Dear compguy531. Marines ARE Department of the Navy. Army Rangers are NOT "higher" trained than Marines, two diffrent branches specialize in different things. i met a marine a few months ago. he said there was a special part of training where you stay in a small room full of tear gas for a time with other marines. when they got out he and the other marines were gasping for air and throwing up, he started laughing, and his instructure caught hm doing that. he asked him (with anger in his tone) bbif he wanted to do it again. he said no then was orderd to go back in there. he finnaly got used to it lauged at the puking marines and said he wanted 2stay

@reeceap92 Marines are a seperate branch of the military but at one point in time they were part of the branch of the navy. They arent just naval troops, they are operate on ground and in the air but are a major joint operating branch with the navy.

I'm 15, i plan to join the marines, like my brother who is 4 years older then me, and like 3 of my uncles, and like both my grandfathers, and like one of their fathers. BUT even with a family of marines, one of my uncles joined the navy and served on a carrier and a sub. marines are the few and the proud. we are literally the first to fight. I can't wait to be one of the proud men to dawn that uniform and say "im a marine, Oorah!"

Because I know Rangers are Special Forces and was curious if Marines were as well... I know I'll never be one, but it's good to know these boys are on our side.

@reeceap92 Marines are naval infantry, they often work with the navy but they separated them from the navy a long time ago. They basically got everything airplanes, tanks, infantry exept ships, they can be used as tip of the spear so you got a force which you can use for every situation where you're advancing. They got tanks but not nearly as much as the Army have, they got planes but not nearly as much as the airforce does. They got it all but not as much of everything.

@Soap1O Just to clear some things up, Rangers are NOT Special Forces. They are a branch off Special Operations Command. There is only one Special Forces unit in the whole entire U.S. Military and that is the "Green Berets". Navy Seals, Rangers, SOAR are all Special Operations Forces. However, just because they are not Special Forces, that does not mean they are not Bad Ass and they still are protecting America.
