  • 49 people did marriage proposals and rejected by Cindy because of Santana.

  • That's why Roland Drums rule - I got so tired of the dong sound of toms, then u have to keep muffling them and tuning them and replacing skins, the list goes on. Now i go to prac or a gig and jut plug in and whoa!!! - pro sounding studio quality!!! I'll never go back to the bang crash smash - not to mention going deaf - - ask carmine appice.

  • You also have to keep in mind that for 1/2 of the video, she's tuning her kit while she's soloing.

  • although the solo seems boring but we have to admit that she is good..

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING

  • Always the same with this girl. So boring, so repetitive, so monotonous. I would love to see a video where she slows down and shows some talent. Speed is easy, groove and flow is imo much nicer.

  • @DarrenNLZC watch benny greb!

  • @DrummerZful I know right!? See now that's much more pleasant. I'm with you man, if only this choppy girl who seems to only know how to repetitively hit her snare and toms as fast as and loud as possible would just watch a Benny Greb video, maybe she would change it up for once. I bet her band would love her for it. I'm glad someone on her understands!

  • Very boring... I love Cindy but a waste of 10 min. She was just playing the same stuff you hear every drummer attempting a solo play. Fast single strokes and minor variations of patterns w the snares off to give it a more ethnic feel. Been done so many times. I would of rather heard her play grooves for 10 min instead of this.

  • boring...

  • drumming is not about artistic and competition ... thats why i never will like that Jazz, pop, classic, heavy metal, gangta rap .. give her a James Bond .. then she maybe will be quiet

  • that's some fucked up afro

  • 7:26 she really catches my eye and ears now

  • Cindy Is Aweesome!

  • sometimes its a ......... one of these days I'm gonna cut you into little pieces, you're play is like a fight against ego, you wanna ^&%$&^%$ instruments.......... knowing you never gonna win this way ................ but doing it in the best way, on drums !!! Thanks Cindy Blackman, loving it.

  • The 50 best rock-drummers in the journal Classic Rock

  • What a weird kitchen...

  • I don't know about you folks, but I enjoyed that!

  • 39 people seems to play better than Cindy Blackman.!! would love to see them playing a f@#%&# drum set.!

  • You are assholes

  • Carlos must've been high as a kite when he met her.

  • Crackhead drumming at its finest.

  • @riceman2001 imagine all the crack she could buy with the fat cheque that came with this performance

  • Is she the drummer of Lenny Crapitz??

  • this is SUPERB... you haters must be smoking crack

  • She looks like my boss

  • You all mad? Of course she can play the drums, she's black!

  • Cindy is phenomenal and you idiots obviously don't know music. It's not about a groove, it's a SOLO, duh??? Lastly, nobody is Tony and I don't think she's trying to be. He was one of her mentors so of course she knows a lot of his techniques!

  • ITS A FUCKING SOLO!!!! Sometimes groove doesn't exist people. Its cindy blackman too so yall should probably shut the fuck up.

  • Better than Tony Williams my ass!

  • This girl is by far more more talented than me with loads more technical ability than I will ever have but to be honest this video clip is very boreing after a short while and just loads of racket around the kit. Give me some good grooves and driving beats already sweet heart that I no you will be able to do

  • To play jazz must have class? She is amazing, it has the grip rock'n'roll. All musicians need it, even to play jazz! This aggressiveness is pure expression! Tony said:''I want to hear the sound of my drums with clarity, so I play strong, very strong!''

  • pure noise.

  • @bangbetter dude i just watched some of your vids you have no room to talk. Free form soloing and improvisation is as old as music itself dude.

  • The only crap I see is hitting the pots as fast as possible, no ideas, no musicality, no accents, nothing! Not 5% of Louie Bellson, Billy Cobham, Charly Antolini and all the other giants of entertaining drumming. Disappointing noise.

  • I like cindys playing but she seems very aggressive for a jazz player

  • check out Terri Lyne Carrington ...now there's one class act ! '-)

  • she is wrong. this sound is of a begginer.

