imagine how amazing this girl is to just learn english in a conversational level in a year. IN A YEAR! besides I've met a lot of Asian people (Thailand,Korea,Japan,China,et­c) and they all say it's really hard for them to learn english and give it the right pronunciation so it's very understandable that in the beginning she needed a paper to remember words.

Maybe in the west she wasn't big until Eat You Up, but she was definitely HUGE in Asia in 2000 as a child prodigy when she did Korean, Japanese, and some Chinese songs. I got my first BoA album in 2001 (Korean), though she was virtually unheard of in America.

She was even asked to be Cho Chang in the Harry Potter movies long ago, but turned down the offer.

I was talking about Utada Hikaru, she tried to make the crossover before BoA did but I don't think she succeeded and I know BoA have been HUGE in Asia since ages ago :)

btw the Cho Chang thing, was only a rumor, she said it in TalkAsia with Anjali Rao, she said it wasn't true but it would've been a great opportunity, to be honest I think she would been an awesome Cho Chang,she is a very dedicated gal and so cute.

@airiaram Well They released an entire album and toured for months in the u.s. I think that is really the only reason they got higher ratings. IS because they toured more. Boa and Utada kind of dropped a single sort of did the P.R train and then just both went back to japan. I think that the people behind both BoA and Utada on the U.S debut. Did not really put that much effort in to getting them in to the public view of the U.S Pop culture scene.
