  • Hopefully this video summed up most of the story aha

  • I have a test on this book tomorrow and I don't want to read the book, thank you.

  • ARE YOU SHITTING ME?! DIMMSADLADE DIES? WHY DO I EVEN HAVE TO READ THIS?

  • im trying to read the novel, at chapter nine, i just broke, the wrighting had way to much illustration of imagry for any understanding, the words he uses are so beyond me that i barely understand half of what i read. personaly, there are thousands of books written every year that reteaches us these values, im not saying we should Not make this book, but schools should at least let us read todays book's for tomarrow's future

  • @sparton1337

I think it's good to push yourself to read something cryptic or loquacious. It adds to your vocabulary and knowledge. :)

  • Hester was far better off because she owned up to her sin, took the punishment and began healing. Ultimately she was a better person because she helped others and was willing to forgive. The men on the other hand, could not admit or own up to their part in this, and eventually self destruct.

  • Dimmesdale & Chillingsworth were the true loser because they could never stand up like men and reveal who they really were. The woman always seems to be punished and carry the burden of guilt.

  • @maryhiggins09 lollll so true

  • We're all too lazy to even read Sparknotes. Lol

  • @NostalgicSince2005 continued: but others should judge, i don't do that. my ex-bf cheated on a bunch of girls (not me) but he knows that's wrong and he won't do it again, and i still went out with him, i don't judge. anyways, they should have run. i would have, but in EVERY STORY, one of the lovers end up dying, no matter how much those people love each other......sad shame. -_-

  • @NostalgicSince2005 OOOO, well i would have told them off!!!! but then again, woman didn't have alot of rights back then so........ ._. well i feel bad 4 pearl, she didn't do crap and she didn't ask 2 B in this world, so those town people R F*CKED UP!!!!! i won't judge anyone, becaz it's none of my DAMN BISS-NESS!!!! and everyone does bad stuff, so people shouldn't act like they know EVERY FREAKING THING!!!! anyways, great book. But, hester and dimmesdale still "did it" so that waz not right

  • How did Dimmsdale die ??

  • chillingsworth and dimmesdale remind me of severus snape and james potter.

  • but the story is great, i'm gonna read it. :)

  • Uh, Dimmesdale couldn't be MAN ENOUGH, 2 go up and show that he did something BAD, and yet Hester SHUTS her mouth!!! i would have told his butt, that he waz the dad. and Y wood Hester make Pearl look like the Scarlet Letter?!?!?!?!?!?!? like WTH!!!! that's MESSED UP!!!!!! and HOW DOES AN "A" SHOW UP ON DIMMESDALE'S CHEST?!!?!!??!?!?!? he should tell everyone that he's Pearl's dad, Pearl needs a dad, and just because Hester and him did something bad, doesn't mean that Pearl shouldn't have a dad!

  • great book!

  • Thank you for putting this on the web

  • The black man is what the colonists call the devil.

    LOL

  • :D thank you

  • Watching this before and after reading the book is really helpful, as a preview and review.

  • That imp, Pearl!

  • I love this book

  • Reading?

    Too mainstream.

  • test tomorrow. leggo.

  • 2 people failed their English test

  • The reason I loved The Great Gatsby is because it had really tough vocabulary but you didn't have to know all the words to get the story. But in The Scarlet Letter if you don't know one word then you don't know what the fuck is going on. It's a great story but I really wish Nathaniel Hawthorne was a little LESS formal.

  • the story isn't that bad. the book is just a BITCH to read

  • @erik0kyle0stan0kenny Exactly! I'm almost done with the stupid thing and I'm just gonna use this video to tell me the rest. I really like the story, it's just too hard to read. -_____-

  • The movie is fucking horrible. For about 10 minutes the baby cried constantly when they were in the jail cell. They could have gotten the point across that Hester was feeling shitty and her child was too a lot easier if they just showed Pearl crying for a second.

  • thank you for interpreting the book into english.

  • Test tomorrow. I didn't read more than the first chapter. I don'tunderstand a word in that book. :D

  • Thank you from keep me from killing myself! :D I couldn't have lasted reading another page in that boring book that I didn't understand 1 word of.

  • Well I read the modern English watched this. I hope I'm ready for the test tomorrow!

  • THIS IS one boring ass book....

  • Haha test tomorrow on this

  • i love that this entire book can be summed up so fast.

why do all teachers have to make such a huge deal about how 'amazing' it is?

  • hawthorne was a gangsta

  • My name is exatly like his my first Nathaniel my last Hawthorne its kick ass right?

  • Dimmesdale killed himself and chillingworth with nothing left to live for died a few months after his death. Pearl inherited dimmesdale's fortunes and became super rich. Hester and she went to England but Hester came back a few years later.

  • This book should come with a warning label:

    Warning:

Do not read if you are willing to be bored to extreme end which includes but is not limited to: Crying, sleeping, snoring, complete confusion, looking up words every 5 seconds, and/or death

  • Time for bed and not tired.. no problem, just try and read a chapter in this book :D

  • Chillingworth looks demonic. Its so scary. And my favorite line, "And she makes Pearl look kinda like the scarlet letter too..."

  • this book sucks ass

  • I think it's a beautiful romantic novel, once you get past the old english, its not boring at all!!!