  • Damn, she was tuning during her set, I've never seen that as part of a solo

  • @FoolyCoolyINC I think it's a good performance, And yes all drummers have done that on stage one time or an other. Even me, I do it all the time. I don't give a fuck...

  • Take into account she's likely playing for a handful of knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing, Dream Theater T-shirt wearing assholes, assuming any of them took a piss break from jacking off outside Bozzio's door to check out "that hot chick from that Lenny Kravitz video." That whole solo was mostly "fuck you."

  • @iowanchef Thank you!

  • @iowanchef funniest comment i have ever seen LOL

  • @iowanchef dont hate where's your video?

  • @dclarkboi1 I've got a whole channel of them. Click away. Not sure what your definition of "hating" is exactly, but I'm pretty sure that's not what I was doing..

  • the kit sounds awesome, warm vintage sound, i especially like the bass drum- anyone who disagrees, go put on your limp bizkit greatest hits album, i'm sure you'll love the sound of those drums

  • shes making does drums sing

  • She is amazing, is really hard tune the jazz bass drums, and that sound is natural.

  • The audio isn't recorded direct (so it sounds) it's the camera that's usually the culprit for the bad audio.

  • i guess ,, shes only showing her hands and feet skills ,,

  • what a fuck is that???????? what is playing ????? that set souns like crap!!!!

  • Cmon guys.... She has INCREDIBLE chops, give her that. Also, she is changing the pitch of her snare drum the same time as she is soloing with all the other limbs of her body, which is really impressive. I agree it can be a little more musical, but skill and chops where really displayed in this solo.

  • Boy !! I mean it is what it is. She is demonstrating her perfection of her craft, her expression. I have heard her in other situations and this is yet another vibe she was feeling. Sometimes you just need to let it come out. I also love to hear things from a woman's perspective. Also, 80,000 hits !!

  • it would make more sense if her name was cindy blackwoman

  • cb drums?

  • i not like, don't have music

  • santana married a black magic woman drummer

  • this is art

  • vinnie rip off much

  • People who bag on Cindy or on this solo are CLUELESS...just lettin' your ignorance display itself in all its glory. Cindy is an artist, not a crowd-pleasing gimmicky showboat. Despite her resume, she is not a pop drummer. People who can't dig this probably don't dig any type of abstract or non-objective art...probably think that for a painting to be "good" it has to look like a photograph.

  • does any one else have the weirdest boner right now?

  • I was at Santanas concert live yesterday, she came up and had a 8 min drum solo blew my mind away. Carlos wife.

  • This is the most obnoxious solo in history. Why didn't she check her Blackberry with one hand while she was at it. If she were a dude, she'd be playing at the local Holiday Inn.

  • This is currently the single most impressive drum solo I have EVER seen a woman play in my life. Definitely amazing.

  • Actually... Yes, I am. Have a nice life brother.

  • Geebus!! Imagine the handjob that girl could give you!!!

  • What a gifted drummer. I think that the fact she's a woman is a turn on .

  • a passionate, consumate musician....a phenomenal drummer. Cindy is blazing!

  • She is extremely talented and what is more amazing is she is over fifty years old.

  • As I said smokestack313, I'm not a drummer. I think you noticed it. Thanks for the correction, by the way. I'm not an expert and I just expressed my opinion. Now, talking about corrections, if you want to compare me with the "pathetic parent who yells at the ref", you should've written: "you're" instead of "your". I could not know about drumming or the parts of one but, at least my friend, I know how to spell correctly. Isn't it pathetic?. Peace!!!

  • I'm not a drummer and I will never be. IMHO... This is awful. No groove at all, a total lack of technique, noise at it's maximum expession, just horrible. Did you guys hear how many times she stroke the drumsticks against each other and against the rings?. Fame is not equal to talent... and she is REAAAAALLY FAMOUS!!!. With all do respect, she sucks!!!

