  • says "diction can are"? or dictioncanary (?) please say me whats means the word

  • lol and some of u guys are complaining about johhny rottens vocals. stilll good though

  • FUCK ALL OF YOU IGNORANTS... FUCK YOU, TV SLAVES. FUCK THOSE WHO THINK THAT EMO IS A BAD GENRE OR FOR PUSSIES... EMO WAS NOT SHORT FOR "EMOTIONAL", EMO WAS SHORT FOR "EMOTIVE" YOU FUCKING DUMB ASSES... EMO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH GAY HAIRCUTS, MAKE UP OR MTV POP CORE. EMO WAS NOT MAINSTREAM. DO YOU KNOW DIY, IGNORANTS?? YOU ARE STUPID KIDS, STUPID NOOBS. EMOTIVE HARDCORE FTW!!!!!!!!!

  • lmao, tim kinsella always looks really fucking high

  • Crazy how one band can be so unknown and yet so influential. It makes sense if you really know these guys from back in the 90's.

  • The singer is terrible... but it m akes them great.

  • @PaintballRush222 if uve ever seen how alot of art is its kinda like it. its not neat its almost slopphy. but thats the point, but for some reason it looks good

  • great song, great band. shame they broke up

  • @noobz0r bro, they reunited.

  • love this song and the live footage. ty for posting

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOT

  • Check out the OKC emo band que suerte. they're super good!

  • i cant get over how young tim looks.

  • i cant describe how I feel about this in words. probably one of my most eye-openeing bands. all i can remember is flailing like an idiot whenever i heard schmapp n' schmazz.. I love it. RIP.

  • This video is a valuable record of a passionate, ingenious, and independent band at their best, unadulteratedly expressing what's inside of them.

  • How the FUCK did they come up with this music? It's just so GOOD and creative and ... what the fuck, man, they were just kids making this so amazingly real and HONEST music. I wish I could have seen them perform. I might have cried ...

  • I have seen them (20+ times,) and I did cry... more than once--but in the good, cathartic sort of way.

Just raw and totally honest... To date I've never experienced anything like the raw emotional release that was Cap'n Jazz, on their home turf, in front of a crowd that really "got" them. These videos, while the performances are pretty good, don't show you what you really need to know about this band--they all draw on the crowd, and what we got in Chicago back then was ten times more special.

  • The drummer is really good.

I really believe that a good drummer is a sign of a band emotionally (or someway) connecting to it's audience.

  • What's with this categorization bullshit? Cap'n Jazz is good, and they sound more like Fugazi or Husker Du than MCR. And tell me, would MCR ever play a stage this small or ever be so loose (in a good way) with their songs?

  • I love reeses peanut butter cups and I love this song and I love this band. Period.

  • they're so young at this point. i don't think they care what shirts they're wearing

  • maybe he's just wearing a shirt?...

    lol

  • or it's just a shirt....

  • purportedly alternative lol?

even if "alternative" (which they are in no way) music for some reason stood for not wearing "corporate logos" i really don't think he gave a shit.

do you put hours of thought into everything you wear daily? what a "contrived effort" that must be!

  • to say they arent alternative is kind of an odd statement and lol who cares if he wore a shirt with an advertisement on it 15-20 years ago...

  • Have any you retards ever thought he likes Reese's I mean who doesn't?

  • i like reeses and i have that shirt

  • you an idiot

  • I have honeslty never heard such a stupid comment.

  • i love cap n jazz. i love ghosts and vodka.

i wish i was at this show.

  • The point is not how good they are, how consistently well they play their instruments, but the emotion they put out...that is what made them a great band. You've missed the point.

  • no...no they don't musically they are actually amazingly talented...what do you think is so good? cause im willing to bet if you can't at least appreciate this then the music you listen to must be quite awful.

  • sugar, even odd smiles are in this season

  • how come no one is stage diving or dancing or even singing along?!

  • Its a Kinsella band....things don't have to make sense.

  • still doesn't explain why the crowd isn't having a fun time! i know the music of the kinsella's don't make sense but if i had been at this show, i probably wouldnt have stopped moving around.

  • cap n jazz is amazing. influenced alot of music of today. i fucking love them.

  • This is the last song on their only full length, and is the perfect end to the best collection of songs I have heard in my entire life. Even odd smiles are in this season.

  • which one is davie von bowen?

    did i spell that right

  • The shaved head guy on the left. The one who is left handed.

  • he kind of looks like maulkmus.....

  • *malkmus

  • words cannot articulate how godly this band is.

  • well said man there is nothing greater in the world than cap'n jazz

  • anything.

  • they are amazing!!! I love it!

  • I don't give two shits about emo, what it is, what it isn't, but I love this band and mcr shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath!

  • Mint! Thanks for posting!!! Listening to these guys again is such a breath of fresh air.

  • fuck MCR, Hawthorne Heights, etc. any slanted greasy hair bullshit should rot in hell. cap'n jazz > all of this new school crap

  • i have and its not exactly brilliant..

