The USA attempted to pass an amendment in 1861 to protect slavery in all states forever. The south refused as it felt that slavery would not be safe in the union.

OK SO YOUR TELLING ME..... ABOUT AN AMENDMENT THAT THE MAJORITY OF SOUTHRON STATES DID NOT EVEN VOTE ON IN SOME WAY REFLECTS THE SOUTHS "OPINION" OR "TRUST" OF THE UNION......

THE CORWIN AMENDMENT WAS LITTLE MORE THAN A LAST DITCH EFFORT TO KEEP THE SOUTH IN THE UNION AND KEEP THEY MONEY THEY WERE MAKING FOR THE NORTH.....

It shows the south wouldn't even stay in the union even if the USA protected its slavery forever. Southerns felt that a union of slave states would be the best way to preserve it. That is what the CSA was.

An 1862 recruitment poster urged Virginians to enlist in the Confederate Army, and "fight the abolition foe"...no mention of tariffs, states rights, or what not. Virginia's official reason was an act of total hypocrisy...they had no problem with supporting Jeff Davis' subjugation of East Tennessee, or the New Mexico Campaign.

BTW...The ANV engaged in the deliberate round up of free Blacks in PA, and MD, during their occupation.

He was a Savannah born, and Charleston bred Southerner, from a modest background. He moved west to CA, and did not want to see the evils of the plantation economy forced on the West, by Southern politicians, using the power of the Federal Government...John C. Fremont.

Respond to this video... The war was fought over the South's right to interfere in the affairs of Northern, and Western states and territories, over the issue of slavery...not slavery as it existed in the South, at the time.

As far as "attacking the South" goes...Virginia had no problem with the firing on Ft. Sumter...more hypocrisy.

Don't try and give me the sob story about SC being forced to fire. Davis was already scheming to use Border States as a flash point for war.

You support the CSA...you support the racialist regime that it wanted to create. They are intertwined. This politically correct view of the war, that is popular in the South, is being challenged most effectively by Southern historians like David Williams and Victoria Bynum.

While I do agree with you on most of your topics I do however disagree about the Confederates wanting slavery. You see, the majority of the southerners were poor because of the taxation which you mentioned in your video and this caused most of the southern population to be poor theirfore, only 26% of the southerners which were rich plantation owners actually had slaves. If the south wanted anything they wanted to be a free and independent nation. Deo Vindice!!!
