  • All I will say (and as a British National of non-white origin) is that Akmal Sheikh deserved everything he got to him & justice was served! Majoirty of the UK population will agree with me on this one. United Kingdom, take note. China's criminal justice system sets a mighty example for law abiding criminals who rape, pedo, murder, drugs traffiking. Vincent Tabak, Learco Chindamo, Roy Whiting, Ian Huntley, Mark Phillip Dixie, Anthony Hardy, Michael Barton. Count yourselves fucking lucky!

  • muslims = hominids

  • The saddest thing about this case is that it hasn't served to enlighten too many on the nature of bi-polar disorder. It's a very real debilitating disease which few people understand. Take some time to learn about it.

  • We really want to have a war with Britishmen, Because Chinese want to teach how to listen to a country who is better than u. Please don't be like a pussy,British, Just let us fight.

  • 妈比的,唧唧歪歪烦死了,洋鬼子就是啰嗦,不服就派军队来开片,解放军专治各种不服.

  • Well done Stephen Fry. A wholly decent human being pleading for mercy for another. Unfortunately, the Chinese judicial system doesn't show the same humanity, doesn't look at individual cases on their merits...in this case that the accused was obviously mentally very unwell. At the end of the day, this case exposes that system as an inhumane, and essentially backward one.

  • Without the Communist Party, There would be no new China, and thanks to the execution of Akmal Shaikh and the our justice system, people are more safer than before the execution of Akmal Shaikh, and the decision of the court is the one that I am proud of. Akmal Shaikh was a drugs dealers and totally deserves the pain of death.

  • @st176 Akmal Shaikh was insane.

Those who sacrifice liberty for security will have neither. The Uighurs, the Tibetans, the Manchus: the more the Han oppress them, the more they yearn for freedom. The moment freedom of speech is granted, China will crumble. Let's say nothing of the Falun Gong. If freedom of speech and human rights are denied by the Chinese government, then China will not crumble, but fall into civil war.

Life is will to power. Deny the will of the people at your own peril.

  • @st176 please shut the fuck up..people are safer in china? for every shit you will get death penalty

i wont even go out if i would live in china..and you dare to praise that fucked up nation that cant appreciate anyones life? no one deserves to die

so stop talking shit about that someone deserves to die and assuming that you are right with that opinion..its completely shit and its inhuman..would you think its okay for you to die for a little mistake? fuck your nation

    youre proud of that?

  • @Wurstlol Well, there is something in the western country that is called Freedom of speech, and there is somthing like that in China as well. You have never been to China, nothing you said make senses. I was born in China and lived there for 20 years, I knew China better than you. Listen very carefully, 90% of the Chinese people praise the decision of the executino of Akmal Shaikh, and that is not little mistake, that is a very serious crime, and if you do not like this rule, then stay away.

  • @st176 freedom of speech? is it freedom of speech when the police takes down your camera in the streets of china? is it freedom of speech if someone is against your government AND JUST SPEAKS AGAINST IT WITHOUT DANGERING ANY HUMAN LIFE and gets killed for that?

is it deserved to get the death penalty in your country for

    stealing vegetables for example?

if i would be in china..and talk to you about this topic in front of a police officer..i am dead in a few days..and is that fair?

  • @Wurstlol Of course we have freedom of speech, and of course that is freedom of speech to have camera in the street, they have camera on the street everywhere in the world, including the UK of course. What you are saying is not true, and stealing vegetables will not be punish by the penalty of death, and if you are talking to me in front of any police officer, you will not be dead. I know that beter than you. I am not blind. I am in China for 20 years, I was born there, I know it better than you

  • @st176 you said 90 % percent of the people in china praise the decision...and i think 90 % of the people are just afraid to tell their real opinion

safety without freedom is the better way to rule a country? ..its quite...outdated...

in any case..i think the death penalty isnt fair..even for murdering its not fair in my opinion..because the government cant teach someone not to kill anyone when they do it too

  • @Wurstlol No, no one in China is afraid to tell their real opinion, and you are completely wrong, we have freedom, so don't judge China without knowing what the people really think, as you don't know as much as you think you know, and death penality is a must for murder, even in America, Singapore, Japan, they have execution as well.

  • @st176 so its democracy vs. dictatorship right now...

you musnt tell my anything about fairness when you havent got ANY SENSE for that

  • @Wurstlol There is no dictatorship in China, but there is one, and that is the western country those who always want to rule the world. The Western countries always think they will dominate the world, but they won't, and the lifestyle in the west never suit China. I know China much better than you do. Nothing you said before make any sense, that is for sure.

