Thanks rockerr121, I know that. I own number 21 of the first Dean Schenker Special Edition guitars. I really dig the way Dean copied his old Gibson is what I was sayin'. I think it looks badass. And btw, my Schenker Dean has the most incredible pickups I've eve heard. An absolutely SCREAMIN' guitar. Take care. Rock On!

Would have liked to have seen them play Lovedrive together, but still a lifetime experience. One of their weakest tunes. Never understood why they never played anything pre-Matthias. Great show but the theater had major issues. Drum set was stuck in the far back left of the stage. Left side fans had a larger obstruction then mentioned. And you the beer line was a fricken joke. You could miss the whole show waiting to buy a beer. Had seen them in '79 at the Chicago Fest and their last.

Awesome video. Man I wish I was there for that one. I saw MSG 2 nights earlier in L.A. and saw the guitar Michael played here, but he did not play it that night. Totally cool. @rockerr121 He sold his Gibsons on Ebay in early 2003 I think because of financial hardship,wife left with the kid and all that.Big article/interview in a guitar magazine where Michael explains it all including living in a hotel room and such.Pretty bad.Very depressing.I feel for him and pray he gets it together and that the important people in music give him a hand.I think he suffers from depression and he's a very soft,kind hearted soul that can easily be victimized.With a boat load of talent.

Expected him on Coast2Coast, but since he opened & Scorps last show, respectfully bowed out? 5th time seeing Scorps, 3rd Scenk (UFO twice sans Shenk, one with) Seeing PROUD big bro Rudy & Michael together perfect! PinkCustard, refer to Kottak's old band, your Living our of Touch. Matthias & Michael actually have similar styles, tones etc... moreso than Rudy & Michael even. Schenker is more melodic. Jabs is a killer guitarist...Schenker, a prodigy, a phenomenom. Why would one of the most professional, long lasting, kick your ass live bands keep an average guitarist for over 30 years? Your comment implies you're perhaps in love with Matthias?

@CherBake Obviously you need some glasses-" in love w/Matthias ", ? please, I don't care for men who look like girls-which he always did. Rudolf, Herman and Francis were always the best of that band. I guess you not only need glasses but a damn hearing aid as well- Matthias' "tone" is nothing like Michael's. Matthias is not a "melodic" player and anyone who knows anything about guitar palying would never classify him as such. As for Kottack he belongs a w/Motley Crue type band not Scorps.

man i think you are wrong.jabs is a melodic player.if you search in songs of scorps u will see that is melodic player nad a bit schreder.he has very good techical skill and his vibrato is just amazing.very few lpayers achieve such vibrato.michael in his solo carier.he doesnt play fast and his live solo is a bit without melody.

All I know, is the "direction" the Scorpions took on Lovedrive is what set their course. Uli's sty;e was replace with the title song, Loving you Sunday morning, Another Piece of Meat, Coast to Coast.....Michaels sound was prevalent in those songs. Did Mattias develop HIS style or did he emulate what Michael brought to the table? But Michael has NEVER written lyrics. He's written musical masterpieces.

I like all 3 of them. Matthias, Michael and Uli are different beasts and the Scorps are great with all 3. What I find amazing is how, despite the changes that came along with their lead players, the scorps have always been so damn good

@hans807 Matthias already had been developing his own style before Scorpions. He improved on it and Scorps liked it and it became the signature style of the band by the time they hit America and thus made it big!!

Michael = virtuoso. Mattias = good lead guitar player and stable. jennyjenny is right on in why it didn't sound the same, but I don't know how anyone missed the intense vibe that happened when Michael joined in on Another Piece of Meat. I've seen the both do the song separately and this was by far the best performance of that song. Lovedrive would have been cool and why not on Coast to Coast? Lucky to live in Chitown having seen the Navy Pier show in 1979 and now this!! Awesome.

Sorry, but I don't know what you are talking about. Michael has written lots of classics like Rock Bottom, Doctor Doctor, Armed and Ready or Lost Horizons. Jabs on the other hand stuff like Tease me please or Nightmare Avenue. There is no shame in defending Matthias, he is a solid player, but please stick to the facts.

Dont get me wrong, Michael is my favorite guitar player ever. But if you look at songs matthias has worked on and the entire directions the Scorps took with Matthias in the band. These guys are both collaborative writers when we area talking about vocal/lyric driven tunes. I would contend that Mathias' record shows far better songs. Most of Michael's best songs came when he was working in UFO with Moog and the other guys.

Impartially,

MSG did not sound as good as Scorpions as they used 1/3 the PA and a separate smaller mixing board.

Singer Gary Barden lost his voice long ago which is not his fault but Carmine Appice on drums was painful to suffer through. Too apparent he has not worked on his chops for years now.

The scorpions were fantastic, Pro and perfect in performance.

More fun than Cheesy THNK GOD.

Also, it's well known that MJ came in when Scorps needed him the most, when Michael flaked out, and was chosen out of 140 guitar players. He put the boys on the 80's map with his unique style.

Comparing the two is inane tho, they have diff styles. BUT, who has been the 3rd Scorpion for 32 years? Consistent and alway going on without fail regardless of injury or illness. AND always sober I might add.

But we all have our own opinions and fighting on here is ridiculous.

Palmster, if you knew anything at all about MSG, you would know that the singer was Gary Barden. He was Schenker's original singer 30 years ago. They have been reunited the last couple of years. And comparing Schenker to Jabs, please. No comparison. Schenker is legendary. He has influenced more guitar players than can be listed here, including Jabs.

EUguitarRULE, EVH is perhaps only other most unreliable volatile guitar god on the planet other than Michael Schenker. One never knows which persona will show up and if they can even play. Jabs was protecting the Scorpions Brand from a possible debacle and did it as best he could. No doubt before Michael went on he knew something. Jabs has proven for over 20 years he is much better than even a straight Michael Schenker. Look at 3:07, Michael Schenker forgets he's now got lead and stops!