  • @josemejiazzz know your shit. the "rings" your talking about are actually rims, and its used by every drummer out there. your like the pathetic parent who yells at the ref during sporting events when you have no idea how to play the sport

  • @josemejiazzz you are an absolute idiot...

  • very expressive. nothing wrong with this solo at all, this is her take/spin and what shes feeling at the moment in time.

  • i love how she is just going for it mistakes and all. so musical and so tony influenced.

    fantastic!

  • Im digging this Cindy!

  • She's good, but she can't solo worth shit.

  • @bubbasock Who do think can solo good????? I think this is awesome!!!! Seriously, who do you like for soloing if you think this is "SHIT" You see nothing good at all in this solo????? Nothing??????

  • @jazdrum68 Jeez man, chill out. Don't get an aneurysm

  • only drummers should say their opinion because other musicians don't understand what drum solos are or what drummers are doing

  • my boredom briefly stopped at 2.20 but quickly came back unfortunately. was kind of hoping for something more interesting if i'm honest.

  • im stealing this for college auditions haha

  • Well...I will never be able to pley this but it still bores me. Although she is really cute.

  • yeah... i dunno....

  • where is the groove?

  • @drum6banger exactly what I thought no soul at all

  • @drum6banger Where's the band for her to groove with? This is a clinic style setting, in which technical ability is showcased rather than feel or grooving ability.

  • @Renshaw28 you dont need a band do lay down a groove. A songo is a groove and you play it completely by yourself with out a band. she at no point just laid back and played something musical

  • Just shit, plain and simple. She's no drummer!!

    Maybe she can cook though....

  • @ltkindermann Sexist pig

  • @HighDrummer1 There are probably hundreds of male drummers out there no body will ever hear of. She's of note only because she's female and looks a particular way...oh and because Santana is sleeping with her.

  • @ltkindermann where the hell is YOUR drum video? Put your money where your idiot mouth is and post a better video of you drumming than Cindy. If not SHUT UP!

  • @Pug40 Oh I see. So now I need to be a drummer to express an opinion? Jesus Christ if that's the best you can do then don't bother.

  • @ltkindermann It helps to know what the hell your talking about

  • @ltkindermann They're married now.

  • @ltkindermann stop trolling... and i hope you die...

  • cindy blackman is a personal friend of mine, she is a really awesome person!!! and gives good advice, im going to her wedding when she marries carlos santana this year in las vegas, congrats cindy once again!!

  • @osceolaboy1 that is probably the coolest thing i have ever heard!!!! oh wait...no its not...

  • @drum6banger suck a fat one :D

  • @osceolaboy1 now that is just...hurtful! your right though...im wrong...this is definitely amazing...there is so much feel and groove! and she demonstrates so well how she is able to keep time while playi....oh wait! its none of the above!

  • ruim

  • She is nothing like Tony. Not even close. She is good but man that set sounds like crap!!!! I waiting to hear some solid groove but it never came. I have heard better solos from her. but this sounds like kids banging on crap. she is better than that tho and i know it.

  • @startnova25 u just a prick cuz she could beat ur wackk ass into oblivion. sto hatin. Prick

  • @startnova25 u just a prick cuz she could beat ur wackk ass into oblivion. stop hatin. Prick

  • @startnova25 To the point you made about the kit sounding like crap. First of all, I think she wants to go for a more vintage jazz sounding set, and this set achieves that gold one and a half times. Second of all, the snare and toms, especially the high mounted one, sound good, if not more. Now, I could agree with you on the bass drum, but again, that is just for the vintage jazz sound that she is trying to achieve.

  • @startnova25 Cmon the set doesnt sound like crap! Its just tuned for jazz

  • @Metalliquer so its sound like shit.. its sounds crap it is crap and drums should necer sound like that. jazz is just overrated dandy shit!

  • @kalidoresdan ......she'll probably smoke you like a pack of kools you play jazz? hmm prolly not ...imtimidating aint it? lmfao

    p.s. where's your video?