  • @raymondwr1 This guy was killed to make a point to the british. China does care if he was guilty or not, which he was China would not allow anyone to do and mental evaluation on this person when there was no medical record . Personally china is not hiding anything, and he deserved it.

  • lol Xinjiang is not closed off to foreigners. It's actually more easier for a foreigner to go there than somebody who was born there.

The guy was Pakistani and not Arab. There's plenty of Pakistanis that transit the border so he was obviously smuggling drugs.

  • If you believe that garbage then you are an idiot.

He was a drug mule well aware of what he was doing and he received the punishment he deserved.

Such punishments are necessary to avoid the sort of suffering caused by drugs for example in Mexico where tens of thousands of innocents are killed by drug cartels in the most brutal fashion.

If you don't like it don't come to China.

  • @raymondwr1 Remember that anyone who brings 4kg of heroin into china will end up like Akmal Shaikh.

  • @raymondwr1 As soon as they are doing that legally, that is fine by me. Everyone who is in China will obey the Chinese law. Everyone is in the UK will obey the British law. Everyone is in the USA will obey the America law.

  • British drug traffickers Akmal Shaihk brought 4kg of heroin into China, according to Chinese law, that is good enough to execute him dozens of times. With clear facts and evidence, sentenced to the death penalty is perfectly correct. UK gov was wrong to intervene or to ask our gov to intervene the decision of the court. UK media was wrong to believe words from Reprieve as they are words with no proof. I repeat, the execution of Akmal Shaikh was justice, legal & nothng wrong with that, accept it!

  • the only thing all of you British should remember is, never take drugs to China!

  • @ st176

Anyways, you're obviously too caught up in Chinese ideology and propaganda to be objective,or to acknowledge the rest of the developed world finds this case disgusting. RIP Akmal Shaikh

  • @MegaBudHead No, why don't you say that there are people that was mistaken by the western media? The execution of Akmal Shaikh was justice.

  • @ st176

Your argument seems to revolve around the rest of the entire world being wrong and simply trying to 'pick' on China out of jealousy! The western world does not censor what the Chinese news reports, the Chinese censor HUGE amounts of what the rest of the world reports. Facebook = banned, Youtube = banned, BBC = banned. Reporting of the olympic torch demonstrations = banned. World views on the Tibet situation = banned. The UK does not stop you seeing both sides of the argument, China does.

  • @raymondwr1 Of course, everyone can be one of the strongest, that is for sure, but we will be one of the strongest without any doubt.

  • @raymondwr1 One day, China will be one of the strongest country in the world.

  • China will be one of the strongest country in the world, and I am proud to say that I am Chinese, and I am proud to say that the execution of Akmal Shaikh was justice and over 20000 lifes were saved. Very happy indeed.

  • @ st176

You're obviously not writing that from China as China is sooo paranoid about anyone voicing an anti-Chinese sentiment that YouTube is banned there.

Seeing as his trial didn't even follow Chinese law, how can this be justice even by China's appalling standards?

It's ignorant views of people like you which is why the world looks down on China and it's insulated people.

  • @MegaBudHead No, his trail was completely following the Chinese law, and that's why this is justice by the China's highest standards. Akmal Shaiikh's execution was justice and there are only a few that not look down on China, but jealous that the way that China's improving and try to damage the image the China by lying.

  • @st176

Am I right in thinking you've got all your info on this from Chinese news agencies? As I said on another comment look at ANY non-chinese news source and see if you still believe that. That he was carrying drugs on him is not in question, it's the fact that the Chinese court refused to listen to ANY evidence about his psychological illness, despite their own board of advisors unanimously saying the court should. China executed a mentally ill man.

  • @MegaBudHead No, this is my conclusion after reading all materials, including BBC, ITV, SKY, and the news written in Chinese, as well as Reprieve. Chinese court was correct to refuse any evidence that was not good enough to show that he was mentally ill. We did not execute any mentally ill man.

  • @ st176 so you think the "Come Little Rabbit" video (with the genuine belief it will achieve world peace) is the work of a completely sane 53yr old? You also have seen the emails he sent to embassies and organisations worldwide i take it and believe those too are the works of a completely sane man? The Chinese court refused to see ANY evidence about his psychological state so how could they have deemed it "not good enough" w/o even seeing it?

