  • Great Great GREAT- I made it to Vegas 1st in 1975 when I hit 21. Some of that Golden era was still lingering. Hughes had yet to move in, the "Mob" was still in the Stardust, et al...

The music was a Midas touch. I still like the new Vegas, but these movies make me ache for that past time.

  • @MiltonJenkins Milt, glad you enjoyed it. I hope to be there in the spring. It's been a few years, but I still love the city.

  • beautiful, thanks for sharing, got a tear or two from my father :)

  • @aaronpapanos glad you and your father enjoyed it.

  • I can't believe how small the hotels were. What song is playing, by the way?

  • @brgvt97 Sorry, but I don't know what the music is. Yeah, a much smaller town back then.,

  • @GLOSSIN1 Oh, OK. I thought that you would know what song it is. No problem. :)

  • @GLOSSIN1 Wait...now I understand why you don't know. When you got the film transferred to DVD, music was added. Sorry that I was confused.

  • @brgvt97You were right, but It was converted from 8mm to Video and the sound was added then.

  • My own private Vegas time machine. Cool.

  • I have been gathering data on the origin of the Strip, and this video is priceless!!! Thanks for Sharing. By them cruising the Strip, I was able to locate the La Concha Motel. The original office shell structure will become the office and museum for the Neon Bone Yard. The Strip does not like nostalgia and up to the recession was intent on imploding all of the old buildings. Great video.

  • @hpylori7 glad you enjoyed it.

  • Looks like early 60s.

  • @scrateshooter is was early 60s.

  • Great Vid. Thanks for posting it.

  • Was it a party place back in the 60s and 70s? Or mainly just gambling and shows?

  • hi, i am a french director make a documentary about vegas and i m very interested about your footage

is it possibe to use it for free ?

    thanks

    zouarimichael@hotmail.fr

  • looks cheap back then....

  • what a lot of memories for me. and the music is perfect!

  • @ponygirlup glad you enjoyed it.

  • i wish i can go back in time and i'lllll be so happy and i wish i was bron in the 1950

  • Back when Vegas was really the Vegas we love.

  • @Newtwist75 Those were the good old days. I suppose someone will be saying the same about today's vegas in fourty years.

  • @GLOSSIN1 notice the off stage entertainment isnt as classy as it once was?

  • @GLOSSIN1 That's a treasure you have there. Thanks for sharing. As for your comment, I suppose people like me would (who still think it's the greatest place to visit). But I don't think today's Vegas would hold a candle to yesteryear's Vegas.

  • @JohnLeeMD My wife and I still love Vegas, but I think the mystery and excitement I felt as a young lad in Vegas will never be the same.

  • I lived in Vegas in the early to mid 1980's and upon my return visit a mere 5 years later i was shocked at the changes. These views are great; i can only imagine the stars that would have been playing the showrooms then. Dino, Sammy, not to mention Elvis in the 70's. The film may be "amateur", but it's a great snapshot of history. Thanks for posting!

  • @pneulancer Glad you enjoyed it..

  • The old school Vegas looked like much more fun and not as overcrowded.

  • @hujass1 It was different back then.

  • cool !!!! :)

  • I was told up till the early 60's casinos were not open 24 hours a day...Imagine Vegas shutting down for the night!

  • wow i just drove down the strip today, it was like a different world back then

  • Long time ago, nothing like today. I was a kid then and thought it was pretty fantastic.

  • wow..what I would give to step into this video and walk around and see more...great stuff man...look at those American classic cars!

  • SC75, They don't build them like that anymore.

  • That's quality film right there. 16mm? I'm guessing your who either took it either had a lot o money or was a pro :)

  • sfchris, thanks for commenting, but it's just a poor 8mm home movie taken with an expensive camera in the 60's.

  • profitleads, glad you enjoyed it.

  • Thanks for posting this. (Good music selection too) A lot of good memories in this.

  • This is the best Las Vegas. Wish they could build a town like this once more....without all the special effects, but with the terrific signs and the wonderful stars. It was so different then!!

  • Those were good days.

  • ahhh cool thanks :]

  • Fantastic home movie.

    Thanks for posting it GLOSSIN1.

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks

  • I'm not from las vegas but is las vegas

Still the same from the 70's or 60's??

  • Oh not at all! Vegas has changed ALOT since then. Of all the hotels seen along the Strip in this film, only the Sahara and Riviera are still there.

