Would'nt It Be Nice .. one of Brian's all-time best-ever creations .. out of a horde of prime contenders. It had everything going for it .. a touch of overhang from Calif. Girls in underlying style. But a different genre again, a more up-beat rhythm / beat, & a few notches further up the scale again, in pure sophistication. Be it the pure backing track only, OR the complete finally-version song, OR EVEN the out-take versions .. this song has an unbeatable universal appeal .. Won't ever die !!
This is the stereo version of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" heard in mono (because it's on YouTube). You can tell, because Brian is singing the bridge instead of Mike.
The USof A has brought out some of the greatest musicians EVER and i am one grateful Englishman and if i may pay a respect to the Beachboys i would like to say they have english in them like the Beatles or Like the Stones, or The Who........... they have that exceptional twist to music in being adventurous and artistic and lastly imaginitive. I personally thank the Beachboys for sounds only parrallelled by the greatest composers ever.
when the beach boys first happened in england there were blokes carrying surfbouards in soho paradoxicly an american group called the blokes made one 45 called american girls
Right back at ya', rebelarouser. You Brits were years ahead of us in recognizing the genius of "Pet Sounds." And you continue to produce artists with the same great ear for melody that Brian had.
I've always thought of 'Hang on to your ego' (otherwise recorded as 'I know there's an answer') as The Beach Boys' attempt to combine the swagger of The Rolling Stones with their own style- it's a great song.
Brian's vocal beats Mike's any day on this song, he brings it alive with feeling and emotion, were as MIke sings it in a flat and lifeless way.I adore the sax on this song- groovy!!
Brian singing bridge of Wouldn't it be nice really makes it more soft and warm than Mike does.
Brian's voice seems flying or floating... So wonderful!

That must be it then, really great sound and perks the song up especially after Mikes flat vocals.