  • @MegaBudHead It is no good wheeling Akmal Shaikhs terrible pop song out as evidence that he was bi-polar. It was no worse than the stuff we laugh about at every audition of Britains Got Talent, and anyone can sent email to embassies and organisations doesn't mean they have mentally illness. Our court was correct to ignore every so-called evidence if they are not good enough to prove that Akmal Shaikh was mentally ill before or when he was caught. So I believe that he was never mentally ill.

  • @ st176

For the third time [!] The Chinese court refused to see ANY evidence about his psychological state so how could they have deemed it "not good enough" w/o even seeing it? They even refused Psychologists giving evidence for or against. The quality of the song is not the issue, do you beleive that's normal behaviour for a 53yr old man (a song about a bunny that will bring about world peace)? Anyone can send an email no doubt, it's the content of the email I'm obviously referring to!

  • @MegaBudHead You can repeat as many times as you like, but I can for sure that tell you that our court WAS CORRECT to ignore anything that cannot prove that he was mentally ill when he was caught or before he was caught, and no medical assessment will take place if there was no medical record. I do believe that can be a normal behaviour for a 53yr old man for the song and email without any doubt. Anyone can do thing that doesn't make sense doesn't mean they are mentally ill.

  • @ st176

You are missing the point or deliberately not understanding. How does the court know the evidence does not "prove that he was mentally ill" without first being given the evidence? They have no clue what the evidence was as they refused to acknowledge it's existence. Read the Chinese reports and show me anywhere where they refer to mental illness even being brought up as an issue.

  • @MegaBudHead No, according to our Law, an intellectually challenged person can be pardoned for a crime if it is committed when he or she had no control over his/her action. If his/her mental illness is of an intermittent nature, he/she shall be held guilty if the crime is committed when he/she was in a normal state of mind.

Shaikh's mental state was perfectly sound when he was arrested with 4 kg of heroin upon reaching Urumqi airport in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Sep 12, 2007.

  • @ st176

So the court knew for certain he was in sound mind, despite not seeing a shred of evidence for or against his mental illness?! How did they know this then?!

  • @MegaBudHead Yes, our court know for certain that he was in sound mind as there was evidence that shows that he was not mentally ill when he was caught, and there was no medical record, that is good enough for the court to ignore the rest. Nothing wrong with it.

  • @ st176

If that was a court in any other developed nation, the evidence for his mental illness would by law have to be heard. Sadly, backwards China was trying to make a political show of power so refused to acknowledge anything that contravened their end objective, breaking their own laws in the process and ignoring their own board of advisors recommendations. Those were sarcastic/rhetorical qu's I was asking...

  • @MegaBudHead Talk about nation, this is China that we are talking about, and it was nothing but a political show from the UK rather than the Chinese. We did nothng wrong at all. I believe that no court should allow medical assessment if no medical record were provided are something that we are proud of, and the court did everything right in this case that I am talking about. This case prove that China is going forward, not backward, so you are wrong of saying that we are going backward.

  • If these Brit mother fvckers want to be good international citizen, they should stop selling illegal drugs to China like their predecessors have done 150 years ago.

  • Yes, 150yrs ago!!! what the hell is your point?! You could buy cocaine and heroin out of Harrod's around 1920. THINGS CHANGE!!! China seemingly doesn't...

  • I think the main problem is that Britain won't make a stand, so China knows they can do what they like. If this had happened to an American citizen (especially before Obama then there'd be hell to pay.

  • @Aldris247 Akmal Shaikh would have been executed no matter he is British, American, or even Chinese, and the execution of Akmal Shaikh has absolutely nothing to do with his nationality.

  • **Just shading crocodile tears.

-When you sent opium to China in 1860s ,I didn't see you cry.

When you kill Muslims in Iraq and Afgan,I didn't see you cry

-When you say ,Pakistani and Indian are you social cancer but now you are telling drug smuggler is innocent or psycho.

-Your guilty conscience try to show you are protecting one Muslim drug smuggler ,after killing them all in the middle East.

  • @alleluia

1: going back on your own words now are we? if you actually believed what you say, then why did you urself agree with a jailing the scum?

    2. If i was sane enough to bring drugs to china, i am sane enough to be executed, if I was bipolar, do you think I should not be held accountable if the evidence was compelling that I raped your mom and then killed her and before that, take some pictures to commemorate with (following the footsteps of british soldiers in iraq)?

