  • BOUT TIME! Hunter Thompson's biggest failure was that the miserable little puss couldnt entice a bunch of bikers to kill his sorry ass.

  • ¡Que fuerte!

  • this documentary was sick

    watch it on netflix

  • it seems that if you had a good attitude, you wouldn't resort to name calling. Your words don't exactly convey a good attitude. My attitude is working out for me just fine. It is only your faggoty ass that is bothered.

  • Vous nous manquez Dr. Thompson !!!! Plus jamais nous ne verrons de journalistes avec autant de burnes.... GONZO Forever !!!!

  • Is that Nick Noltie speaking?

  • government killed him...

  • @jamesbates92 never knew who he was till i watched this video /watch?v=7YWRXKeBSiE then searched for this interview /watch?v=uyCck98_mbY then clicked here to read never call 911 this means you...could that be a warning to others that speak out in h-wood?

  • We are letting the bastards and the swine WIN! Hunter is gone but not forgotten. Who can help fill the gap now?! GONZO!

  • He made snuff films. Google the Franklin coverup.

  • :(

  • say what you want about suicide but it's a way out....it's my way out

  • Raoul Duke: There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

  • @sqweezel douche

  • Lmao ... Killed by the government. If tge government was going to kill thompson why wouldnt they do it in the 70's before mass internet media. Ill raise a glass of vodka (no whiskey or mezcal sorry hunter) and smoke a joint in the proper fashion to the defacing of the american status quo, the cookie cutter impressions left over from our parents, and the wild thinking free minds that so viserally allowed us to move deeper into our own minds and laugh at a useless institution... God bles the nfl

  • there is no sorrow in death, no matter how tragic or subtle. hunter s thompson doesn't give a shit about youtube. he had more of a handle on the process of life and death than most dead people.

  • Who's narrating?

  • @MrUndersolo I'm 99.9% sure the man narrating is William S Burroughs

  • @MrBeavisBeavis nick nolte ass

  • "No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun — for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax — This won't hurt."

  • @HailSagan4Realz

    Ummm

You left out football season is over

  • Artist and friend Ralph Steadman wrote:

"...He told me 25 years ago that he would feel real trapped if he didn't know that he could commit suicide at any moment. I don't know if that is brave or stupid or what, but it was inevitable. I think that the truth of what rings through all his writing is that he meant what he said. If that is entertainment to you, well, that's OK. If you think that it enlightened you, well, that's even better.

  • Hard to understand what the fuck you're saying.

Hunter S Thompson impersonation, I guess.

  • even his suicide letter is written brilliantly. i wish we still had him here, but it's not what he wanted and fuck it i respect that. "if you wonder if he's gone to Heaven or Hell, rest assured he will check out them both, find out which one Richard Milhous Nixon went to — and go there. He could never stand being bored. But there must be Football too... and Peacocks..."-ralph steadman

  • two thumbs up!

  • How sad. As long as he enjoyed the life he had, and he said enough was enough, works for me. RIP Mr. Thompson.

  • RIP Hunter, its always sad when we lose one of our own. I can see where he was coming from though. Only christians fear death, he will be born again.

  • I really wish he was still alive but he didn't want to stick around so he did what felt right and i can respect that. R.I.P.

  • I just wonder what drives anyone else. Not knowing how they feel, you can only go by what you feel, I guess. So you can't judge. A life that seems fulfilled is not always the best. I just don't know, no easy answers or pat explanations . It's how he lived and how he wrote. If there was a way to describe what are only my impressions of Gonzo, is that he meant what he said, there was little bullshit here. Doesn't stop it from being a shame. But no one can know what went on. Find peace.

  • I love this clip more and more each time I hear it

  • Hunter S. Thompson was a true poet. Hunter, this one's for you, and all mah peoples that kicked the bucket: *pours large cup full of Kool-Aid on the floor*

  • He came to the last stop on his personal trolley, and said, "What else is there to do but to step off the platform?" So he stepped off.

