  • wtf these grahpics are as bad as halo 1

  • Finally! Took me an hour to find the right fucking song.

  • Data centers just aren't what they used to be as filming locations.

  • I don't think that's a dot-matrix printer.

I'm thinking that's a high speed line printer, a band printer.

  • And the video game is "Star wars", and I have played it in "Constitucion City", Buenos Aires, Argentina, South America, Earth Planet, Third after the sun, Milky Way galaxy (East side)

  • SHUT UP AND ENJOY= MI-SEX!

  • 80's in the tags? It came out in 1979 FFS!

  • mi-sex is a kiwi band, bloody aussies!

  • @bmibiketrial

  • one of the best KIWI!!!! bands of the 80s

  • I love this song.

  • This song and space invaders, by player one were both in the charts at the same time, but you can not download the later !!!!!!!!!!! both classic Australian songs.

  • wow i was in 7th grade wen this song came out

  • Best fucking song ever

  • I fidget with the digit dots and cry an anxious tear. As the XU-1 connects the spot. But the matrix grid don't care. Get a message to my mother. What number would she be? There's a million angry citizens, looking down their tubes at me. Com-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-puter-puter, puter games!

  • Brilliant song that never dates! Love it!

  • I remember this song came out the summer of 1980. They definitely had insight as to what the sound was going to be like in the next several years.

  • No commkent

  • Saturday Jan 16, 2010 the keyboard player died, not the studio keyboard player mentioned on the albums, but the live profermances. "Aussie" Robert Walter Taylor age 54. Still had the bop and head bang nod, great fox trot too.

  • Mi Sex were ahead of their time. They wrote about things that werent even invented at the time. Nowadays computer games are the norm but this 30 years ago. When the only game was Pacman. Same with "People" They sung about genetic engineering before anybody had ever heard about it.

  • In November 1991, while returning to his home after a gig, Steve Gilpin (Mi-Sex lead singer) was seriously injured in a major car accident. He lapsed into a coma from which he never recovered. He died in Southport Hospital, Qld, Australia on January 6, 1992.

    RIP Steve !

  • Aussie missed his friend Steve. Watch the youtube videos, You Don't Care, Down the Line, and Shangheied. Robert Walter Taylor is the keyboard and piano player.

G'Day Australia...he flew the flag proudly in the USA. Please remember his Mum, who still resides in Australia, sister, daughter, grandsons, great grandchild, and son.

  • @dizzydaiseybee Please contact me - I'm Rob's daughter.

  • Long live the memory of the charismatic Steve Gilpin. Great pop band of early 80's.

    Great clip for its time.

  • I bought the 45 years ago, still have it too;great song.

  • Holy Crap!!! Love 80's music and youtube for reasons like tripping across an awesome tune while looking for an even older kick ass tune by the same name.

  • Fucking classic.

  • I Love this song/band.

I always thought this track was talking

    about the FUTURE,

(Ironically )aren't we living this song right now????

    Hey zapkvr,

Being a huge fan of TRON,I

've heard rumours of TRON 2 being made.

    Imagine the graphics done Today!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers Gav.

  • After the disaster Disney had with The black hole, they almost redeemed themselves with Tron. Of course there is only way it could be remade and that is if Jeff Bridges played the lead. Damn that would be good.

  • does anybody know that race car game they are playing in the start of the video it looks familar.

  • They were a great band. Saw them support Cheap Trick in Canberra just after this song was released. Steve Gilpin died of a disease which was fairly unknown at the time. "Car Crash". Never heard that B4.

  • Great song but a reminder of how hopeless computer graphics were back then...

  • awesome

  • So glad to find this clip, correct Steve Gilpin died in a car crash, family friend Murray Burns (Muzza) currently lives in Queensland, and enjoying life to the full, as can and should be expected......great life experienced by all in the 70/80's.....those WERE GR8 DAYS INDEED.....Play it again and Enjoy.

  • Sorry, Muzza is on Keyboard in the clip.

  • The graphics look like Tron. I wish they would bring that movie back, it was WILD.