  • Iuguhu1 You have not been allowed to comment because of your vitriolic. If you cool your language down a bit I'm sure the envigilators will allow you back on.

  • @alleluia

even the britards know the evidence in the conviction was so compelling that they could only try the insanity plea

and even more, since you agree with jail sentence in the mass smuggling case, then you agree with the conviction, despite the scums trying to introduce insanity into the case

then since you agree with conviction, you agree with execution, for if u do not, u disrepect the law of another nation, that will be a capital offence britards will pay heavily in the future

  • @opeeum69 If you had manic depressive disorder (Bipolar) would you not expect this to be investigated and taken into account. Are you happy to be executed without a fair trial?

  • You can evade crime in England, but not Supreme China.

  • well i don't have enough time to waste doing a full smack down on your bullshit righteousness, and also youtube puts on a character limit lol, i can only pick bits of what i want to say and jam it down your throat OP, but looks like you need another noah's flood to wake the fuck up and realize yelling and screaming and using well abused legal tactics get you no where, you want something? first start apologizing and make that the focus of ur media, then u might get something numb shits

  • Not at all helpful...

  • To icfireplace and kryflam

Shaikh was a terror suspect..... but that does'nt make him guilty... strange if we executed everyone if we executed everyone we thought guilty without proper evidence. How many people on this site using 'rhetoric' to strengthen their case should be certified unstable...

  • Jail sentence maybe execution no.

  • if this were to happen in UK, might i remind you, you'd laugh at the insanity plea

because you yourself would be the FIRST to turn your back on your fellow drug smuggling countryman, pleading insanity only tells me how compelling the evidence was in his arrest and his guilt in the crime

b/c you feel uneasy about china executing a british national, this doubt about his sanity vaporized, you want to save his scum life? how bout apologizing first for british bitches bringing drug into china

  • I'm interested where you got your facts from.

Also.... how dare you imply that all muslims are the same... there are good and bad in all nations...I have great friends who are Dutch, Hindu, Jewish, Australian, R.C and C of E... etc etc. You insult your intelligence and defame the human person!

  • why are these Bleeding hearts weeping over a bloody drug dealer? Good riddance i say!

  • Thanks for your comment... it was helpful

  • WOW , U KNOW SO MUCH , YOU ARE THE LAWYER OF AKMAL? YOU MET AKMAL HE TOLD YOU? LOL , STUPID FOOLISH BRITISH PPL , RULED BY UR FAKE GOVERNMENT N THINK YOU ARE LIVING IN HEAVEN,

YOU GOOD LIFE TODAY COMES YOUR QUEEN VICTORIA SELLING dRUG TO CHINA,

GO TO EDUCATE US PERIDENT N PM BRWON , IRAN PPL WAN HUMAN RIGHTS !!!

  • Funny.. im british and I have the same view as you, my government is corrupt and stupid, a bunch of fat fucks getting richer, we should leave Iraq, offer to repay all damages we have done but fuck off. Just because im british does not mean i automatically side with my goverment or my royal family so dont stereotype me.

  • joperhop-you are a traitor and disgrace to a great land-probably hate the fact that britain conquered the world and gave us its great culture-wish one british soldier would hear you say that horseshit and stomp your worthless drug infested, flea infested ass-shitbag was executed just as all shitbag drug dealers should be-please,take some drugs to china, you worthless bag of shit

  • Like my brother? He is army and SHARES my view, just because i think my goverment sucks and dont see the point in royal family does not mean I would not lay my life down my this Island, but our goverment are arseholes, just read the newspapers from the last year, 28week holidays during a war? Giveing wrong names of fallen soilders? NOT MY GOVERMENT!!!

  • I think you should be prime minister.. you are so thoughtful and caring

  • You doing a marvellous job for race relations...how do you do it!

  • Cool it... dont' get excited... none of us are perfect.. we have stupid people here in government and intelligent ones... much like China... Do we always do everything right...I don't think so..

  • Hi shuangkhan,

My remarks were directed to the people who replied to you..

  • If the death penalty was applied to EVERYONE who makes shit music the world would be a much nicer place.

  • @acidsunrise

but barely anyone would make music fearing of being killed.

  • You are so wonderful... and wise...

  • @shijmus

My comment is not political nor nationalist. He(it) is the one of a human being who is only noticing, as us all moreover, that the human etre is a monster. " Misfortune to the losers " and " The man is a wolf for the man " Jules Cesar (year 57/58) Emperor Romain. And we always obtain the same reaction: " yes, but the others (yours) made worse... " In what celà does he(it) advance the debate?

