Ok, You just saved my ass, the HD on my 1501 just went kaput today and I had no idea how to open it... and certainly the manual on the ASUS web didn't help :(
Ug, what an awful motherboard and case layout. Leave the case off permanently to keep it cool. I take the cases and sidepanels off all my equipment to keep them cool; you have to. If you don't they will overheat and hang. When will manufactuers learn, everybody does not run their equipment in an air conditioned 70 degree office. A lot of stuff gets installed in the field, or places where there is no temperature control at all. Some of my wifi repeaters are even installed outside.
@GBJ83 i dont know where your from dude but it is not sha-see its cha-see and after working in the field for 32 years im confident in saying that static discharge is never, and will never be a threat for any electronics unless your purposefully rubbing your feet on the ground then shorting yourself on the electronic, ive never worn a grounding bracelet or anything and ive never had anything short or even come close
Before trying to correct pronunciation you should perhaps do a little research, I did and found this "There are a few pronunciations for ‘chassis’.
*‘Chassis’ can be pronounced as ‘CHAS-see’, ‘CHAS-sis’, or ‘SHAS-see’. All with the stress on the first syllable.*
Many words have multiple pronunciations. I do notice more pronounce chassis the SH way (as I do) but the CH way (as spoken here) is not actually incorrect.
@GBJ83 in the 10 years i took computers apart ive never ever warn static protective gear and never broke anything , touch a radiator first and dont run socks on carpet
You can't access the DVD drive without taking the whole thing apart and that involves pulling apart the whole thing. It appears to be a slim type drive.

Does the VGA and the HDMI video ports work at the same time? So I can watch video from the HDMI and compute on a regular data display simultaneously?

looking at your disassembly I was hoping to see the slot type DVD drive to see if I could replace it with a Blue Ray device.

Is the optical drive a standard slot-loading slimline laptop drive?
I'm considering changing the DVD drive in mine for a Blu-Ray drive in the future.

@B0YTITI Yes but playback isn't 100%. You'll need Flash 10.1 beta drivers and the latest Nvidia ION drivers.
