America has nothing like the European Café, the nearest is Starbucks. My university ran a café and they served coffee, but when it is realized that the only place to go for a bunch of young adult students is the Student Union, then it doesn't have the same effect. The United States has not yet developed a social maturity, in the reality that our communities are our social outcomes, as we are still excited at the newness of everything--nothing old--with the television and Internet culture.

In Portuguese, "Café" means Coffee and if you say "Café da Manhã" or "Café da Tarde" means "Breakfast" and "Afternoon's lunch"

also in Italian culture, the word coffee is a symbol. It is a way to "have" socialization ... here in Italy it is almost impossible not to drink coffee:) cafè enters in the common language to say: let's have a coffee, to indicate we meet at that place that day. In Italy coffee = meeting, which is a literary cafe, or a cafe in the heart of Rome, the important thing is to meet ... thank you very good!

Oh yeah - that reminds me - I also heard on radio, the results of research done and released here (nz) yesterday, that the vast majority of ppl under 28 yrs old surveyed now opt for energy drinks, any time of day, given the choice between that or a coffee...