  • Don't you just hate people who post comments then retract them straight away like pussies...cough cough uTubeVIP :0

  • The UK cut off bnefits for the mentally unstable EVERY FUCKING DAY! They have some pen pushing bastard asses a person and think that because they were not shitting or pising their pants that they are fit to go to work..even if they are on medication etc.

SO FUCK YOU ALL. THIS EXECUTION MIGHT MAKE THOSE PIGS REALISE THAT MENTAL ILLNESS IS REAL.

FUCK OFF ALL BENEFIT CUTTING BASTARDS! I HOPE IT ENCOURAGES MORE ILL FOLK TO COMMIT CRIMES.

  • fuck off, a druger dealer is a gentlemant? Yes he is English gentleman.

  • and he is an english patient

  • Brown and CO. and Reprieve and the Shaikh concoted a tallest tale of the noughties, maybe the century, to wriggle out of a heinous crime. No surprise there, opium pushing as a state policy is their ideal. Maybe Britain, backed by the US, could pump opium into China again. Releasing a silly video (they can't even prove that drug smuggler sang it,) and some "capitalized emails" as prove of his "insanity." Then in the last minutes, dug up "six more witness" to say he was crazy. Don't make me laugh

  • Listen britain should look at themselves a clearly unbalanced man possibly vulnerable possibly dellusional he should have been sectioned and assessed not free to come and go as he pleased. The chinese have their laws its not there responsibility.

  • The argument here is that Akmal Shaikh deserves preferential treatment because he is British.

Racism is always nasty, but never nastier than when it dresses up as compassion.

  • so the customs and security let a mentally unsound muslim onto a plane with 4kilos of an unknown substance? way to go britain!

or, if he was given he heroin in urumqi, that would be on the border with afghanistan. so the heroin wouldve been sold to fund the taliban.

  • @douboymk2

There, you add of the other one given: a situation of ideological war and the purpose: the use of the money(silver) to fine terrorists. Why the execution of such an individual would be desirable and would solve the problem? Who says to you that I am going to be for the death penalty in that case, even if I désaprouve his(her, its) act? There are the other means to solve the problems even if it is complicated.

  • just because he didnt sell drug to ur son or ur mother or the teorrist didnt kill ur mother , so u say so easily , put urself in other ppl's shoe

  • I suggest that drug traffickers and bandits all over the world to Europe, especially Britain, because they are where they are seen as mentally ill, or that the British themselves drug traffickers and bandits, three hundred years ago they selling efforts in Africa, killing slaves, two hundred years ago They smuggled opium to the Chinese invade weaker countries

British drug traffickers and bandits transition

  • China

    well done !!

  • all those who are commenting about china how many of you have actually been there? dont believe everything you read china is a great country

  • China done well

    Free NorthIreland

  • It is sad that a life is wasted!

Yet, Dont us bias human right slogan to demonize others! Where is the human right of the drug victims???!

    Shame on Brown!

If UK and EU want to support drug smuggling, UK should advice and promotes the drug gang to go to UK and EU instead of China! In China drug smuggling is capital punishment, no matter who you are and that is the law!!

Yet, that Shaikh was executed by law not because he is British but because he break the law!

  • So if they found drugs on you it'd be ok if they executed you? thats a pretty harsh stance since it could be planted on you or you could be unaware that you even had them.

    The man is a victim

  • Shame on the British politician, Shame on Golden Brown and Ivan Lewis to support drug smuggling! Dont use excuse and the bias view point to make political attack!

For 2 years, 2 years, Brown and Lewis fail to provide any previous medical record to prove Shaikh is mentally ill. What the hell Brown and Lewis want?

Article 48 and 347 of China's Criminal Law states that .rafficking more than 50 grams of heroin are punishable by death. How many life Shaikh has to be spare for carry 4Kg!

  • The central point of this case is that the Chinese government would not allow Akmal to be medically tested to validate his defence. Those who say, "you commit the crime, you do the time", are shown to be ignorant as the law should take medical history into account in order to make a reasoned judgement. This case shows the law is too 'black and white' and if you honestly believe in this punishment, humanity is in a state of crisis. Stop being ignorant and inject some empathy back into society

  • Medical history was taken into account and no evidence of mental illness was provided.

He has never been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or any other mental illness.

  • Does lying make you happy - or are you just an asshole, paid by the chinese government?