  • car accident at murwilumbah, now that has to suck

  • I always used to think this was a 'Talking Heads' song- I was born in the 80's! Did'nt find out they kiwis until the early 2000's. Yeah, proud to be a New Zealander!

  • Yeah and I'm proud to have blue eyes, like I had a choice.

  • Such A Big Hit In Australia In The 70's l:) i rememba they won so many awards at the Tv Week Countdown :o

  • Hacía años que la llevaba buscando pues es de mi infancia...gracias...¡un saludo!

  • Very underrated band...

Boy this song takes be back to when I got my first job after school...

  • this guy died is dead

  • Notice the obsolete computers

  • Obsolete computers in this clip? I must be missing them. Where are you seeing those?

  • I hope you are only joking

  • capt obvious

  • Compupupupupupupupu - ter Games !

  • haha next thing u knO the auzzies wil b sayin SCRIBE is theirs LOL... i hOpe they take th@ dick away

  • Good old band ..The clip shows how far computers and games have advanced since that time..

  • @boofheadrules

It actually shows us how most everything has advanced from those times.

  • @WhoDoYouHaveToScrew Except NZ fashions ;-)

  • Met Steve the lead singer at the Broady at surfers in 91.Was a top bloke, had me and me mates up on stage singing with him for a few songs,we Roared, was a top night, sad he's no longer with us.

  • The 80's were soooo 80's. :)

  • ooopps, after 26 years I have been able to find this great song!! (It´s not a joke)

This song has a great base and nice guitar. Is the band from New Zeland?

  • Yes, from New Zealand

  • What year is this song from? It's absolutely amazing; it reminds me of Men Without Hats at their peak!

    Thanks for uploading!

  • Kiwis~!!

  • Where were this band from?

  • The UK

  • lol? UK didnt do this song, new zealand did in 79 lol.

  • New Zealand!!

  • does anyone out there know if mi-sex put out a video of their song ..people. I cant find it on youtube.

  • I kind of like this song. I remember this older girl playing this for me in her car when we hung out years back. This song came out around 1979-80?? Anyways, These guys look like they're trying be the next Kraftwork of their time. Kind of gay :D

  • i remember a very similar TIE fighter game on my Commodore 64

  • cutting edge stuff.....

  • Lol, this was on Kath and Kim

    :P

  • the only dude who deserves credit for this is the keyboardist.

nice riff. other than that, the song (and video) are ass.

  • Love those state of the art graphics! The basketball game I remember very well - it had this huge ball instead of a joystick you had to roll around, and press a button to shoot the ball. Now I feel very old. Argh. Cheers for posting, anyway!

  • Track-ball. Missile Command used one as well.

You can also get them for computers—thopugh they're much smaller. And they were common on notebooks for a while—yet tinier. Personally i hate a track-ball on a computer; i'd much rather use a mouse or a an isometric stick (TrackPoint). Happily, on computers, track-pads have pretty much totally displaced by track-balls.

But a track-ball is worlds better than the binary joysticks that were a staple of game hardware in the '80s.

  • i know the drummer paul dunningham we are great friends

  • Hey there mate, i was my sex's biggest fan for 15 years even in the New Zealand days.. before they were Mi Sex.

If you truly are a friend of Paul's i would love to get in contact with him & and some of the other members who's numbers are obsolete.

Tell Paul "Hooter" would like to contact him

  • Ahhh..another those tunes KROQ hammered me with during my immpresionable years.

  • I remember first hearing this song in Thredbo 2 years ago, outside the River Rock Cafe with the huge speakers, they would play that song frequently.

    R.I.P. Steve Gilpin

    1949-1992

  • Anyone who loved New York radio station WLIR will always remember this little gem.

  • We have remixed this song. Search for Noobileet ;)

  • new zealand is a shit place to live and our prime minister is a male impersonator

  • Mate your an idiot, new zealand rocks! you should shut the hell up. Safest country in the world, one of the cleanest, least people!

  • Has anyone got the 'People' vid? IMHO it was Misex's best song.

  • Awesome!

  • I didn't like this song when it was released but heard it again about a year ago and totally loved it, great tune with a fat bottom end.

  • i agree with sticks its a fact

  • I take it you're an aussie (with a chip on your shoulder?)

