  • The trains wistle sounds like the one on the hogwarts express. Neat.

  • @Thestarfychannel I think the whistle you heard on the Hogwarts video was in fact Tornado's (perhaps lurking in the background), as it didn't appear to come from the red loco.

  • jajaja goes like a bullet

  • Super! Tornado is a marvellous embodiment of commitment, skill and sheer

brilliance that reminds us of how great Brits. can be! And a wonderful setting

that so many know from holidays in glorious Devon.

  • I am extremely impressed with the number of railfans both young and old who still enjoy the hobby (referring to the number of people in the vid who came to watch the Tornado pass by). In America the hobby seems to be waning.

  • @trainmaster5000

At the current time there are still alive a large population of 'baby boomers' (born 1944 -1947) who remember, and enjoyed, steam operations in the U.K. up to 1968. They probably form the bulk of the steam enthusiasts. It will be interesting to see, in the next 20 years, as this older generation pass on whether this enthusiasm is sustainable, or follows the U.S. where mass steam operations finished 15 years earlier than the U.K. and fewer people remember the 'glory days'.

  • @bankerbertha Thanks for the insight. I certainly hope that in 20 years these steam locos will still be looked after and that rail museums will continue to thrive.

  • @bankerbertha I am 16 years old and from America and have never seen a steam locomotive on mainline service in my life, and unfortunately probably never will, however I will love steam till the day I die. I am ashamed that there are those who see fit to exterminate some of the finest pieces of American engineering and building in her history. It is yet another terrible sign that the United States has lost touch with her heritage.

  • What an Amazing video mate 5* + Fav Dawlish is a great lovely place with those of places to flim and taking photos.

  • very good

  • Loads of People sitting on the wall just like it was back in the 60's or so I was told anyway.

    5*

  • wow i was on boad on this clip and there was loads of people all the way round the wall just jaw dropping 5 stars !

  • Really excellent filming. Very enjoyable.

  • Running steam video, great!! 5*

  • wicked, i was onboard this one,

am going to watch her aug 8th,

is dawlish or t'mouth best to watch?

    thanks

  • I think Dawlish offers more scope for viewpoints, with footpaths above the tunnel mouth etc.

Teignmouth gets a bit crowded, as you can see, and it's difficult to get an overall view. (I chose T'mouth because I was running late and might have missed it if I had gone on to Dawlish!).

  • thank you,

    love the doppler too

  • awesome

  • Lovely shot of T speeding round the bend.

Talk about popular - looks big mobs of people turned out to watch her.