NO medical history was taken, NO doctor was asked, he couldn't even talk to his lawyer.

You must be Nazi-scum to tell everybody that this was in order.

  • For a start, this man was Pakistani, not British. He held residancy around the world, including America and poland. The fact is, this man was caught breaking a law which carried a death sentance in China. He's going to suffer the consequences of his actions. Somehow I don't think Gordon Brown would condemn the Saudi Arabians if I were to go over there and break one of their laws which carries a death sentance. You commit the crime, you do the time. Bad luck if it is one that results in death.

  • If we want to maintain the flow of reasonably priced goods we receive from China, we're going to have to ignore the Chinese Government's civil rights abuses. I c

  • Today is not year 1840 anymore!!! Someone who is trying to sell drugs to Chinese is unforgivable!!!!

  • When in Rome the old saying goes.

EVERYONE is responsible for their own actions, hiding behind mental illness as some sort of defence, is as retarded as the "victim" claims to be.

    R.I.P Drug pusher

  • you people didn't do anything in the past 2 years to save him. only after learning that he will be excuted, you began to say that he has mentally disease. so is he really mentally ill? or you just want to help him escape excuting?

  • The essence of this case is how the Chinese put the facts together and prosecuted. Everyone would agree that we don't want drug pushers but was this guy given a fair trial. Was justice seen to be done. All the morons on this site f....ing this and that should be ashamed and spend a day in prison. (Google Li Qiaoming case) .

  • Has anyone ever told you that you are sick?

  • support China Geverment!

  • Fuck up Fry you fucking dogooder.Stick to QI.If more countries did this to drug peddlers then maybe the drug problem would'nt be so out of control.Up the chinkys.

  • If China pardoned Akmal Shaikh, that would simply be an open invitation to drug-running cartels all over the world to begin using people with bipolar disorder as mules.

Stephen Fry can't understand this - but then he has made a career out of being not terribly bright.

Clemency for Shaikh is not fair either on the Chinese, or on bipolar people the world over.

  • I'm sorry my friend you are missing the point.

Was A S given a fair trial? Was justice seen to be done? Look at the facts and other cases in China you will be shocked.

  • hey man, look at this fact: any one, no matter who, carrying drugs of 50 grams or more, will face death penalty

  • Just illustrate what cases you have heard?

What's unfair for him?Innocent is fair trial?

American people all said Knox hasn't recieved fair trial, just beacause the verdicat should have all the jurors agreement but not few. Do you think that's fair or unfair judge for America Knox?

  • You just read your media words, so you smirch a good country. Comapred the population of China and othercountry, which one is difficulty to govern? Compared with another big country, India, China is richer much , china helped so many people have a rich life. Welcome to China, learn a real China but not only media shunk.

  • Hi, luguhu1 I'm sure China is a great country in a lot of ways like the UK. I'm sure many people are friendly and kind as they are in the UK. Our judiciary are not always perfect as our press shows. Their appears to be a question over some human rights in China. Can an outsider not question these? Google Amnesty and you will get a few stories.

  • Yes, you are right, China, to some extent, the government is sensitive to what would be considered to surbvert government. But now, something is more open than before. For chinese people, we have different ideas about human rights. I think for UK, your human rights based on your long and highly-developped history.

  • China, new PRC,is only 60 years old. Developing,no natter of economy or culture or quality of people,or right humans, needs time. But all of us only urge and anticipate the results but ignoring the process with progressing.

  • For most of Chinese people, they are satisfied with the achievements that our government had had. We had accept current political system, one party govern the country. We don't like selection ,really. Much more vilonence and fighting would happen for selection. But till now, we have very good presidents than some other contries,

  • for example, Chairman mao liberate old chinese people, Deng Xiaoping, with greatest attribution to our economy reform, keep us open to the world. Jiang,Hu are also good too. Of course, we should permit the exist of different sounds, but in a big country, somebody would make good use of this chance ,mislead other people. Like Tiananmen square 1989, . For common people, we don't mind and don't care who is our president or governing party. We just hope having a better lift. That's all.

  • That's why our nation people prefer to keeping the death penalty . We need a safety living condition. Life ,for crimine ,is valuable. How about for other people??? So, it's nothing with human rights.

  • Amnesty ,is only sutiable for political crimines, right? En, in China, political issues are sensitive ones. Beacause the government hope to keep the society stable. I don't think some so-called democratic persons have the good destination for the contry, who knows? They may have selfish goal, to be high officials?

