  • Is that a horn or baritone solo at the beggining?

  • @jill08ian12 its a Horn solo, my school is playing it this year and its a really great song

  • My favorite hometown composer! Hes from Monroe, Louisiana. So am I!!!!

  • the motif that the trumpets play at 1:10 for the first time is like Gershwin's rhapsody in blue

  • 5/4 can be tricky but if you get someone who has lots of creative ideas it can be really affective and a great way to separate your band from all the others at competitions! you just have to have someone who can write drill properly and knows what they are talking about! hahaha we did it and it really got us great comments and judges loved and i mean LOVED it!

  • what are you guys talking about it? marching mars was easy! then again plainfield central is beast XD haha not saying you guys arent. i know what youre talking about frank ticheli is amazing when it comes to composing but his songs are hard! look up angels in the architecture by him

  • you marched ticheli? well, thats not too strange...i've seen bands marching Holsts' The Planets...it was horrible...how are you supposed to march 5/4?!?!

  • I know what you mean. As part of the show, Cajun Folk Songs mvmt. 2 "Belle" was played and that is also in 5/4 time. It wasn't too hard after a LOT of practice. haha. Our show ended up pretty good too.

  • That sounds like it would take alot of work, and it sounds like it would be a fun show to watch:)

  • This song is so cool. Having Blue Shades as our Marching Band piece really opened up all of these wonderful Frank Ticheli compositions up to me.
