Pretty much Haruhi is a totally randomized anime. I would think that they got ideas from Otaku No Video, because it parodied the seriousness of Otaku, however, Comic party and Genshiken are an update on current Otaku culture ^_^/

I think the animation for Haruhi Suzumiya was really wonderful, especially the eyes. The CG I think was used where it was appropriate for what they were trying to achieve (like in the episode Day of Sagittarius, it's supposed to be a joke on those space shows and games). As for the non-linear timeline, I think it made it MUCH more effective, and the ending was much better in the non-linear timeline. Plus, it makes it more suspenseful when it's shown that way.

Says who? Sometimes there are awesome dubs. I tend to watch anime subbed and dubbed to see what both are like objectively. Cowboy Bebop had an excellent dub and I honestly prefer the English vocal track. Some shows, like Gravitation, Haruhi, Death Note, I prefer the sub, but that's not to say one is superior. It depends on the individual anime.