  • @kalidoresdan for me it sounds awesome! That kit sings! And jazz will never be overrated! Respect other styles.

  • @startnova25 dude that set sounds very organic and jazzy! and drum solos are about jamming, having fun and kicking some ass not about playing solid grooves, come on! that was damn great!

  • @startnova25 She definitely approached solo drumset like Tony did. Check out the video from Zildjian day. Cindy definitely spent a lot of time studying Tony, and I although the recording quality of the video is piss poor and the drums are definitely fucked up (she's tuning them for half of the video) she's a great player. Not every drum solo needs to develop into a groove.

  • She's no Terry Lynn Carrington. If you waht to see a great drumer that just happens to be a women then check Terry Lynn.

  • MvyMkr.. Jazz changes rhythms, time signatures, tempos, timbres at will. I Repeat: It's a musical expression that isn't subject to your tiny concept of musicality. A Jazz solo is an expresssion from deep within played for individuals who in turn understand that they have just heard individual expression. Keeping time matters not. Feel like I am discussing the very nature of musicality with a musical redneck. "Summichun..that there drummin jist ain't raaaght! Buford and them agree also"

  • Wow, one of the best solo's I've ever seen. I'm a dude, but I think all women should watch this....if I was a chick I would be empowered by this

  • shes wicked on the drums man.....

  • no esta chido no to k n bn

  • Williams? LOL True

  • there is no right and wrong in music

  • kickin kickin....

  • his drumset souds like shit.

  • So like, I appreciate how technically excellent she is - her singles are incredibly controlled and triplets on the right foot = uber impressive...

But there was absolutely nothing musical in that, and the drums are an instrument. They are to be played first and foremost as time-keepers (and there was no time to that solo!) and then as part of a musical art form, and there was nothing there but fast hand and footwork and a lot of crashing and banging about...

  • @MvyMkr

You haven't arrived at the level of musical sensibility that it takes to understand this musician. Just keep playing, take more lessons, continue lestening to different genre's of music and keep your pie hole shut. You may some day arrive but not this day. Today you're stinkin' up the place.

  • @Dodjuh1001 Just because I don't like her style of playing here doesn't mean I don't have the musical knowledge to understand good playing...for the past year I've been blown away by my tutors like Pete Riley. His musicality is hugely apparent in whatever he does - he can do all this stuff and ridiculous independence, but it comes out in this fundamentally musical way.

  • @MvyMkr maybe I was impecise regarding my fundamental issue with your remarks. Can we at least agree that musicality isn't confined to your personal concept of it! Now let's take that concept one step further by proposing that when you say something positive about an artist's life work leave it at that. Why embarass yourself, the artist and others with your negative opinions that only represent your personal musical concept however large or small?

  • @Dodjuh1001 I think most drummers I spoke to, and most teachers at my college would agree there is a lack of "musicality" in the overindulgent use of nothing but rudiments in a drum solo. To me, and I'm guessing many drummers, "technicality" and "musicality" are not the same thing at all. It is also the drummers no.1 concern to keep time, which she most certainly did not here.

As one of my teachers once said, "musician first, drummer second," there is no flow to this, no real "music"

  • Just shit. Where is the message? Fucked up sound too.

  • @Truthman25 she was only tuning the drum.if you did't understand,you're stupid.

  • @NiggaWhatChannel ..You nut! I was talking about her solo going wild without any message. You now need some tuning in your head.

Due to a good lashing I gave him not long ago, he removes everything from his Youtube page. Too bad Google has recorded everything he did and he can't take them all back. One fine day, somebody or somebodies who can give him a big break in life is going to find out about him and realize his monstrous deed when they google for him. Let's see by then whether he realize the follies of his youth - revelling in tearing people down! Check out how he tear my associates down at my page

  • awesome to see her maintain the creativity while playing one handed and tuning the drums... a real entertainer! oh and neishhh, grow up, it's 2010, and about time those ancient ignorant ideas get left back in the past where they belong.