  • china is a country made out of newspapers

  • good riddance to a peddler in death

  • Oh I forgot to mention... the baby next door, it was the fucking husband... mad as a fucking hatter... stands outside my front door calling me a wanker in a menacing voice... crashed his car through two gardens in a 20 mile an hour zone !!! yeah you explain it to me... Spends his entire day watching fucking star war films over and over... even his wife didn't fucking shop him because they stick together, especially when dirty fucking white man is concerned... they would have killed that baby....

  • Bi- polar my fucking arse....always with a fucking excuse these cunts... Like the Paki's who live next door to me.... 2 month old baby taken away, mutipul fractures, including legs and ribs.... what did they do ? claimed the baby had brittle bone disease !!!! which funnily enough went away as soon as the baby was taken away. Niether of them were ever prosecuted and they found enough white people who were willing to take the tax payers money to try and get them off scott fucking free....

  • You are a moron, my dad has bipolar and it is very real, and Steven fry is completely accurate in what he is saying. What you are saying is so offensive, in fact have you even seen the video.

  • My mother has bipolar disorder too, but if she broke the law dealing drugs, I would expect her to face the consequences. In China, they have the death sentance, like many other countries (including the one where this gentleman was born I might add). If he wanted to deal heroin, he should have picked somewhere that wouldn't kill him for it. You commit the crime, you do the time. End of.

  • I'm going shove some heroin up your arse and send you to china, see how you like facing death, idiot.

  • Akmal Shaikh must be punished by the pain of death for the 4kg of heroin that he brought in.

  • If I had heroin and I was in china, and I was caught... I'd accept the penalty. The fact is, thats not going to happen. He broke the law. He payed for it. End of.

  • I bet you wouldnt, seriously. Why waste a life you pointlessly.

  • If it was my mistake, I believe that I deserves to die for that. Everyone will need to be careful in all case, and always say no to drugs.

  • @st176 if people can say no to drugs..they even cant get killed by them

so Akmal Saikh didnt adventure anyone...because he just HAD the drugs..and didnt coerce anyone to buy drugs or overdose them

death penalty for drug-owning is in my opinion more than ridiculous

    fuck your justice system

but wait..i said in my opinion..in china..you arent allowed to have one..right?

  • @Wurstlol Everywhere in the world, drugs are illegals, no matter you like it or not. It is even illegal that you use the drugs and never sell it, and the penality is death is absolutely fair. I am proud of my justice system, and don't you dare say ill to my justice system, and we are allowed to have our own opinion, thank you.

  • @st176 penalty of death IS NOT fair for something like that...but im talking to someone who hasnt got his own opinion...makes this any sense? i think not

of course drugs are illegal..but owning them when they are sold to no one its definitely not fair in my opinion

  • @Wurstlol Well, the penalty of death is surely fair as it is the Chinese law, and different countries has different set of laws, so if I go to Germany, I will obey the German law whether I like it or not, and the same goes to our Chinese law. If you are in Chinam, you must obey the Chinese law whether you like it or not. Simple. And any person who caught having drugs will say they are having them for their own use if the punishment is different, so the punishment has to be the same, is that fair

  • @st176 you are allowed to have your opinion..if its not against your fucked up government...

    you are blinded

  • @st176 hey lol..and i dare to say that china is even worse than germany in WW2

  • I don't know why Fry was sticking his fucking oar in....

This is the exact reason why these cunts come from all over the world come to England.... because they know they can get away with murder ( litarally) What Fry, Brown and the rest of the head up thier arse do-gooders need to face up is that these Paki's don't like whites, in fact they fucking despise people with white skin. But what happens when they get caught with thier dirty hands in the cookie jar ? good old whitey to help them

  • Therefore signed the "Nanjing Treaty" is one of modern China's first unequal treaty, the Hong Kong Island, also in this war, was ceded to the United Kingdom, in addition, the United Kingdom also received MFN and consular jurisdiction, etc. As cede territory and pay reparations for Modern China is also the first time.

  • The first Opium War (June 28, 1840 -1842 year in August, the Qing dynasty, twenty to twenty-two years) is a British war against China launched by the war was sparked off by the British to sell opium to China by force, war in order to ended with the defeat of China.

  • @ tomatokaka

Come on man...that was over 150 years ago lol.

We have forgiven Germany for WW2 so i think it's time you forget about something which happened before living memory!

Huray to China for getting rid of drug peddling Muslim scum though....