  • This man was one of the greatest of his time! I'm sad that i'll never get to meet him, but if he didn't want to stick around...who would i be to stop him?

    RIP HST!

  • Hunter i think you know what i want to say and i'm too drunk too scribe it an other time. So please forgive me. Be proud of being what you are and i will try to give mostly (you know what i mean) each trip to you. And please forgive me for my english. I know this is an affront for a doctor in journalism

  • @foodepedia I think Thompson would disagree with you

  • who's narrating

  • @95Godfather Nick Nolte! Hell of a speaking voice!!!

  • The only thing wrong with HST is that he unwittingly encouraged a lot of no talents to believe that taking drugs and drinking to excess would make them better writers. It doesn't, you have to be a good writer sober first. The drink and drugs are just recreation.

  • Hunter...we still need you. Just sayin'.

  • @AdobeGillis Have you read every word he published? Have you re-read it and taken it into your soul? If not, then why do you want more? If so, then why do you want more? Thompson's spirit would be within you right now. Self-generating. Mingled with your own peculiar madness. Sticking a big finger in your poems and telling you how it's done. Enough, Thompson! Keep it down. Rest in Peace. Let us go, as we let you go. No need to clamor for another piece of another man's pie. Burp!

  • @Silenus6 This. So fucking much this. Truest fucking thing ever posted on youtube. Thank you.

  • @ZiddersRooFurry You're very welcome. Thank you. :)

  • @Silenus6 hey man watch this: /watch?v=oI3DlIrvoHg i think you'll understand how i feel about Hunter S. Thompson's literature

  • @Silenus6 Have you ever read Thompson? The man's foresight is uncanny to anything any journalist in any century could come up with. Have you read The Great Shark Hunt, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail 72', The rum Diary, Confessions of a Political Junkie?? If you don't think we're in need of Thompsons voice today then you are just totally out of touch with reality. Everything that man said in the 70s', 80s' and 90s' has come to fruition. The most brilliant journalist of the 20th Century!

  • @Str8Rydah11 Good point. :)

  • @Str8Rydah11 Also, many of the same things could probably be said of Sinclair Lewis. He was not as colorful a character as Thompson, and so has less counter-cultural appeal, but he was just as much of a thorn in the side of the establishment, just as prophetic, and prophesying long before Thompson came on the scene. Worth checking him out, if you haven't yet.

  • HUNTER WILL NEVER DIE!!! GONZO FOR LIFE MUTHERFUCKERS!!!!!

  • @Silenus6 gay comment. maudlin tripe much...

  • @caseyface3 Nice attitude, asshole. How's that working out for ya?

  • @Silenus6 I don't think you should take anybody's writing to seriously. Nothing wrong with enjoying Literature, but you sound obsessed. You try writing something. You might surprise your self.

  • does no one here relate his supposed "suicide" to his 9/11 interviews. search the interwebs for a list of the mysterious deaths of 9/11 first responders, and then tell me that Hunter's death was really a suicide. I don't know about you, but I'm calling bullshit. the only thing that would have been even more obvious would be if he died in a mysterious plane crash. wake up, people.

  • @NOLA556 - Juan, his son, and his grandson, were in the house when he shot himself. And he was on the phone with Anita, his wife/ "assistant". You conspiracy people are freaking amazing. Leave reality to the rest of us.

  • @NOLA556 Yea. And he was probably a lizard too. From illuminati. AND the masons.

Sarcasm aside, he did an interview about something questionable, and 5 years later kills himself... How does that become a proof that he was killed in your mind?

  • @NOLA556 Hunter was once quoted about how he'd like to die by driving off a cliff into an abandoned industrial site naked with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a case of dynamite in the trunk. He also wrote that taking speed would lead to a final freak out that would leave him "the walking babbling dead." Suicide was part of his thought process and I'm surprised he did it. In a way, I'm more surprised he lived long enough to do it at 67.

