  • hey. I like it. everybody looks disciplined, the all white kinda reminds me of phantom reg, but your technique is more of SCV i think, clean sets, and I just wanna say that i'm glad to see a successful high school marching band that doesn't over use props. koodos.

  • @321MyDrive That's not out real uniform btw. That was just our competing uniform for 2008. It was meant to look like snow. We wear green and white usually.

  • @bandxlover Still, I like it :)

  • Can everybody just stop hating on this band / each other... they won and that's that... they obviously deserved it or they woulnd't have won... No need for hating on anything.

  • Animelover3400 dartmouth's percusion and marching are excellent, but there is no way they should have won first this year let alone won best music. All they played was a few syncapated rythms till the very end. The only reason they won first was politics. Im not saying theyre bad at all, but at very least basset and west johnson shoulve scored higher.

  • @pruschy11 very true, thank you :)

  • @pruschy11 I wish you could've seeeeeen my clarinet parts for this show. Syncopated rhythms, I think not.

  • I wish our band could march as well this year as we did in '08. We'd be absolutely unstoppable. Now our biggest problem is getting new kids to be in step and get the drill right. -__-

  • WINDSPRINTS!

  • I think the guard did pretty well, considering way more than half of us were freshmen... But we rocked it in 2009! :D

  • For clarification-

USSBA is centered around smaller bands that don't rely on props, voice-overs, and large sums of money to win. A 5A band at USSBA is a group 1-2A band in BOA, so there is a big size difference.

USSBA-Smaller bands, less money involved, centered more around the music and traditional marching band

BOA- Larger bands, more props and other effects, centered more around the newer style of marching.

  • @pchsalumni whats the newer styleof marching?

  • @thebigman9507 Look at differences between ussba and boa perfomances as a whole and get back to me. I outlined a good number within my post.

  • @pchsalumni So you're saying USSBA has shitty bands? And BOA has amazing perfect bands?

  • @Samonuh Fake generalizations Sam. Hope you don't do that in real life.

So to correct your attitude, I will reference you to my first post. I will say no more on the issue. It all boils down to money, visuals, and numbers.

USSBA-Smaller bands, smaller budgets, less on visual performance. I'm making a prediction, and I bet I'm right. West Johnston, a BOA band that has never made it into finals is competing in USSBA this year. I'm betting they'll be Class V Nat. Champs. this year...so we'll see.

  • @pchsalumni My band compete in USSBA, and visually we're fabulous. My school also dedicates a lot of money towards the band...so you make no sense. You are saying we are poor budget wise and performance wise, which is a terrible stereotype.

  • @Samonuh Calling your own band "fabulous" discredits alot of your argument.

Look up Lassiter, LD Bell, Reagan, Broken Arrow, Carmel, etc. You think I'm being rude towards USSBA when I'm not, nor any of the bands involved with USSBA. BOA is simply on a high caliber. Nation champions of USSBA would have nearly no chance of even making FINALS at BOA. If you knew alot about marching programs, you would agree with me.

  • @pchsalumni Well I'd have to agree with you there, because the judging focus is different. BOA goes for a really big music sound, which causes only big band to go to finals. My band has only 100 members, which means we can never produce a sound such as Avon. But we've gotten higher scores than South Brunswick, who made it to Semi-Finals last year in BOA, which says something I guess...

  • @pchsalumni guess you were wrong since dartmouth won class V nats this year. again.

  • @z444ch Like I said before, I won't get on another bands page and trash them...but how, I don't know.

And p.s.- First year they competed in USSBA, didn't even get into Finals at BOA, and STILL got 2nd in the Nation. So my point stands.

  • @pchsalumni Dartmouth still beat them this year. And came damn close to them in the guard caption when they supposedly have some amazing world class guard. Our score charts for percussion said they would've given us more points if it had been possible. Dartmouth > West Johnston. That's just how it was.

Someone needs to put the 2010 finals video up here.

  • @bandxlover If Dartmouth went to BOA Grand Nationals they MIGHT make it into semi-finals. I don't know what your director gives to the judges each year, but it is absolutely insane to see better programs year after year fall to Dartmouth.

Dartmouth would have killed my band in a competition any day. They are a stellar program, just not enough to defeat some of the programs they do in Nationals. And West DOES have world class guard, I won't even gratify that with a rebuttal.

  • @pchsalumni Actually I know for a fact that our director gives nothing to the judges in any act of bribery. Because our director is my father. Anywho, our programs are typically deeper and more developed than your typical band show. I don't know if you saw our 2010 production, but it speaks for itself.

  • @bandxlover i know who can put it up, and we did get a 400/400 at nationals this year for percussion and i think the gaurd got 19/20 or something, idk what the band got

  • wow the criteria for winning in ussba is not exactly what it is at BOA Grand Nationals. This show would not even come close to finals

  • @JKelly8778 Agree, but they would rape the percussion caption, BOA lines are too big and hardly ever reached a high level of cleanliness, this is the first high school fall line i've heard play that clean

  • @charliegfrenz I agree that this is a very mature drumline, also check out the colleyville drumline of 07 they are a big line but they are clean

  • This is nationals? lol

  • How can I buy this music??

  • go indians :)

  • hmm.... contras on the...right shoulder...and, baritones...on shoulders...what the heck?

  • Shoulder baritones are for kids who are too weak to hold up regular marching baritones/euphoniums, IMO. Throw these kids full-sized left shoulder contras and King euphoniums!

Enough with my ranting. Some constructive criticism: the marching and percussion were the best parts of the show. The hornline definitely needs to work on its intonation; kids stick out and play out of tune with ugly sounds the entire time. It's like the band is struggling to get through the show (musically)

  • I agree with you on the part that you said the band was struggling to get through the show musically. I was in the show, I was a senior and a section leader and knew my music perfectly, but I can't say the same for the freshmen. The staff tend to(not on purpose i think) concentrate on the marching part a bit more. since my freshman year, the level of difficulty for the music has decreased because we became more and more concentrated on the marching.

  • After watching this a few times and seeing this show in person a last year, i don't have any clue how we won this year.

  • Asterisk94; we only have one quad, but we ended up in 6th place which we are really happy about, we had a bad run though couple tears in the first movement hurt us

  • love the arrangement of october

  • you guys perform right before us this year at nationals! I cant wait to see how it turns out you guys are awesome!!

  • im from bunnell, you guys destroyed us last night, we came in dead last, 90.525. and clevelandband09, if you guys are the band without the quads then you guys were awesome at nationals last night.

  • Go Dartmouth! You have such good musicality!!! I loved it! I am from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah and we played that show in 2006 but you did a much better job!

  • to bad we aren't half as good this year as we were last year

in my opinion we have no chance of winning

    at all

  • You just wait.

  • good lord you guys sound like a dci corps. soo sick haha we are competing against each other this year at ussba...yeeaaaaa i think you have us beat haha

  • who do you march with?

  • panther creek

  • haha we'll see..it'll be fun.

  • your pretty good but i think salem is going to beat you this year

  • You guys were amazing we missed your performance but you warmed up next to us, and well wow!

We came in 7th at nationals and you showed us why!

    Amazing!

  • overall you guys sound amazing. Everytime you come to NESBA, you do a great job. I just want to congratulate you on your superior performance.

  • i thought the line was sick, and great pit too. the drill was impeccable, but i thought the music was lacking. great show. 4/5
