ( tinyurl com knsp9u ) PLS RETWEET

also, tweetgrid com lets you monitor multiple twitterstreams.

    Thx for the tip Grizz

  • You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby round round. We can learn a thing from Blackwater, I mean Navigator Ltd. "Stay on message". Bryant was the aggressor. Bryant was the instigator. Bryant set all the events in motion when he rammed Sheppard. Most importantly of all - the PR won't be in the court room and the first 30 seconds of tape will be damning.

  • That's "male cow faecal matter". You can see right in the video Sheppard smacking the car while passing outside the lane (contrary to traffic laws and not annotated unfortunately; bias?) then he pulls in front of the car and the two men clearly have some sort of exchange.

Looks to me as if Sheppard is the aggressor first, however Bryant is just as much of an aggressor moments later when he tries to force a passage past Sheppard (hitting the back tire).

  • 'Bryant is just as much of an aggressor moments later when he tries to force a passage past Sheppard (hitting the back tire)"

Force a passage PAST? Don't you mean through? There is a difference. A huge difference. Using a car to force a passage through is called ramming - not passing.

As IslamAnswersBack stated : that was a total run over.

That's why many believe Bryant is a murderer.

  • On twitter, Navigator is using the alias "bryantfacts" to discredit this video. HonestEdits, I suggest you post another version of this same video without the memorial ride introduction footage or music. They claim this video annotation is one-sided, I wonder why that is? Maybe because a fight between a car and cyclist IS one-sided. They need to keep quiet, keep out of the media, and show some respect for the deceased.

  • To clarify, Navigator Ltd. is the PR firm Bryant hired within hours of the altercation that lead to Darcy Sheppard's death.

  • One sided? It's surveillance video. I have sent the cleaned up link to some cyclist friends and they say Mr. Sheppard displayed skill and excellent roadmanship as he moved his fast moving bike into the lane of stationary traffic. They said Sheppard doesn't handle his bike like someone who is inebriated. They did ask about Bryant though and I said that there was no indication that Bryant was intoxicated as no tests were done.

  • Raw Footage, without commentary or audio is now posted. Good suggestion.

  • Michael Bryant is a "LOOSE CANON" and should be in jail with no parole rights based on the tapes we are seeing. Michael Bryant's acts are deliberate, vile & murderous. He should not be eligible to walk the streets until his trial has been dealt with. Parole at any set limit is not an issue for this MURDERING CRIMINAL.

  • 3199 views and counting.

Remember there are no bad dogs or bad cars only bad owners.

  • Goodnight all. My closing remark would be that at 2,183 views and counting it is clear that the truth is getting out there. Soon someone will pick it up and it will erupt.

Every cyclist in Toronto should simply hand out cards with this link on it to everyone they see. Turn this ripple into a freakin wave.

Peace and for god's sake please be courteous and safe to all.

  • The search term is "Toronto cyclist security camera"... I am grateful to do my part, thanks all of you for doing yours, that is a respectable # for 2 days =) =)

For sure let people know. This man is not above the law. The arrogance of some of those in power in Canada needs to be addressed. Accountability puts a chink in that teflon armour.

  • I do however agree with the comment "Bryant has made his career by attacking those on the margins of society (ie those who do not have the resources to fight back". Although he also had the one piece of legislation overturned in about three days. He knew the adoption law he proposed wouldn't stand up to a challenge but they passed it anyways. I think it was the fastest an Ontario law has ever been overturned by the courts. Short sweet and decisive. I hoping his criminal case is also.

  • I disagree. Twenty three seconds of video convinced two friends who previously said they would have done the same as Bryant had a drunk grabbed onto their car and attacked them that the precursor to Sheppard's grabbing onto the car in the first place was a willful, cowardly and deliberate attack on Sheppard by ramming a 3200 plus lb vehicle into him and his bike. When they realized what they were seeing their jaws dropped. Roll the higher quality tape in a court room and PR means squat. :)

  • I'm not so sure, I don't agree that he will walk away form this, The cat is out of the bag, just like with Dziekansky at YVR. You can't stop the signal!

I think that we are exercising a new citizenship by participating in things like this. And like all aspects of citizenship, we have to learn how to act well and participate in the hivemind so that on those junctures of real import we are prepared.

  • In fact I think it may do Bryant more harm. Imagine being a jury member and although you haven't seen this yt video you could not avoid hearing some stories about Sheppard being a drunk, attacking the car unprovoked and maybe even about the headlock but you are sure you can be impartial. Then the tape rolls. You not only realize that Bryant rammed Sheppard but you also suddenly realize some one has been manipulating the press - and you. Sequestered jury? No way they will be home by dinner.

