Oh gosh, man I just live George! I went to his concert on December 2nd, and he split the crowd up, and each side had to sing the chorus of Ring Of Fire. And then I think the drummer was the judge, and our team leader was Guse, the fiddle player, and whoever lost had to do an impression of Tina Turner's Private Dancer, and we lost, but hahaha his impression was halarious!

Johnny Cash is the one and only. His original song is amazing. No one will ever sound like him. No one.

With that said, George Canyon's version is unique unto itself. George's tribute has musical merit (worth). He sings better than you or I. His voice is mellow and strong.

The way I see it, both are pleasing to hear. Leave both men alone and simply listen to the song (or songs) that you like best. Period.

I am one of the biggest fans of Johnny Cash and his music, but he even covered songs by different artist. He did a remake of "Hey Little Girl" by Bruce Springstein, and even "Hurt" was first recorded by it's writer Trent Reznor and his band Nine Inch Nails.
