I totally get where you're coming form, I used to have the same standpoint. But the amazing thing about Dj's is their ability to create medleys and montages. A good DJing experience (at least trance and techno) should take you on a journey, some segments will slow down, others will speed up, but there's always a steady beat that you can dance too. It's not about playing records, it's how you mix them. And it's not nearly as easy as it sounds to do a mashup like Daft Punk, I tried.