  • As Ronald Reagan would say, "you can run but you can't hide"

  • For those who accuse Sheppard of being drunk, as if that was an excuse for him to get hit two to three times with a car, they should do a youtube search for the words 'drunk' and 'bike' and see all the footage. If Darcy was inebriated, he couldn't have ridden that well.

I have a feeling that what the media is doing is waiting for the toxicology reports before the autopsy results showing cause of death are released to prove Bryant defended self from drunk man, even though video shows he hit him.

  • "DUI" and "bike" also yield a lot of videos showing people how to ride. Heck just google it. It's next to impossible. The way Sheppard pulled around and in front of Bryant's car in that first video shows he was in full control of his faculties.

Also, if Darcy had been drunk, he would have been easy pickings for Bryant, who has years of experience as a boxer. If there was danger, he could have left off his passenger and dealt with it at the side of the road, instead of driving like Mad Max.

  • Michael Bryant was a big fan of Knight Rider television series with David Hasselhoff. Bryant was just 16 years old and he wished he had a talking Trans Am that would do amazing stunts. One thing though, Knight Rider never MURDERED an innocent person like Michael Bryant did.

  • ralph, you are starting to grow on me. /btw Knight rider isn't a person. Michael Knight always has his car Kit do his dirty work.

  • Bryant can have the best lawyer team ever & Navigator PR firm to do all the damage control to sway public opinion, but all this will be no match for his adversary: the hand of God.

God knows the truth and with all the expensive help Michael Bryant will hire to clear his name, God will expose Bryant for the liar he is. And if Bryant does not set the truth forward, God will expose and track him down like the animal he was against poor Mr Sheppard (a father of 3 young children).

  • boudrozoltar, i have no difficulty calling Michael Bryant a MURDERER. Bryant murdered a father of 3 children because he wanted to show what a "big man" & tough man he was.

  • fine, whatever, thanks for listening.

sorry honestedits, I was trying to keep things legitimate. I think it important in a discussion to hold on to some sense of posture.

as for the progression of this discussion, I suggest the irony of the fact that he is a formal attourny genral, and how his own work should work against him.

I'm done though. I can't deal with the nonsense here. Thanks for posting honestedits, I gained some insight from your videos and posts.

  • Your comments don't require an apology at all, and given the valid passions about this incident I am grateful for the restraint and constructive debate occurring here.

You raised many good points and I am grateful for your interest and contribution. I was making an attempt to exercise some authority in this thread, I apologize if that caused offense. I didn't want the debate to get stuck on one point.

    The irony is huge.

  • Bryant intentionally attacked the cyclist as per the video. That is first degree murder that they should charge him for as he clearly instigated and intended to do what he did.

How can media say that Sheppard was drunk? How can the media say he was an alcoholic and a drug addict? How can NAVIGATOR use the media to dirty Sheppard's name?

The video is CLEAR & MICHAEL BRYANT IS A MURDERER! GOD HAVE MERCY ON THE SOUL OF BRYANT THE MURDERER!

  • i am speechless. you aren't helping anything.

  • Not true. Spreading the truth is helping and he is doing so because it's the right thing to do not for monetary reasons unlike the committed people at Navigator who whore themselves out. No message is unacceptable once the price is agreed upon.

  • libral, I'll go over this one more time. you and ralph aren't qualified to label people as murders. Bryant might be guilty of murder, he might not, but until somebody who IS qualified makes that decision, the only thing you communicate when you call him a murderer is your own ignorance.

everybody in the world gets that except you and ralph. I understand that you are mad as hell, that is fine.

I am just watching out for you here.

  • I never called him a murderer did I? I said it looks as if he purposefully hit a man with his car. The comment I removed said the "M. Bryant is a murderer. Tasmania 1996" and that is the truth. A man - M. Bryant went on a shooting spree in 1996 in Tasmania. In 2009 a man M. Bryant ran down a cyclist and minutes later dragged him to his death. This video is awesome. It will likely bring Bryant down and no amount of PR can discount the images on the tape even if the victim was Hitler himself.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree; labelling him as a murderer is libel, asking that a charge of murder be brought against Bryant is not.

  • But "M. Bryant is a murderer. Tasmania 1996" isn't libel is it? It is fact. Still I removed it. To your point maybe other charges could be brought once the video is cleaned up and reviewed by the prosecution.