  • ye they're shitty either way

don't even try to play them off like "their old shit is good"

because all modern emo is pop shit

  • All "modern emo" =/= emo

  • @yeoj555 modern emo is stuff like ampere, circle takes the square, touche amore etc. wut the fuck are you talking about faggot

  • the bullets album is amazing

  • good lord, they are such a chaotic, technical band. As musicians it's no surprise these guys have expanded and done such diverse and creative projects. The vocals are so over the edge, I love it for some reason. He can carry a tune, but does some weird shit with his voice. What's coolest about the amount of influence this whole generation of punk had was how young alot of them were. About 1980 to around 1997 punk was truly DIY, just average people. No polished major label pop garbage.

  • my chem is not fuckin EMO- explain to me what emo is? cause you are just callin any band you don't like emo!

  • I hate how people associate my chemical romance with emo. People have no idea what emo is and have turned it into an ugly genre from a great one.

  • Dude, Cap'n Jazz is like, a TRUE emo band.

My chemical romance WAS the new emo, but with the black parade, they became commercial sell outs.

  • they werent even new emo

  • my chemical romance,i think, isn't even emo.mcr are nothing emo, hawthorne heights are just try hards, way too stereotypical with their 'cut my wrists and black my eyes',thats not emo.

todays real emo is mostly post-hardcore screamo,i think indie-emo has fallen again(jimmy eat world aren't emo today),except for dashboard confessional.

true emo is still kinda an underground genre only the fake bands are 'major rockstars',i don't think emo was created to be majorly mainstream

  • or there is not emo, just SOME gay girls that like MCR.

  • post-hardcore screamo..

dear god, where does it end?

  • EMO?? what music isn't emotional. stop being so stuck on labels... good music is good music

  • i agree

  • @gawreluk Emo came from EMOtional HARDCORE - no emotive behavior -, or Hardcore Punk without original ideologies (using themes that tr00s HxCx considered poser, hence Emotional, peace and love). Hardcore Punk + Love. Hardcore Punk + Depression. Hardcore Punk + Pain. Hardcore Punk + Whatever. This is emo. Cap'n Jazz IS GOOD, no one denied this, but Cap'n Jazz IS EMO, this is fact! This band is a good way to reduce the bias against the genre, and the poser lost generation.

  • More like, "where does it start" in the case of this band.

  • Not even close bruv.

  • Cap'n Jazz was emo before some douchebag ruined it by labelling it "emo."

  • My Chemical romance isn't emo.

    Stupid shit.

  • Hilarious "itsjose." I love the Cap'n - but the comments are cracking me up.

  • oh my god you're all gay. turn off comments please. and then delete my post.

  • Oh gosh, Cap'n Jazz makes my heart complete.

    Emo, schemo. Who cares?

Music doesn't need a label. It just needs to be good.

    Like this.

I just wish I was older so I could have truly experienced being at a Cap'n Jazz show instead of having false nostalgia of their past existence that I couldn't fully be able to experience.

  • Damn straight...emo is a fucking stupid word made up by some asshole magazine writer. Labels are stupid. In the spirit of Fugazi and the idea that punk is about being completely different than what's around you and the DIY ethic...Cap'n Jazz is, if anything, punk. As is Braid, Embrace, Rites of Spring,Fugazi,Sunny Day Real Estate,Jawbreaker, Jawbox, and the dozen's of other bands that get labeled emocore, post this and that, and all that other ridiculous shit.

  • emocore right? not emo. shit i know what neither of them mean so nevermind

  • Not emo.

  • thank you sooooo much for posting this.

  • Here we go, some true emo music. None of that Alesana or Hawthorne Heights post-hardcore shit. Fucking scene kids.

  • i got news for ya buddy. this is post hardcore... that other stuff is metal influenced pop punk or some shit.

  • its emo. they're pioneers, yo. haha lawl@metalinfluencedpoppunk. hardcore comes from punk, yo. check out minor threat. orig hc, fsho. converge, botch, they made metalcore. and then it got trendy. well it was good while it lasted. at elast i'll always have my cap'n. :D

  • hell yea - the 1 time i got to see them... the entire crowd didn't stop moving and had big ass smiles on their faces the entire set.

  • real emo kids dont wear make-up and worry about their hair.

  • This is what I have in mind when I use the word Emo, and I've always thought the music was great. It's a shame the scene kids had to ruin it.

  • They were emo before emo was tacky.

  • I've been listening to Cap'n Jazz for 10 years now, and only recently heard that they were emo! :D

Call the Kinsella brothers up too, because i'm not sure they know either!

Sure they made emotional music, but so does Celine Dion, and she ain't no emo is she? Please keep that tacky tag off of them! :/

  • what the heck is emo?

    THIS IS EMO

  • Oh my gosh, I'm so excited! I've checked on youtube so many times for Cap'n jazz and finally there's something. Aaaah, YES!

  • Hey, I remember these guys. Damn, good times!

  • oh god!!! please upload more!!!

  • This fucking rules

  • Yeah man! This is real Emo. Not that wannabe shit today that no band can possibly immitate.

  • wow, I didnt know there was any concert footage. Great great band, I have been listening to them for almost 10 years now.

  • I love Cap'n Jazz! ... oh well, at least I got to see Make Believe!