Kiwi's want to be aussies like Iranians want to be americans!

  • New Zealand must be a shit place to live as they are moving over to Aussie by the thousands!! NZ with a population of 4 million plus 1 million living abroad... that speaks volumes..it's a case of last one turn off the lights!

  • A quote from a 70's politician may help clarify the situation - people going to Aussie from NZ raises the IQ of both nations!

  • that's funny as. i wish i was that smart.

  • I'm from Aotearoa-now living in Oz, I call myself a sheepshager?! lolol hahaha....

  • I know Aussies are sexless but you must be really desperate!

  • Wtf is that supposed to mean?!

  • I think it translates roughly as "I'm a boring little shit, who's wanked too many times today to do it again, so i'm trolling around the internet making droll insults instead."

  • Hahaha!

  • kiwi music rules mi sex is the best nz band ever rock on dudes

  • I wanna be an aussie like I wanna prolapse

  • Whatever happened to Kiwi rock bands? The 70s and 80s saw many great Kiwi acts such as Mi-Sex and Split Enz, and they were good - very good.

  • com pu pu pu pu pu pu pu compputer games :D

  • should read like winning lotto

  • one of the best live acts EVER steve you were one in a MILLION bands like MI SEX ere like the chance of winning lotto......

  • wow look at those mainframes, what a machine. no way they could build anything to match it nowdays.

  • They do. Seen a IBM P595 lately?

What sort of hardware runs the stars wars space programme? Some serious kit....

  • That was an arcade game from 1979 that ripped off star wars, originally it was going to be the star wars arcade game but the deal was cancelled for some reason.

  • That videogame (shown between 2:10 and 3:53) was called Starfire, and it was produced by Exidy in 1979, and yes, it WAS high-tech for its time, but nothing compared to today's games, more then 20 years later.

  • Love this song.

Anyone know a site where I could find out how to play this on the guitar?

  • Oz rock rocks RIP Steve

  • This is a New Zealand band. As were Crowded House and Dragon (if you didn't know). If you're an Aussie, you're too thick to know. If you're a Kiwi, shoot yourself!

  • For a matter of fact Crowded house formed in Melbourne, Australia. The original line up included 3 Aussies and Neil Finn was the only kiwi. Alot of the earlier material eg "don't dream its over" were written and recorded on Australian shores. Even Finn himself last created an oproar in your country. When he proclaimed Crowded house being an Australian band. So coming from an "Aussie", i would like to say that you are the thick one.

  • Well, Oz was a much larger market than NZ - so it's no surprise that NZ talent sometimes goes to Oz to find somewhere they can develop and get paid for it.

Where the band formed, or where the music was written is immaterial.

Crowded House is a Kiwi band - it's singer & song writer is a Kiwi, end of story.

Neil can say what he likes (and I don't believe he says as you claimed) - he can't change his heritage.

  • oh give it up

  • i'm amazed just how small minded some people are...

Hmmmm... leadsinger is Kiwi but forms band in Australia with two other Aussies. However, band is Kiwi because singer is Kiwi...

Oh wait, I think I got it! Van Halen's mainmen were born in Holland; therefore, Van Halen are a Dutch band! Wow... such clarity!

  • @crowdedenz87 split enz and i think both finn brothers were in both bands ...

  • mean song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Steve Gilpin needed to have a dance off with Peter Allen

  • forget about where i was in 1979.lol..TAKE A LOOK @ the computer systems. i reckon my mobile phone has the same capacity as the comps in this clip! great song by the 'sex.. breath of fresh air at the time...

  • Seriously. When new wave/synthpop first came out, it was so fun to listen to. I know of only a few bands out today that are any good....and none are actually FUN to listen to cruising around.

  • ah the kiwi milk bar, Alexandra, ice cream, fush'n'chups, the first space invaders machine in town, and this playing on the radio.

  • This is soooo campy. Steve Gilpin sounding at first like he is being goosed and then turning into a total screaming queen, Murray whatsisname fondling his bass ... oh dearie me.