  • That's my point. I agree, the video evidence presented here points to a murder or manslaughter case to be brought against Bryant, but we have to respect that everyone in this country is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Navigator Ltd can try to manipulate public opinion as much as they want, but what goes on in court will be an entirely beyond their inflluence.

  • "we have to respect that everyone in this country is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law." -- I agree but it's not entirely an accurate statement. Michael Bryant was fond of 'reverse onus' provisions in his laws that pretty much implied 'guilty until proven innocent'. He used it on drug dealers, bikers, speeders and dog owners. I know all of them are scum not deserving of the right to presumed innocence and.....hang on a second I'm a freaking dog owner. That SOB.

  • re:reverse onus provisions.

hilarious. thanks for bringing this to my attention. I take back anything mean I said about you.

  • one would assume that in a conversation about Michael Bryant that "M.Bryant" is the same person. perhaps in a legal sense, you are right, but in my opinion, your word and opinions are meaningless.

you have the creditability of a child throwing a temper tantrum.

  • "perhaps in a legal sense, you are right" - now you get it.

"you have the creditability of a child throwing a temper tantrum" - and you have the credibility of the parent of a child that can do no wrong. Not your little Mickey.

I will lose no sleep over your opinion of me as you sir show no character or morals whatsoever. You probably work for Bryant.

  • Liberal, I don't know where you are coming from. I don't think I have stated any opinions myself other than saying that your word and opinions are meaningless. and I don't feel like a helecopter parent, and I don't work for Bryant.

and I haven't shown character or morals, true. I have only requested that you and others not get into a pissing match against a faceless villain. I have nothing to do with the villain, don't put me there because you need the opposition

    keep the gloves on champ

  • "Innocent until proven guilty"? What country are you living in? What do you call it when vehicles get crushed for "excessive speeding" BEFORE the case goes to trial? Or dogs being "banned" based on their breed? Both are examples of being assumed "guilty until proven innocent" as well as laws sponsored by Michael Bryant. Besides, calling him a murderer (whether first-degree or manslaughter is irrelevant) isn't libel. It's simply judgment by Michael Bryant's peers (a.k.a. the citizens of Ontario).

  • I agree with you 100% moshgcan on your very clear explanation:

"Besides, calling him a murderer (whether first-degree or manslaughter is irrelevant) isn't libel. It's simply judgment by Michael Bryant's peers (a.k.a. the citizens of Ontario). "

  • "you have the creditability of a child throwing a temper tantrum" - that's neither here nor there but if you want to talk about creditability the tape is way freakin credible. That's all that is going to count. Bryant and his hired thugs can attack the credibility of the victim and you can attack mine but unless he's got a time machine he can't attack the tape. Bar it from evidence? No way.

  • Thank you all for making those important points.

Now that they have been made, I'd like to encourage the discussion to progress.

  • Fair enough. Once again I would like to thank you for posting this video. I have sent the link to CP24 as I consider them the most unbiased news organization in Toronto. I am hoping that some media organization cleans this up enough that they could show it on TV. Mr. Sheppard may not have been someone I or many would have occasion to have in our homes but he was a human being. Now he is dead and a PR team is doing all it can to paint him as the aggressor. He needs a voice.

  • excellent libralrefugee. I support you 100% in giving Sheppard a voice. I'll be supportive in that.

the internet is a wonderful thing, look at how much gets out there, people get talking, we don't have to depend on the old media for information.

before they conclude that he attacked Bryant, I am going to have to see the evidence.

  • Thanks.

  • The source news footages will be better quality since mine came from internet sources that were already compressed. CBC/City and CTV. No one had them all, or in correct sequence. I could do some fancier enhancements with actual video footage.

The actual security camera source footage will be again, one step better than that. Earlier frames on both the colour footages would be revealing.

Thank you for forwarding it to print and tv media outlets, I would ask that others do the same.

  • Well you've done a heck of a job. If only we could hack that big screen by the Eaton Centre and play it all day long. Sorry I'm not from Toronto but I'm sure it has a name. Question, what is the name of the song and who sings it?

  • It is called Hit & Run from the album "Blind" by Dragonfly. It is available in youtube as an audioswap (free use) soundtrack, also online music purchase.

Full props to that band for this very real song.

  • Dragonfly was a Boston band and is now known as "The Singhs" They have a myspace.