  • overrrated...

  • Holy shit!, So borring, I prefer Santana in the guitar.

    Cindy: ¡¡¡Do the WASHING UP!!!

    Just joking.

    PD: Listen Vinnie Colaiuta.

  • sure, shes fast, and im sure can play very well

but i really really really do not like this drumming style at all

it kinda makes the drums sound like someone is spazzimg out on random pots and pans

doesn't sound like an instrument much =\

  • fuck that stupid racist piece of shit (neishhh) he just wishes he could do what she does. he probably bangs his sister.

  • This whole solo reeks of Tony Williams, and i love it.

  • cool

  • there is no perfect tune to a drumset, drums are to reach different notes to create a unique profile to you and your drums

  • of course shes a fantastic technical drummer and what not...IMO it just didn't feel that tasty.

  • she sucks soloing and her tuning.. CRAP!

  • @sama12ska that's very constructive -.-

  • Cindy ......beautifull.....inspiration....GOD bless you....

  • Cindy........................Your fantastic,

  • dude her bass sounds like shit bro

  • @willshiznit86 I think it sounds good. What are you talking about?1

  • @willshiznit86 you mean it sounds like a drum and not a triggered click?...

  • @louisalive nope, i mean it resonates too much for my likeing.

  • @willshiznit86 that's fair enough, but it sounds fine to me, trust, the resonance is lost in a band situation.

  • So fast on the hands it's incredible, but i would like to see her use her feet more

  • kim thompson is still my fav.

  • na, benny gerb way better!!

  • i love u Cindy, love u so much :D

  • all this was born with John Bonham!

  • I love the fact that she knows how to tune a drum. most idiots can't tune their drums if their life depended on it. Then you see these guys get all upset because she can play better than they can so they so she isn't musical. drums are the first instrument.

  • @flammaster In fact the first instrument that been discovered was a flute. These information can be seen inside Solfege for dummies! Solfege is french term to say music notation.

  • @flammaster I am one of those idiots :-/

  • @flammaster This was really hard to watch. One of the worst performances I have ever witnessed. I expected a LOT better from her.

  • I'd do her lol

  • @winnerbaby44 - however, she wouldn't do you. it's called discernment, scumbag

  • @ecoflame why dont you go fuck yourself motherfucker?

if your gay thats not my problem..

take that dildo outta yo ass.. its clearly bothering you by now.

  • she is so tony??? Are u fuckin`brainless??? fuckin xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Why is she tuning while she is playing? Is she showing off, or did she not have time before hand? Very distracting to watch.

  • Isn't showing off the purpose of a drum solo?? :) But still I like to watch it:) even as a guitar player... :)

  • @ClarkKasheta because she didnt like the feel of the snare

!!! why else would she do that do you even play the drums?!

  • @ClarkKasheta - Is that a serious question? When would you otherwise tune an instrument? How many musicians KNOW how to tune the instrument(s) they play?

  • @ecoflame In all of my years of playing public venues, I have never felt the need to tune WHILE I was playing. There is plenty of time before a gig, or between songs.

  • @ClarkKasheta Billy Cobham does this too; the drums sound different when the empty room becomes a packed house. Also they both hit hard. There is no 'between songs'. Cindy walks in, straight to the drums, and plays for an hour.

Try NOT to be distracted so easily and focus on what makes the masters great. With some hard work maybe you can play with somebody like Lenny Kravitz or Joe Henderson. That would be much more respectable occupation than an 'instructor' that nobody has ever heard of.

  • Cindy loves Tony that for sure great playing bravo!!!

  • She's so Tony...

  • @derefis yeah, ever since i heard tony, i started noticing that about almost all of my favorite drummers. he was a pioneer

  • people lose is spelled with one o. I don't know how one would loose a drum match

  • brah you know what i challenge you to a drum off my name is jakhari im 13 and i wanna make it official that you loose a drum match

  • cindy my goddess!!!