  • @gturner38 Killing yourself is the cowards way out of life. A friend died in a car train collision, another I had died from cancer, but he faced the fight against the big C. Just saying, it's terrible sad to kill yourself

  • @MetallicBill Oh fuck off with that bullshit. dying on your own terms and in your own time is a man's way. Clinging to life when you no longer want it, or can no longer live it bc you're a punk bitch who is scared of death is the coward's way out. The rest of us will live & die by our won terms like men. Have fun shitting & pissing on yourself as Haitian bitches abuse you in the nursing home faggot.

  • @misOBGYNist There's no call to abuse my thoughts and ideas, but I still disagree with yours in any regard. Have fun burning in Hell I suppose

  • @MetallicBill You bitch about abuse then proceed to wish that I go to hell. Too bad, you won't get your wish because hell doesn't exist. You're a fucking fool.

  • this guy did everything in his life.. I'm sure he died with a smile ;)

  • When the music's over

    Turn out the lights.

  • let him rest in peace,

    bronx66

  • First off, Hunter would have never been coerced into killing himself or even be put in a position where someone would try to make it look like he killed himself. The man had an arsenal of guns. If anyone would have stepped foot on his property that he didn't feel comfortable around, he would have blown them off his property or his house would be riddled with bullet holes from the gunfight. Plus, to think of his suicide as a conspiracy would tell me that you all don't know Hunter.

  • @erislaton Hunter was also a 67 year old man and he didn't have a gun in arms reach at all times. There is only so much he could have done. The conspiracy theory started because he was writing two journalistic reports, one about the 9/11 theory and the other about a child prostitution ring in DC. Either one would have gotten him assassinated by a government agency, literaly an agent shooting him through the window. Hunter wouldn't have been able to stop this.

  • @necroluster666 he always had a gun on him...ALWAYS

  • @erislaton There are good reasons to consider each side. The point of Gonzo journalism is to get people to keep thinking and keep an open mind. He thought anyone a fool who thought to themselves that they know the real story about something they didn't witness. I garuntee you didn't know Hunter either, who really did? But he would call you a fool as well, keep your mind open.

  • 17 years past 50, 17 more then i needed or wanted

  • Very brave.

  • Sounds like Tom Waits... who's reading?

  • @brooksolivier Nick Nolte

  • "Relax....this won't hurt".......my God. This is the first time I've heard of HST's suicide note. When he did it, I imagined him saying to himself, "I wonder what this feels like?" R.I.P., Dr. Gonzo.....let's have lunch.

  • Hunter did not commit suicide. He was killed b/c he was trying to expose the inside job of 9/11. If you listen to the interview he did with an Australian in 2002 he brings up the fact that the Bush administration had more to gain from 9/11 than anyone. Wake up people. Notice how many people the gov't sees as a threat supposedly commit suicide and then there is no follow up investigation? I can think of a dozen off the top of my head. Wake up to the New World Order or be a slave.

  • @ScrewSocialism people like you who think you are smarter than the rest of the world because only your brain could possibly comprehend the conspiracy you read on a bullshit website are so stupid its laughable

  • @yerdadnyermam Go easy on him, it may just be a conspiracy theory but there is some truth behind it. HST was working on 2 journalistic reports before he died that he never finished. One was about this 9/11 thing and the other was about a case of child prostitution going on in Washington DC. Both of these things could easily have been reason enough for him to be assassinated. It would only be right for someone who idolized HST to take this possibility seriously.

  • @yerdadnyermam Many other strange facts surrounding his death also lead to this idea. It would be right to take both possibilities into account, the suicide and the assassination.

  • @ScrewSocialism If that's true, then how the FUCK is Alex Jones still alive?

  • @ScrewSocialism oh fuck you man im trying to mourn one of my idles and i have to read your stupid shit about 9/11? fuck the new world order and get a new hobby

  • @TheNickmercier Go easy on him, it may just be a conspiracy theory but there is some truth behind it.

