Bear in mind that not all gays think and respond the same way. For every gay person belonging to some kind of organisation, there will be countless others who think "that wasn't homophobic".
Same was with Muslims, Christians, blacks and any other group. It's dangerous to start saying things like "gays think x about y", and then base your beliefs about gay people on that.
