Just had a deer t-bone me today. From the point when I saw the deer to impact was probably one second.
I made one slight adjustment that probably save me injury (it was coming straight for my driver side window, and that was I veered slightly to the right without leaving the road which caused the deer to careen off the side (my rear-view collapsed and deer fur is all down the left side starting from the front quarter panel). It did manage to bust the rear quarter panel with a hoof. It was fast.