  • Oh well that woulb be cool to see. also thanks for telling me :]

  • You are right. We were in a moving car and shooting 8mm. That's the way it was. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Wow! Some nice film, but the scenes go by too fast!

  • Serratop, glad you found it. We stayed in a little motel just off the strip. It was called the Domino. No air there. As kids we spent most of our time in the pool. The bigger hotels and casinos did have air.

  • oh man, im so glad i found your video. im in vegas on 1st of june, the 10th time in mirage. but seeing vegas with his small hotels and thousands of beautifull cars in the old days is so exiting. your video is going to my favorites, thank you very much. btw do you kow, how they managed the heat problem those days, or did they have air conditioners already?

  • That would be a unique casino and would probably draw some folks. But, with todays financial situation, I don't think it would be a good move. Perhaps in a couple of years.

  • I wish there was one casino, like in downtown Vegas, that had the old mills hightops. I'd pay a premium to go in and play the old spring & level machines again. Also, I'd invest in such an undertaking.

  • Fnozman, thanks for viewing it.

  • LOL! Cool vid-thx!

  • herrloop, times have changed, but Vegas is still and interesting city. It's been a few years since my last visit. Glad you enjoyed the short video.

  • So much blue sky while driving down the strip, lovely! By all accounts, this was Vegas' golden age and looking at old footage like this on YouTube you can see why.

I love Vegas but wish I coulda visited in those days.

    Thanks for posting.

  • OV, glad you liked it.

  • Great Video - I love it!

  • Back then, there was a lot of empty space on the Strip between hotels. Downtown was the pretty packed. Time has changed a lot. Thanks for the comment.

  • i never realized how small the hotels were back then compared to what they are now and growing with the new city centre project.

  • Mr Unidyne, my sentiments also.

  • If only I could go back in time...Thank you for posting this!

  • Speyrer88, thanks.

  • very cool!

  • Infil888, glad you enjoyed it.

  • i love it very much

    thank you

  • Ruditouteski, glad your enjoyed it. Sorry, but I'm unable to tell you what the music is.

  • The combination of the images and the music

make it all feel like a dream!

What is that great music by the way??

thanx for the post and for sharing those

    memories with us !

  • pzdianying, glad you enjoyed it.

  • wonderful!! thank you.

  • Roxyblonde451, your welcome. Those were good times in Vegas.

  • It's nice to see a Vegas where you could actually walk down the street rather then shuffle through the herds like cattle. Thanks for posting this.

  • Bikermarnix, thanks for the comment. Fremont is nice now, but there was a time when it was really run down. I'm glad they made it a walking zone.

  • how things can change in such a short time

although i like the fremont street a bit more than the acutal strip

    nice vid

  • I enjoyed that video, thanks.

  • zimdogg4, glad you liked it. Taken a long time ago.

  • Gpower, the best time is the memories you have of the place. Thanks for the comment.

  • i think the 90's were the best vegas year... then again i was only alive since the 80's haha.

  • Great footage.....looks to be from about 1962 (best guess) based on the images from the Strip...the La Concha motel is clearly visible and was newly built in 1961...and the Sahara's 1963-vintage Alexandria Tower is not yet standing....

  • Skyriader, it could be or 63. I was just a lad traveling with my parents. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Peter Lawford was good, but I rather come back as Dean Martin... Now that's cool. I love Vegas, baby I been there 4 time's already I want to go once a year but with the price of everything going up It's hard to afford to go back so for now I just have to watch great video's like this one.Thank's for the video It was great...Steve D

  • Steve D,

Glad you liked it. Vegas is a super town, but you're right, prices are on the rise. Back in the 60s things were different. Free meals and lots of give aways to get the people to visit. Those were good times.

    Steve

  • So much History.

    So many characters.

Great footage of a classic time. thanks

  • 23offset, glad you liked it.

  • I was in Vegas twice in the past 6 months and loved it. I only wish I could have been around in these days, so much class. thanks for the video.

  • Dminus, I'm envious. Not sure when I'll get back to Vegas. Hope it's soon.

  • Man, if there's such a thing as reincarnation, I sure the hell hope that I come back in 1960 era Vegas as Peter Lawford.. Now THAT would be cool.

  • Being a member of the "rat pack" would be a trip.

  • I really wish I was alive then to see Bobby Darin perform there.

  • Hi, Rach. Vegas had all of the big acts for the time.

  • Boy! That was a nice trip back through time.

    Thanks

  • Renkn, thanks for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Nice footage with good music. Thanks

  • Harshcore, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment.
