the reason they are showing this using DX11 is that it uses a shader computing language, which kinda replaces the cpu on certain fronts. this is a big thing for the game developement industry because DX11 allows us to use much more complicated AI and still run is at high framerates.

and yes they only show a 100 characters or so, but it's only to show the fact that they are not using the cpu

a gpu is way faster than a cpu in doing shaders... so why not use a shader computing language which can do stuff like AI on the GPU? and before you start crying ' but the cpu's clock freq. is much faster than the gpu' consider the fact that the gpu shader chip is designed to do one thing... and that is shaders. the cpu has to be able to handle many different tasks. thats also the reason why the cpu is still used for ray tracing... there is no other hardware available to do that

might as well make an aiu instead of using gpu processes. but unlike graphics we have no clue what to base the ai hardware model on as yet, which is why it shoould stick to proprietary implementations till someone turns up a truly robust ai paradigm worthy of translating into hardware

He's describing the AI in the Froblins Tech Demo. Which you can see on the screen as he's talking. In fact this demo utilizes DX 10.1 not DX11 at all. Another fact is that this demo supported DX11's most impressive feature; Tesselation. Read between the lines.

Umm no. The biggest selling point of DX11 is that it is vista/Windows 7 compatible.

Windows 7 is not out yet. You can get a cracked RTM version which will probably not be crackable or have a shitty crack. I'd stick to Vista for a few more months.

Dx11 games will most likely have Dx10 and/or dx9 versions too. Just like we today have dx10 and dx9 versions of Far cry 2 as an example.

So just like a 7900GT can't run dx10 your 9800GTX can't run dx11, BUT the good thing about dx11 is that it introduces features that can be used on dx10, but not all!

And to people whining over graphics.

DX11 doesn't mean better graphics, just like with dx10 it's made to be more efficient! and easier to develop on and has more features.