  • china is unstable? i guess you havent been out to the real world then! china is a fast growing country and moving forward as fast as all the other countries in the world! take a trip to china and educate yourself! oh and not only china execute! come to asia to do some research and learn!

  • well he is dead now sooooooo to late lol, they executed him at 2:30am gmt last night, or so says yahoo news.

  • LOL, the judiciary R "simply not responsible for their actions..." either, uhh. Both they + the politicians have contrived to give themselves immunity from prosecution for their own crimes!?!? (..../watch?v=o6_aEEMVoPM )

  • this dude aint British! this some INDIAN! what the fuck they think that by saying British China gonna go soft on him LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL and yes he wasnt born in england so He NOT BRIT!!!!!

  • someone let a man who has mental disease to carry 4 KG heroin from england to China. i wonder if the man was caught in Singapore,Japan or USA, what is the comment from britain goverment?

  • Stephen Fry about Twitter and stuff, a plead for donations... I feel sick!

  • ChelskiBonjourino, following your logic, since you cannot catch all the criminals so let's not catch any criminals.

  • paki islam is a dirty religion

  • Why do people care about this UK citizen?

The Chinese do this too over 1000 of their OWN people each year.

The whole Chinese judicial system needs to be revolutionised, not just this one Briton given a reprieve.

  • @luguhu1. No disrespect, but u r reading what the Chines wanted u to read. He carried 4K. Yea, but it's 4007g. Sounds a lot more doesn't it. He could have killed, what was it, 26300 people?, Doesn't matter what ok!! Get the point?

  • @mags9158

Kill 26300, possibly; sedate 100,000, most certainly.

  • @dewexdewex Thanx for the calculation lol. I just feel that something has to come out of this. The genuine Chinese people have not got a clue to what's happenin, not only with this case, but other people who are executed. Something really needs to be done. It's tragic that Akmals case has brought it all to our attention.

  • i am in USA now, i can read anything i want. I've been to Europe too. Do you think 4k is a little?

Frankly, china government would block or filter some so-call unhealthy website, but China is still open enough. Have you been to China? Otherwise, you will only know very very little about China.

  • @luguhu. I'm glad i don.t. China is unstable and a frightened country. They are responsible for 72% of executions throughout the word yearly., often those executed have done trivial things. They are a dictatorship. And in this day and age, the has to stop.

  • I don't think the death penalty relates with the humanity. One contry need develop, he should try to have a stable society. I had said, China has the most population. Of course it would take much more percentage for all the executions. Meanwhile, according to the high development, diverse crimines has appeared. It affect other innocent people. If most of nation people prefer to keeping the death penalty, why not ?

  • The government wouldn't force everybody to read or do sth, this is not North Korea. But China has so large population, you should think what is the best way to keep the country stable. That's the key of his success in developing. So, a certain filtering is essential. If you have chance to visit China, welcome, You will know more about China and Chinese people. They are really not like what you were thinking as past.

  • i am grad that there are still so many people are still clear-headed. It is noting with where he is from . This is crimine ,he would kill few thousands of innocent life. China is sovereign state and has the right to to judge anyone who commit crimines in his counntry.

  • I don't think it's advisable to feel sympathy for this criminal. If he is mental ill, provide your evidence. I think you should know American girl Knox killed her British roomate, Just like most of American people thinking Knox is innocent too, she killed her roommate or not? She knows, jurors know. How about you?

  • So ,everybody , don't support any crimines which only occur beyond your country. Also, don't confound right and wrong even even if this criminal is from your contry. Beacause we are kind people who stand up with justice but no malignancy.

  • I think ,England government and this criminal's family should be appreciated and grateful for Chinese government. Beacause , injection death penalty, only very few special criminals can enjoy this treatment. Otherwise, he would have been killed at least one year ago ,shot by gun.

  • So, Chinese government had considered much for British government and even the feeling of your people. But crimine is crimine, no excuse or escaping.

  • Put yourself in other postion, if this crimine happened in England, what would you do? Don't tell me you have no death penalty. For American girl Knox, life sentence is more severe than death penalty.

  • A bipolar individual who has been lured into a wrongful action is not someone who deserves to be executed nor should a life be snuffed out for the smuggling of drugs. Of course if you are raised in a culture where being executed or tortured or intimidated into slavish compliance is your daily norm then you need not enter into any argument with those of us from the worldview that law ought not be an absolute fixed monolith.
