You know, I always found him funnier as a riffer on Cinematic Titanic, and in interviews, than he was as "TV's Frank". That's not really a criticism. I was just surprised to find out how good a riffer he is.
and still, even knowing all this and being to do all this, you may still not find a good job without knowing someone somewhere. you may have to go to a grad school program to become specialized in a certain field. of course there's the possiblity that something freakish, psychotic and horrible could happen before ever make it to grad school.
be able to explain the laws of thermodynamics, how to balance a chemical equation, the difference between causation and correlation, be able to conduct statistical analysis, be able to mathematically solve physics problems involving centripidal force, know what a mole is and who avogadro was, how the presence or absence of valence electrons relate to how atoms and elements interact, know what the alien and sedition acts were, be able to explain ecological succession
be able to explain why it's important to differentiate between energy efficiency and energy conservation, know what commensalism and mutualism are, be able to give the species and genus of any tree that grows in north america by looking at it's bark and leaves, more generally be able to read a landscape and discern it's history through the presence or absence of certain natural features, know what the hay market riots were, be able to write a learned essay on how mao tze dong came to power,
you may have to go to grad school and "specialize" in something. you could know the hardy-weinberg equation, what the thermohaline ocean conveyor belt is and it's significance in terms of global warming, how convection currents relate to earthquakes, the difference between k and r species, written essays on the chuang tzu, explain the difference between asco and basidiomycetes, be able to explain the intricacies of fungal reproduction, have studied the works of historian william cronin,
In a certain sense people who claim that going to and graduating from certain schools doesn't guarantee a lucrative job aren't completely wrong. if you go to a highly competitive liberal arts college, where everyone has an verbal sat score of 650 and above and they all graduated in the top 10% of their high school class, and you do well and graduate, you may still not find employment suited to your level of education and intelligence, say if you majored in art history or even history.