  • @necroluster666 don't abbreviate Hunter S. Thompson you goon

  • @TheNickmercier why would you reply with something so trivial? HST would spit on you

  • @TheNickmercier YES!!!

  • Reading between the lines, he took a cowards way out when the heat was turning up. Global peadophile gangs have this ability to write about abusing and killing children for fun. What exactly happened to that girl obscessed with painting Streisand in 'fear and loathing in las vegas'? The next scene is him showing up in a panic at a mental hospital, signs himself in, to get some (re)cover(y)?? I wish they had Depp do the buffalo roam movie.

So some kid says a H.Thompson took the pictures...

  • yer rude

  • He was a an old broken down warhorse who went out like a samurai...with honour and on his own terms. Most of us will never have the balls for that.

  • I hope it didn't hurt.

  • I don't think that's Tom Waits. He has a very similiar voice, but the inflections are not the same.

  • @buckleygeneration its gary busey

  • @oxish78 Yes, that sounds more likely.

  • RIP Hunter

  • tom waits narrating have to say very fitting

  • that is tom waits narrating

  • Hunter knew that it was time to end...

  • No More Bombs........ This wont hurt........

  • No More Bombs........

  • RIP

  • Is the narrator Tom Waits?

  • @Olgy13 Just checked, it's Nick Nolte.

  • Please wait for me on the other side. I wish i couldve met you here but it will have to be somewhere else.

  • I that Waits narrarating?

  • He was a great man. He died ten days after my birthday my senior year and I wept for 2 days, to think that his stock of written works will never be added to.

  • @dkshotwell Well I imagine you can think for yourself instead of joining the hive.. But yes. Yes we are.

  • @dkshotwell lmfao....Hunter will be remembered forever but you won't be remembered for anything!!! Keep that in mind.

  • @bugmusk6 "Forever"?, no, he will not be remembered forever, and as for me, and you i suspect, we will be forgotten in short order, but that won't really bother us will it as we will be dead. Keep that in mind.

  • Comment removed

  • @dkshotwell No actually we are not supposed to feel sorry for him. There's nothing to feel sorry about. He had enough, didn't feel like going on anymore, he explains that explicitly in his note. And I wouldn't say he pissed his life away when it seems he had a pretty full and exciting life. Not to mention the fact that he wrote many critically acclaimed books and is considered one of the best and pioneering writers of our time.

  • @pprtigertrap FUCKING THANK YOU! The typical brainwashed mentality of misunderstanding was getting old... He shot himself in the fucking head... Ok, cool. He made the choice and knew what he was doing, and as you pointed out, he explained it. Its like this... You buy the ticket, you take the ride, laugh and scream and cry while the cart goes up and down... But when the brakes slow it down and you can see the station, why not unbuckle and get off early, the fun part is over, so get out.

  • @pprtigertrap yeah, sure, all of this is true. But isn't it sad, that he died broken by the downfall of the country he loved yet watched slowly rot for most of his life?

  • @pprtigertrap I agree with you completly. I just wish he stuck around a little longer. he could have been a key factor on trying to get bush out of office.

  • @ngaotw123

Haha ya right ! His writings wouldn't have done a single thing to get bush outta office. And I love Thompson. he barely even scratched the surface.

I can't recall him speaking on things like the Federal Reserve and such.

  • rip hunter till that day a homage for u hunter s. thompson is there anything too miss??

  • You can turn your back on a person, but never turn your back on a drug, especially when its waving a razor sharp hunting knife in your eye.

    Hunter S. Thompson

  • It may seem insensitive to ask, but does anybody know what the music is running throughout the video?

  • @moshmachine Sounds like the music from One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest... That's my best guess.

  • @moshmachine Tom Waits.. of course.

  • @mrtruthify What Tom Waits song man? Surprised I didn't realize.

