Lets not forget. There is a lot of persecution of Christians by Christians. Russia and Ethiopia are two prime examples. Protestant churches are vicious vandalized and members attacked by Orthodox Christians. Or what about the Mormons, forced to drive west because of other christians. I remember when an LDS Temple was being built in my area. It got 5 bomb threats. Two of the people were caught, both were members of a local evangelical church.

Where I was going with the bob thing was this: Bob is of a different sect than you, you and bob agree on the important suff (one true god, jesus is lord and savior, bible is inspired word of god) These seem to be the issues that are non negotiable and fundamental to being a christian. Meaning anyone who believes those thinks can accurately be called a christian.

Thats a problem, I have seen several issues like this come up, And there is no absolute objective way to determine whos right. One is there is only One God, that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God,born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified and raised again on the 3rd day, and is now seated in heaven at the right hand of God. @bestill77 The Bible clearly and explicitly advocates slavery. It gives instructions on who to enslave, how long you can enslave them, how much you can beat them, how much to pay for them. It explicitly advocates owning another human being as property, including passing them on to your offspring. This Old Testament advocation is not reversed in the New Testament, it's supported with specific instructions for servants/slaves to obey even cruel masters.

Persecution of Christians in the USA is highly unlikely. Bibles are the most widely available and owned book in the country. IMO, an American Christian claiming persecution has little faith
I agree in a subtle Christian persecution that is at best anecdotal. I have seen it happen myself. I see the persecution claim as anecdotal because there is no statistical evidence of a trend. The same goes for atheistic persecution. If punishing someone for their religious affiliation is ground for a hate crime, where are the statistics that verify it?
As for silencing, Christians have access to the TV airwaves on Sunday mornings, which has millions of viewers. How can you claim persecution?

Lets not forget. There is a lot of persecution of Christians by Christians. Russia and Ethiopia are two prime examples. Protestant churches are vicious vandalized and members attacked by Orthodox Christians. Or what about the Mormons, forced to drive west because of other christians. I remember when an LDS Temple was being built in my area. It got 5 bomb threats. Two of the people were caught, both were members of a local evangelical church.

Where I was going with the bob thing was this: Bob is of a different sect than you, you and bob agree on the important suff (one true god, jesus is lord and savior, bible is inspired word of god) These seem to be the issues that are non negotiable and fundamental to being a christian. Meaning anyone who believes those thinks can accurately be called a christian.

Christian A. says homosexuality is abomination, and even goes to the point of saying killing homosexuals wouldnt be totally against gods word. And being that there are at least 2 passages in the bible that support that position. Christian B says God loves all his creation, and jesus was so filled with love that at the very least jesus would try to help them as opposed to condemning them immediately.

@justcary There is merit to each side, and both can be accurately called christians, yet they each poit to the other saying they are not two christians. Thats a problem, I have seen several issues like this come up, And there is no absolute objective way to determine whos right. They are both founded in accepted christian beliefs and/or dogma, and usually come from either a differing translation of scripture, or personal opinion.

One is there is only One God, that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God,born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified and raised again on the 3rd day, and is now seated in heaven at the right hand of God. The bible plainly states anyone who denies this is of the spirit of anti-Christ. So they would be considered non christian, though they hide behind the name.

@bestill77 The Bible clearly and explicitly advocates slavery. It gives instructions on who to enslave, how long you can enslave them, how much you can beat them, how much to pay for them. It explicitly advocates owning another human being as property, including passing them on to your offspring. This Old Testament advocation is not reversed in the New Testament, it's supported with specific instructions for servants/slaves to obey even cruel masters.

Persecution of Christians in the USA is highly unlikely. Bibles are the most widely available and owned book in the country. Furthermore, many own guns because the 2nd amendment guarantees your right to form militias when the central government becomes too big. Realize this, the ministers in the USA were feared by the Britished by the Revolutionary War because they were "secret force" behind the lines. They fought valiantly too.

I agree in a subtle Christian persecution that is at best anecdotal. I have seen it happen myself. I see the persecution claim as anecdotal because there is no statistical evidence of a trend. The same goes for atheistic persecution. If punishing someone for their religious affiliation is ground for a hate crime, where are the statistics that verify it?
As for silencing, Christians have access to the TV airwaves on Sunday mornings, which has millions of viewers. How can you claim persecution?

The Columbine shootings had nothing if very little to do with religion or God, it was purely motivated by social ostracism and bullying that Dylan and Eric were subjected to, that and the fact that both of them had histories of some kind of mental illness.
