  • So can we still have bread as long as it doesn't have wheat in it?

  • @kataisa3 No, bread as a whole is absolutely and completely different than what it was. Simply put, We are not eating the backbone of the agricultural revolution. We are eating its Frankenstein's monster.

  • @kataisa3 Sure...but that means you'll have to make it with something else, like almond flour, coconut flour, pumpkin flour and etc. which can be quite expensive.

  • So is saying that Kamut, Spelt is the same as white bread? or Wheat Germ? When he says there is not that much difference, is he saying this grains cause the same sugar spike as white bread? If so that's pretty unexpected and I would love more information that proves this. In his glossary for his book he doesn't mention these grains even once. Can anybody clarify?

  • Total BS! I've never met anyone who gained 30 pounds from eating a whole foods plant based diet. How much is the meat industry paying you to spew BS?

  • @ChaosKids512 You have Obviously never read the book or tried its premise I have been trying to lose weight for the last 12 years, with "Healthy" whole foods and a shit ton of exercise with no results. I cut out all wheat and most carbs and I effortlessly lost 50 pounds since March. Fucking read and research something before you spew ignorance about something you have no idea about. The shit you think is "Wheat" today didn't even exist 50 years ago,

  • @ChaosKids512 Total BS my ass.

  • Naw.... I eat a shit ton of wheat and Im not fat. I guess people who are inactive or have issues with their blood sugar levels should lay off the wheat.

  • @shurdawg and that's good for you, you haven't read the book or know what the case and clinical trials have shown. "Wheat" affects people differently over a period of time, if you have no issues eating a bagel or sandwich, keep it up hopefully you are one of the small percentage of people who have no outward issues with Gluten or Ameliopectin A in your system. But don't count on it.

  • @41Slinger Yeah, Ill stick to my wheat, my parents and grand parents have done so for centuries, none of the were fat over weight or suffered from any side effects.

  • @shurdawg problem is that the wheat you can get nowadays is not the same wheat that your grandparents ate. Since the 1950's the hybrid semi-dwarf wheat has become the main crop, and since the 1970's (pretty much when the obesity boom started) has dominated wheat production.

  • It's important, Bill, to add the focus of milk and casein allergenic activity to your scorecard. So many who fail a careful withdrawal from wheat remain casein sensitive and most of the folks I see have a problem with the New Jersey Food Trifecta in this order: 1.Milk, 2. Eggs, and 3.Wheat.- have been looking at gluten for years and found this unexpected relationship.

  • I progressively became gluten intolerant, wanna know why. It's because all this crap we eat is mass produced and genetically modified in North America. I heard a story of some celiac that traveled to France, she ate a piece of bread and was fine. The wheat/barley companies don't care about your health they care about how much money they make. Because of them I can't drink fucking beer any more.

  • @klutz94306 Bud is mostly made from corn, as is Miller, Coors and Keystone... they still give you a reaction? Here's a business idea- gluten free beer. We'd be billionaires. It sounds like an oxy-moron, but so does Tofurkey.

  • @cloud9846 Beer = soft dick..Alcohol is one of the main culprit of limp-dick syndrome, and alcohol dehydrates the body in a massive way...reason enough, I would say stay far away from all alcohol and have more sex instate...much much better :-)

  • @NuclearNympho I drink heaps of beer and have no problems except I can't get enough (I don't mean beer) LOL

  • Anyone trying to lose weight buy this book.

  • ALL of our foods have been genetically changed like the wheat but this wheat thing is bad. When my mom first got this book i was a little iffy about it. But she's read it and stopped eating wheat. In 2 weeks she lost 10 pounds. My mom is a diabetic. I, however, am not a diabetic and have taken myself only partially off wheat products and in 2 weeks I lost 5 pounds. We've not changed our diets in any other way besides taking the wheat out. This is the real deal. Read the book.

  • it's true it's all bread, bread is sugar

  • No shit you'd become diabetic with a low fat, low protein, high carb diet. Is this guy serious? Anybody ever heard the word "moderation"? I get so irritated with these quack "doctors" that claim to have the cure-all for losing weight. Just about every shredded person I know eats a generous amount of grains, but they know how to balance them with proteins and fats as well, which slows digestion of carbs thus lowering blood sugar. If you just load up on carbs, your blood sugar spikes and so does

  • @TheBigSleep41 I know lots of smokers that don't have lung cancer. Would you recommend smoking in moderation? Just because you know fit people that eat grains doesn't mean it won't have adverse effects on their health at some point down the line.

  • Okay so what I want to know...How am I suppose to make a sandwich?

  • If history has taught us anything it is that sometimes the most innocent looking substances - substances that even are touted as beneficial - are sometimes the most harmful substances for us. Wheat, along with other carbs which our government and medical authorities have been advocating we eat lots of, is a food version of a Trojan horse. I am so glad that professionals, like Dr. William Davis, are dismantling this deleterious myth, which has caused so many problems.

  • This is rubbish. They haven't been genetically modifying food for forty years, the technology is barely twenty years old. Prior to that they had to resort to cross-breeding, a perfectly natural process that humans have been using to their advantage for millennia.

There are a lot of misconceptions out there about what food we should it. This is simply one more for the garbage pile.

  • @bernygagne Dr Davis never states that the wheat is genetically modified - read the book! He states it is from hybrids which have been changing for over 50 years. Get your facts straight before making comments like this.

  • @Scottygirlnz - If you look around you can find Red Fife Wheat, which is a heritage grain, basically the same since it was introduced in Canada in the 1840's from Scotland. This is a non-hybrid form of wheat, so shouldn't it be okay?

  • @Toa41587 Dr. Davis gives a GREAT wrap recipe using ground flaxseed in the book! Had it for lunch today with mayo, mustard, chicken breast, tomato and greens - tasted like I paid $8 for it and it is lasting all afternoon. Don't even ask how long since I ate mayo with NO guilt ;) I also found a carrot cake recipe on his trackyourplaque blog post that uses coconut flour. So there are alternatives out there! Only a week into it and feel so much better (also losing weight steadily)

  • Eat Sugar, Saturated fats, Fruits, eggs, dairy, reduce stress, Avoid Grains!! dr.Ray Peat

  • Ridiculous? Are you a scientist? Do know anything about the metabolic process of the human body? The body dosen't differentiate between whole grain or any grain for that matter - it sees it as sugar basically, it's just wearing different clothes!

  • Really? This is ridiculous. Yah the flour in twinkies is the same thing in whole grain bread. No, it's not actually. I should make a video. I eat 4 slices of whole grain bread a day and have about 8% body fat. Humans were cultivating wheat in 9500 B.C. and we've been doing it ever since. I'm sure they were using the whole grain too. When this guys got diabetes he wasn't eating a balanced diet, of course it throws your body out of whack.

  • @Cantstoprunning99 a year ago I would have agreed with you. I've lost 55lbs by cutting this crap out of ny diet, so I can't deny what this guy is saying. Read the book.

  • lol. this is ridiculous. You cant sustain a lifestlye of eating no grains.

  • You should just avoid any form of grains, they are all high in carbohydrates which is not good among all the other things wrong with them. Check out the Paleo and Primal diets for more info on healthy eating and alternatives

  • ok, then what do you suggest? brown rice, quinoa, ????

  • @linmira None. Man by nature is NOT a grain eater.

  • Even brown rice and wheat pastas are bad? what about oats ?

  • I agree with this 100%. I tell all of my clients to avoid Wheat in all forms by any means necessary.