  • @moshmachine No clue.. sorry.

  • To quote Point Break, "it's not tragic dying doing something you love". Hunter S thompson died how he lived - by his own hand and his own decisions. Even death didn't get the better of him. Balls of steel, not a coward.

  • @MrForkbeard

Or in other words.. what his life really said to those with the eyes to see: I was born FREE and I died FREE, nothing more, NEVER anything less.

    My 6 pents.

  • I heard he killed himself with a shotgun.

  • this makes me sad

  • @rollingrocks37 Shit, it makes me happy. He didn't suffer and he left on his own terms. No one was mad at him for doing it, and those who knew him weren't surprised. You're sad because you cant relate. Try harder.

  • @Baxxter101 woah man im sad becuase he cant write anymore great books not becuase his own choice of taking his life i agree with you dude

  • sounds like tom waits talking? Really Nick Nolte

  • he was murdered

  • @smagmatits fuck you, no he wasn't you fucking blind Alex Jones following TOOLBAG.

  • @Baxxter101 yea because you were there and u know for sure eh hahah fuckin homo

  • When Hunter 1st took his own life there was a truly epic video on youtube! The 1st video I ever "favorited". it was called "Football Season Is Over". Its amazing!

  • anybody know what gun he used

  • @aaronamccoy what? a big one

  • @aaronamccoy

    Ak - 47

  • @aaronamccoy Smith & Wesson 645

  • @aaronamccoy .44 magnum apparently.

  • @aaronamccoy i got like 4 responses about the weapon of death, all different..does anyone know the real answer? Nevermind.

  • @aaronamccoy shotgun

  • shed a tear or burn.

  • i can barley unterstand the guy who is narrating

  • bye,you grazy gonzo diamond!

  • "Relax... This won't hurt."

  • I love you Hunter. You are amazing. I got a Gonzo fist and dagger tattooed in respect for you

  • @goldenchariottt "How many times do I have to tell you Ralph, you've got to put two thumbs on it man!"

  • nothing tops his work

  • "stay out of court rooms, but if you must go in, do not compromise, you are innocent, remember that, they are guilty."

    - Hunter S Thompson.

  • Huner was a guy that made looking, being and feeling weird look like the best damn thing you could ever become of yourself.

  • Hunter S Thompson was working on a story about the WTC and the corrupt government, they suicided him.

  • Buy the Ticket... Take the Ride.

    RIP HST.

  • RIP

  • Football season is over, no more games, no more bombs, no more walking, no more fun, no more swimming. Sixty-seven. That is seventeen years past fifty. Seventeen more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I'm always bitchy. No fun for anybody. Sixty-seven. You were getting greedy at your old age.

    Relax...

    this wont hurt...

  • Ralph Steadman said it best: "If you wonder if he's gone to Heaven or Hell, rest assured he will check out them both, find out which one Richard Milhous Nixon went to — and go there." I smile knowing Hunter is raising hell in the afterlife. He deserves it . Rest In Peace Doc.

  • i hope you're not just another child pulled into the idea of Thompson. I loved his work for years. I understand the media can advise you on what and who to love. Ultimately you arrived at the right choice. Maybe just through some seedy path. But, if we are of agreement in his talent now, who give a flying fuck. Bless you

  • Sleep in Peace, Brother.

  • Always sign certain papers in fake hand writing.

  • Ommmmmmm, bang!!!!

  • Dr Hunter S. Thompson has all my respect. RIP you lived your life as fully as you could and, I guess for as long as you could. I can understand some people want to put an end top their lives, I just can't understand why SOMEONE LIKE YOU would do such a thing. But then again I'm not judging you, it's just that I thought life itself was fullfilling enough to make you wanna go on and on... puzzling at the very least...