  • Thank YOU so much!!! I have a hard time reading it myself cuz every so often i get distracted and start thinking of other things then i have to read it all over again.. i like the visual with the audio. :) and plus now i understand better!!

  • thanks for uploading this! it's a great help! good job! =)

  • i remember when i thought reading books for school was important

  • this is the manifestation of constant procrastination and guilt several days before school starts. summer reading is a pain

  • @josephsmedley or of an essay about this due today :/

  • thank you.

  • Easy A persuaded me to read this. I regret it. Thanks alot Emma Stone.

  • 4:54 creepy!! hahaa

  • this isn't like easy a at all.

  • i want to deface hawthorne's grave for writing this redundant piece of shit

  • On the site they have the whole book translated into a modern version and it helps me to understand it way better. i didn't thhink i'd ever pass a test couse i couldn't understand a word the book was saying. and my teacher talked about it like the whole class understood it or something. i'm so glad i found sparknotes :D

  • I love this. The drawings are funnnnnnny.. lol also my AP lang. teacher was like "you must read the book to pass the test... don’t use sparknotes. I will know that you’re using them" funny thing about that is every question he asked us came straight from sparknotes… it’s a good book to actually read tho. I recommend it ♥

  • Good riddens with the cheating whore

  • do the have THE PEARL?

  • 3:50 and 4:04 LOL

  • I read this book and I'm 12 lol:)

  • This was a good summary, but very little analysis.

  • thank god and I find this. :D

  • I looooove you sparky

  • 8:57 Was it REALLY necessary to give Dimmesdale a six-pack? I mean, for one, he was a minister, and he was kind of self-mutilating and everything...XD

  • @spacedogxlaika And he wasn't sleeping and he was starving himself. I doubt he had time to get ripped xD

  • @spacedogxlaika Maybe that's how he got Hester!

  • i didnt even know some of this stuff after reading the book

  • I find myself procrastinating...and this is the result. Three hours on the computer absorbing everything I can.

  • This was helpful, but books still suck.

  • Oh my god thank you so much. This was incrediblly useful

  • YEAH!! I have a report due tomorrow, and forgot too much stuff about this book..thank you

  • @nazmibest....thanks bro. fuckin ass hole

  • @nazmibest which makes you no better than chillingsworth...

  • ha too good (:

  • wait so chillingworth was happy about opening another guys shirt just to examine his chest Something seems gay

  • yayyyy!!!!...its so clear and precise....i hate the big coloniel words they use in the book....

  • Just finished the book. Ahead of class. YAY! Story was amazing

  • oh yeah, and snape kills dumbledore

  • @TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT You win at life.

  • @TRAmPLdUNdRfOoT OMG. *automatic thumbs up*

  • the narrator kinda failed at the end lol

  • dimsdale is a PUSSY

  • this is an awesome book. i don't see why people don't like it. i mean it's your friggin everyday soap opera with complicated words, a love story between two people that share a sin full of passion and cannot be together because its considered adultry. its quite sad and interesting. you just need to learn how to appreciate art in the form of writing :) thank you for uploading!

  • @MayandAsh4eva

I liked the story... except for all the double negatives and the excess wordiness. In essence, I hate that it's written in the style of the Romantics. Eww. Besides, it's a bit predictable.

  • @neermusic i guess i see your point but i find it so scandolous that it intrigued me. I mean talk about this happening back in the old days and how everyone saw this major act of love as a sin which is quite sad but true, but wut i liked is that hester pulled thru in a way and is a strong woman. and i see you are not much for romantic novels lol but that okay i guess

  • Read the first 2 pages, didnt like it, resorted to Sparknotes :D

  • worst fucking book on the fucking planet. fuck me. fuck this boot. fuck.

  • @lionsEATlions NO THE CATCHER IN THE RYE IS LOL

  • @crimsonfalcon01 but you see... Holden Caulfield has probably the most dry and sarcastic sense of humor on the face of the earth, which makes the book so much better. if you keep an open mind, the book is good. if you don't, it'll be shitty.

  • @lionsEATlions Not sure about you, but I think I'd fuck that boot.

  • @OneManDoomsday hahaa. I noticed my typo. but I think I like it more :]

  • fuck this fucking book

  • i hate this book.

  • "and he says NO" stupid ugly book. jjaja

  • Was everyone as hot as you painted them, back then?

  • @WanderingChild999 Well, Hester WAS exceptionally pretty. So was Dimmesdale.

Anyway, this is one of those exceptional books that you SHOULD read because it is so good. Heck, even read the No Fear modern translation of it if you don't have the time to read and decipher the original text.

One of my favorite books right here! :p

  • i think my teacher uses spark notes for all the tests so this is awesome XD

  • haha the illustrator gave Dimmesdale six-packs XD

  • ugh never read this book. Only sparked note it :)

  • chillingsworth's face at 3:46 had me in tears

  • You just saved me so much reading!

  • watching this > reading book

  • The art is so amazing!

  • D: this is so useful! :O i'm so glad i found this!!! :D thank you! hahaha sparknotes is always a big help haha

  • This makes the book alot easier

  • awesome! thank you Spark Notes!!!

  • currently reading this in my english class! :)

  • @mexx4eva me 2!!
