@stydel311 They weren't true Grand Nationals. There might have been one, but the rest were actually V8 cars. In some scenes, you can here the throaty exhaust of the V8. I saw they scored 2 factory 4-speed Gran Torinos and destroyed 3 of four cars they had built. Not sure exactly how rare a factory 4-speed Torino is, but I'd rather see a Ford get totaled than a true GN get totaled.
GrandNational GNX: was underated and actually had 330hp and 420ft/lb trq. 0-60 4.7-5secs with qrtml 13-13.2 102mph. The 1987 GNX blew everthing off the road. Not so much of a track car as an 87 vette could still out lap it but in the straight line it destroyed all.
@BEBNC1 That's just 'cause it was a luxury car: mushy springs, wobbly frame, high center of gravity, etc... I'm sure they knew that it wasn't the best car for cornering when they engineered the thing, so they may as well build it for the 1320.

No 281twl - GNs are NOT FWD, they are the same basic platform as the 80s Monte Carlo/Cutlass/Grand Prix. The last Buick built with a Buick engine on a RWD platform. The end of an era :( lrose- ^5... GNs were indeed automatics from the factory, however some morons have been known to convert to manuals and actually kill the performance.... turbo lag is minimized with an automatic.... And for the uninformed... you CAN manually shift an automatic, that is why your shifter goes P RND321...

I fucking HATED the scene with the gas truck. Why can't they do something that is at least somewhat plausible. It was fake as hell when the tow trucks jacked the trailers but when that fucking tanker flew over vin diesel's head I felt like leaving the theatre.
Now you can say that that's what the franchise is all about, but I think the truck robberies in the 1st movie is as far as they should take it.
The camaro jumping onto the yacht in the 2nd one was arguably even worse than this scene.

GrandNational GNX: was underated and actually had 330hp and 420ft/lb trq. 0-60 4.7-5secs with qrtml 13-13.2 102mph. The 1987 GNX blew everthing off the road. Not so much of a track car as an 87 vette could still out lap it but in the straight line it destroyed all.

No 281twl - GNs are NOT FWD, they are the same basic platform as the 80s Monte Carlo/Cutlass/Grand Prix. The last Buick built with a Buick engine on a RWD platform. The end of an era :( lrose- ^5... GNs were indeed automatics from the factory, however some morons have been known to convert to manuals and actually kill the performance.... turbo lag is minimized with an automatic.... And for the uninformed... you CAN manually shift an automatic, that is why your shifter goes P RND321...

I fucking HATED the scene with the gas truck. Why can't they do something that is at least somewhat plausible. It was fake as hell when the tow trucks jacked the trailers but when that fucking tanker flew over vin diesel's head I felt like leaving the theatre.
Now you can say that that's what the franchise is all about, but I think the truck robberies in the 1st movie is as far as they should take it.
The camaro jumping onto the yacht in the 2nd one was arguably even worse than this scene.
