BERLIN (Reuters) – A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar to the one in "Nordrach" by the band Jud's Gallery not to have been copied

@biggerbigd He used an Ovation 12 string for the WIlliam Tell Overature - but it only had 6 strings on it!!!! The spacing between strings was larger - much less buzzing!!!! This is a very old trick but there are not too many that can really pull it off - like Campbell!!!!!!!!!!!!
@cirosuperiore - The man is 75 years old -- what did you expect on his head? What will you look like when you're 75? And even if you have all your hair at 75 -- play that music on a twelve string over your head like Glen Campbell did -- in front of a few thousand people. Oh...you should also try and play it after you have been diagnosed with Alzheimers. I'm patient. I'll wait.
My Dad was a Glen Campbell Fan and I've got a greatest hits LP but never knew the guy was one of THE great guitarists, thought he was just a country singer,,,until YouTube !!!
I once lived near Hazard, KY, population 703 - but there's a landing strip (VERY small and dangerous) there, and one day a small plane landed, no air traffic control at all, and the plane taxied to a stop and out stepped GLEN CAMPBELL. This was 25 years ago. Said he owned a lot of coal reserves (surprise) and was dropping in to look at his stuff and visit with the Gormans (rich folks in town). Heh. Great guy.
these guys are amazing with their real music. and the guitar antics show they are having fun cutting up enjoying what they do. we've lost a lot of good folks lately God bless em all!
I was there and while watching him I knew I was watching one of the last of the legendary entertainers that the 20th Century had produced performing before me. It was special to witness this. I got to the stage that evening where I shook his hand and got his autograph too. A gentleman and a living legend...
Classical music on a twelve string electric guitar -- played live and over his head. Are you kidding? Glen Campbell -- you are a marvel.

I don't like it so much but I admit that he plays very well and it's not so bad.

@sbbinahee I saw him today, 5/17/11, in St. Cloud, MN. He shows signs of age, but his musicianship remains superb. Beyond superb, really.
I agree: he *owns* a serious chunk of 20th century pop music history.