  • wow this takes me back

  • Steve Gilpin remained in Australia and worked with a number of bands including Under Rapz. In November 1991, Steve was involved in a car accident on the Gold Coast while returning to his home after a gig in Coolangatta. He lapsed into a coma from which he never recovered. He died in Southport Hospital on 6th January 1992.

  • Magnificent stuff! I've always loved this song.

  • I lov THIS!!!!

  • A bunch of drunkards miming to Gary Numan's leftovers! I love it!

  • GOOD COUNTRY AUSTRALIA HUH...

  • They are acutally from NZ.

  • i know that ..but they came here to make it...

  • Oh, right. Didn't know that bit. :) Very cool.

  • well guess wot gorgous? now ya do!

  • Thankx, smexy. lol.

  • thats ok cupcakes.

  • Knew it had to be a kiwi band cause they did a break & enter..File Servers 70's style...lol

  • I love you for uploading this, I'm only 23 but I adore this band and my parents and a friend saw them live at The Wanganui Opera House.

    Cheers <3

  • Fush and chups for all the bros..choice.

  • Us Kiwi's don't have an accent we tulk unglush tha way it shuld be spokun.

  • kiwis occasionally produce something really good......just a pity about having the world's most annoying accent!

  • hm...

what's an "enlarged Spacies machine" again?

lol... thx for the vid :-)

  • Dragon, Mi-Sex, Split Enz... Good work Kiwi's, luv ya work.

    Go the All Blacks!!!

  • Steve "gumboot" Gilpin and his band were a regular feature on a New Zealand 'programme' called 'nice one Stu'in the late '70's, Stu kept calling him 'gumboot' and the name stuck...lol...very advanced video for '79,us Kiwi's have always been innovaters.......

  • I shot it in Sudney.Gairt your fects right.

  • Kiwis know how to make good music (and rugby teams apparently). New Zealand-good for much more than sheep

  • This song is great up loud and speeded up slightly...thanx for the nostaligia Saynotowave.

  • this is most defintly the most ridiclous video clip ive ever seen hence one of the funniest things ive ever seen

  • Plz remember, that's a '79 vid mate. The mass storage reels amd dot matrix printers being high-tech then. Plus their music being lot better than todays (c)rap, hip&hap, etc.

  • MDDDDDDDDRR !!! ça démonte !!!!

  • OMFG!!! I remember seeing this vid about 25- or 30 years ago...it was the first video I had ever seen and this was WAAAAAYYYY before MTV got started....I'm thinking about 1979/1980...sounds dorky, but this song's been swimming in my gourd since then and is probably the reason I was positively addicted to video games in the 80s!!! Thanks for the post...MAN, what memories!!!

  • Yes -- you and I must have had the same childhood memories. They used to play this and other videos on HBO between regular programming (which -- more often than not -- was a re-run of _The Wiz_ with Michael Jackson). My brother and I still bust out compu-pu-pu-pu...even to this day...just to get the other one to laugh.

  • Thank you for posting your comment, IceTre, my sister and I do exactly the same thing to this day, as you and your brother: we sing compu-pu-pu-pu etc and we both know exactly what song the other is singing, it makes us laugh so much. We live in London and we were 10 and 11 years old on holiday in Sydney Australia when we heard the song in a Sydney shopping mall and loved it!

  • haha I know them.. as in, i KNOW them lol one of them is my dad XD

  • which one is your dad

  • wtf you on about sudowoodonumbers man cant become lesbian

    lesbian = women

poofs gay or fags = men

  • Steve Bilpin the lead singer died on the cnr of the mullumbimby pacific hwy turnoff in the late 80s where he had a band acalled, under wraps,in the late 80s,i lived nearbye and was a bigtime misex fan in the 70s and 80s seen em live many a time,,Pete,,rip Stevo

  • Steve Gilpin died in 1992, I thought it was early 80s so I was way out!

Blue Day was probably their best.

  • I heard Mi-Sex is a lesbian group

  • Omg finally I get to see Mi-Sex vids, yay!

  • I wonder what ever happened to this group? I heard a rumour that the lead singer died in a car accident years ago? Alway thought they were an Australian band but they were from New Zealand obviously. Loved there song 'Blue Day'.
