The police showed up in riot gear in response to numerous counts of disorderly conduct, multiple persons with dangerously, some lethally high, BAC's, and willful destruction of public property. The refusal of the party goers to disband the event is what incited the "intimidation" tactics. Anyone who threw anything at an officer was guilty of assault, & the police were extremely adept at picking their assailants out of the crowd. The police showed up in riot gear in response to numerous counts of disorderly conduct, multiple persons with dangerously, some lethally high, BAC's, and willful destruction of public property. The refusal of the party goers to disband the event is what incited the "intimidation" tactics. Anyone who threw anything at an officer was guilty of assault, & the police were extremely adept at picking their assailants out of the crowd. Even as messy as the block looks, I don't see anything even remotely resembling a riot. There also appears to be no one resisting any sort of arrests. @ladylordess Credible to myself. I think someone who was there has more weight in a debate than someone who saw an edited video of a few minutes at the party. As far as crowd control goes, (and you would know this had you attended the wheeler block party) That this whole riot gear-bottle throwing could've been avoided by making an arrest of the three kids who were messin with the stop sign. By the officers right nearby. Wouldn't that have been a better solution? No macing innocent kids, no LRAD.

@ladylordess I'm sorry, but I don't believe that one stop sign was worth that many innocent students getting hurt. Some deserved the mace/LRAD. Most did not.

@ladylordess I know what your getting at. Students were tryin to comply with police commands, backin up onto their own lawns of their own houses, and still getting sprayed because the mace they were using was meant for a lot of people, not just one. So often while people are gettin out of the way, one drunk kid causes trouble and six people end up gettin sprayed. Wind travels. And people lived at these houses, that's their private property. Some kid got arrested just for sittin on his lawn.

@Dirionis So legally speaking, you are aware that the bottom line is that they were free to leave. I would have suggested that, if I were there.
If you were a parent, and you were trying to protect your child, you would have swept them into the house for safety, instead of standing on lawn during civil discourse.
One just use their head to avoid such things.

Also... You, the person who is owner of the video, you clearly should have told more about how the people were agitating the police on, by shouting "Fuck the police" and making asses of themselves to get attention and some provoked the police as well.

If they don't fire the idiot who called the cops in, every incoming freshman should find another school now! This is not going to get better over time! Parents - do you want you son or daughter to be treated like this? There are plenty of good schools in this country who will be more than happy to treat your young adult children like human beings.

No the police were clearing the public street walking right by the crowdes on private prop. If you are a part of a crowd and then some start destoying public property like a stop sign you will have repercution of having them clear the street.