  • @MrTobeDamit I've got to disagree with you and everyone who doesn't understand or is in some way puzzled by his death. Too often I read comments like yours and wonder if you even heard any of the words being spoken. "Football season is over, no more games, no more bombs, no more walking, no more fun, no more swimming." Seems pretty clear to me. No mystery, he was simply DONE with being Hunter and all of the other characters people imagine him to be. He chose to let the legend take hold.

  • @Baxxter101 Of course I heard those words and I read his biography written by William McKeen. Thompson had stopped to want to be seen only as some kind of freaky character way before his death. You don't have to kill yourself to let the legend take hold. He already was a legend anyways. I think the words he wrote on his suicide rather means that he just didn't find any pleasure in life anymore. Having read about all the things he had done, living such a fullfilled life. No fun anymore for him.

  • He could hardly move by himself. I think it's pretty obvious that he just didn't think it was worth it anymore. Your way of putting it the way you want it to be is rather simplist and idealistic. This guy was feeling really miserable in the end. How can you say ''we'' got it all wrong while in fact you're amongst the people who got totally blinded by the myth that he so got to hate at some point in his life. I'm not saying I'm right but maybe you should think before saying everyone is wrong.

  • pure gonzo

  • rest in peace thomas. u are the most interesting man i ever read about,,,

    bless!

  • does anybody know if the music is taken from a song or if it is just a little guitar riff made specially for this documentary???

  • Of course Hunter S. Thompson commited "suicide". One ot the most respected and intelligent political minds in America, let alone of the counterculture and anit-establishment. Of course Thompson "killed himself", just like Gary Webb or Dr. David Kelly. Ha, ha...you all are funny thinking that you are being respectful of Hunter by not asking questions about his "suicide", Hunter was all about asking questions. ASSUME NOTHING

  • @jfarris4417 so I guess you still don't understand that Hunter lived life by his own rules and on his own terms. He died doing the same. I questioned it years ago, and after reading more of his work and learning about his life, I came to the conclusion that he did kill himself. Ralph Steadman said that Hunter used to say "I'd feel very trapped in life if I didn't know I could end it at anytime." It did not shock ANYONE who knew him well. His health was failing, he chose to end it.

  • @jfarris4417 ahhhh man. You guys who run around saying "assume nothing" crack me up, running around like you're the most open minded people on earth because you never believe the official story. Need to learn the definition and psychological function of the words "assume and question."

  • @jfarris4417 I love how you assume there is no way a man like Hunter would kill himself, then spend your whole reply making assumptions and then end it by saying "ASSUME NOTHING". Classic pseudo "open-minded" retard behavior! Being open minded means gathering, considering, and looking at evidence without a bias and then coming to a meaningful conclusion. Which you have clearly failed to do. You start with a conclusion and then looks for suitable details to support your idea. LMAO, you lose.

  • @Baxxter101 Whatever kid. Done debating with you. You don't know anything about the guys death, neither do I, so it's pointless really. I just have a real bad feeling about it, you dig. Thompsons death created a huge void in the realm of honest journalism, and how convenient it was. One thing I never believe is that the unthinkable cannot happen - that is called thinking outside the box. Boom! Fucking mind grenade right there. I win. Out.

  • joking of course. Neither of us win, no disrespect, peace.

  • @jfarris4417 word! Glad to see there are still a few people out there who respect the art of debate. No disrespect, just disagreement and difference. peace kid. :-p

  • @jfarris4417 no boom, no mind grenade, just silence, you lose. if don't believe "that the unthinkable cannot happen" you've been walking around blind. Not to mention that statement makes no sense at all. I agree about the void, and I feel the bad feeling too... But you pseudo-hippy retards who assume you live life with a divine vision and wisdom others lack piss me off. If' you're truly done debating, take care, keep going and never abandon the quest. But dont ever call me a kid ever again

  • @jfarris4417 He never meant to live past 50... he was 65. It was what he wanted. Not an act of desperation, or some kind of escape, it was what was meant to happen. The guy was waiting for an overdose that never came so he decided to quit while he was ahead.