  • I commend you on your optimism, but I'm afraid the media is hell bent on defending Bryant. Today, they even showed his memorial, but the last thing they did was have an interview with a neighbour who said he was drunk and falling over his bike and got angry with a homeless guy. I don't know how the neighbour knew the guy was homeless, I guess she asked him for ID. No security footage of the accident was shown, even though they all have access to them. The collisions on vid speak for themselves

  • If he was drunk, he wouldn't have been able to ride downtown. He certainly wouldn't have been able to pull that overtaking maneuver he does in the first video, without colliding with on-coming traffic. And it doesn't justify hit and run. The media is intentionally avoiding showing the footage and not getting the autopsy information, which is making the public believe Bryant was defending himself from an unruly person.

  • I haven't read through all of the other news media, I know that CTV owns CP24 and Globe & Mail, but the one media outlet that has offered a sympathetic view of Darcy is The Star. They even did a huge expose on Bryant's choice of PR people. Maybe they'd be interested in seeing the footage, although they are print-only. I don't know if they have the ability to link videos from youtube to their site. It's sad that Darcy's death won't change how motorists interact with cyclists and pedestrians.

  • The Star certainly does have the ability to post video on line. They have a link to a youtube video by Michael Ignatieff on their site right now. Contact them.

As for how cyclists, pedestrians and drivers all interact a little more courtesy on all sides wouldn't hurt. As you cyclists pull up next to a car with a rolled downed window tomorrow say 'Hi'. It can't hurt. At least I hope it wouldn't.

  • 8 secs Sheppard pulls in front of a stationary vehicle. 12 seconds there is no audio but Sheppard turns his head and looks behind him - word being exchanged? At 13 seconds Bryant lunges towards Sheppard and then brakes. At 17 seconds he RAMS him. At 19 seconds Bryant backs up,turns his wheels and tries to take off. Sheppard is just getting up as the car passes him at around 23 seconds. Sheppard didn't physically approach Bryant until after Bryant had assaulted him purposefully with a car.

  • Why wasn't Bryant given a breathalyzer test? Why has the city of Toronto already repainted the fire plug/hydrant that Sheppard was driven into?

  • Because a breathalyzer test wouldn't indicate what Bryant's major malfunction was. You would need a shrink for that.

  • That's a good point, but on the point of the fire plug, I think we can make the association of Mayor David Miller and ex-A-G Michael Bryant both as alumnus of Harvard. I generally have a lot of respect for Mayor Miller, but the city's only action so far, has cast doubt on his integrity.

  • what should he have done?

If it was your child who was killed, wouldn't you want the blood cleaned up?

  • Well, the biggest problem with the city is their poor communication about their actions. If they communicated that substantial photographic evidence had been taken, or that the fire plug would be removed as evidence and replaced, then I would have an easier time believing that there has been no foul play.

  • come on, do you have to be so Canadian? passive aggressive implication of foul play, you are a victim of a faceless higher power, writing letters of disapproval?

They are going to be well above boards on this one. besides, what evidence could a fire hydrant possibly contain?

  • Admittedly, I recognize that all the evidence around the fire hydrant has likely been collected, however, I find it indicative of a city that wishes to hide all its dirty linen.

  • Toronto is certainly a city that wishes to hide its dirty linen. and you are right that these questions have to be asked.

  • What would a motorists response be to being rear-ended? Why didn't Bryant stay at the scene after Sheppard fell off the car and was run over by the rear wheels of Bryant's car? Where did Bryant's wife disappear to after they fled to the hotel? Why wasn't Bryant's wife charged as an accomplice in a manslaughter charge? Where is the evidence that shows that Darcy threw his bike at the car? Was there enough time for the cyclist and motorist to have exchanged words?

  • When I listened to the radio the next morning, they were getting witness reports about what happened. The passenger was a blonde, and Bryant pulled into the Park Hyatt around the corner from the collision and let the passenger off. The passenger contacted police at some later time. We don't know what reason Bryant had for avoiding police contact with the first collision(s) or going around the corner out of sight of witnesses after the fatality. Right now, he just stands charges of driving bad

  • Prior to Bryant's ramming of Sheppard, Sheppard showed no aggression, what compelled Bryant to do so? Did Bryant not understand that cyclists are allowed to take the right-of-way? If this was accidental, why did Bryant accelerate twice in short succession? Why did Bryant try to leave the scene? Is it acceptable under the law to use a car to knock someone down?

  • Because of the construction downtown, there is basically just one lane in each direction, so there wasn't a bike line. If Sheppard passed on Bryant's left side, he might have been preparing to go left. Either way, by law, cyclists are supposed to get a full lane. Bryant might have been angry that the cyclist moved in front of him and would prevent him from driving fast. That didn't give him the right to intimidate the cyclist by hitting him or killing him by dragging him to his death.
